It’s refreshing to hear a realistic assessment of Elon Musk and the products and his abandonment of his lofty principles.
You don’t hear Zac and Jessie talking like this.
I feel Drew and Kirk used to pull Elon back a little, which may be why they have gone.

interesting i sold my tesla 2 months ago mainly for same reasons. i made ok money off tesla stock but also lost during each of elon drama periods. in selling i got out on top. could jump back in at some point. but I found it tiresome to be invested and constantly hear the elon drama. early on he was someone i totally admired...then for several years giving him pass after pass excusing him citing he must have special elon chess strategy. and i guess he does, but many of the moves seem way more capatilst than enviro...where my stating i owned stock is also capitalist but the point is it would be real genius if he could pull off both. the ai robot play might be all he actually thinks will make Tesla survive but it is not something that interests me at all. I dont even care about self driving!. I too hope he stops being a social media wanker it is so pathetically weak....as if anything on any social media actually adds value to life.

Tesla mapping the area for the launch of Robotaxi seems like a weird approach.
But perhaps the Robotaxi will only be available in areas that have detailed mapping like Waymo?

Navigational data error can cause errors or phantom braking. Many roads in Sweden have wrong speed limit data in Tesla navigation.
Sometimes when entering a tunnel with a road above, the tesla reacts thinking that it is on the road above. Going from 90km/h to 50km/h is not very nice for the following cars 😮

Elon has lost focus and the EVs are suffering.
To me it’s clear that Elon’s focus got split with the tweeter accusation.

Sales are down not just because people are spooked by Elon's comments and/or actions. Try to price out a vehicle on Tesla's website. Select one, choose an option and you'll see that a listed $1500 upgrade will cost $7500. This has been the case for more than a month. The world is suffering from too few people or too little expertise/experience in so many places. Tesla suffers more than most, as they had and have too few people in places key to selling their vehicles. That is not a demand side issue, its a supply side issue and can be resolved relatively quickly.

Fred, I agree with your Tesla concerns. I have been slowly divesting my stock. My Tesla is the best car I've ever had, but I have a reservation for a Rivian R2 to replace it. Tesla is no longer the company I believed it to be, and I do not trust Elon or the board to act in its best interests. There are so many brilliant and hard working people at Tesla, but I feel they are being betrayed. It's a very sad situation.

I’ve been dismayed by Musk and his focus on everything but cars, too, not to mention his sophomoric antics and right-wing trolling (I sure didn’t see THAT coming from an EV pioneer!). I also have been dismayed that the Tesla community is apparently becoming more of a “Musk can say and do no wrong” cult. It’s getting positively Trumpian. So, yes, many danger signs, and I, too, have been thinking of selling. I bought half my 10,000 shares in early 2013, and the other half sporadically from 2015 - 2021. Maybe I’ll sell half my shares to lock in gains and keep the other half in Tesla as a “just in case” they solve FSD. I WAS going to buy a Cybertruck - but lately have been thinking more of getting a Ford F-150 Lightning. I don’t want to drive around a political symbol - especially since I don’t support the candidate Musk does. Dear god - how did we get here??? So disappointed in Musk - and I voted in favor of his stock package.

You've been critical of Elon for several years - not swallowed the cool aid. So thought you might have sold - not knowing what/if you owned.
Elon kinda crazy last few years. The caver thing set alarm bells for me - guy is British like me. So him then suing him. The fact Elon hired a private eye to try and prove his point - had the guy followed and surveiled - the doubling down repeatedly to attack the guy! You coulda added the drugs, the whole anti COVID stuff too. Where he was tweeting stuff about "get hit by a truck, recorded as a COVID death". The abandoning California. There's been soooo much where he's shown to be distracted!

This is not a easy time for a person who invested in Tesla the Electric car company. I see it like this. Tesla spent billions to lower the COGS. China, for the most part, said we don't care and priced it's competing cars below Tesla regardless of COGS. While nobody seems to want to hear it, China's SASAC is real and has the power to prop up any Chinese industry the country sees as strategic. BEVs is at or near the top of the list.
If Tesla allows China to define the field and the rules it will loose. As will any car company outside China unless their government is willing to step in and cover the loses.

3x, 5x, 10x etc is the new "order of magnitude" and "profound" improvements...meaningless buzz words that Elon throws around to make the fanboys salivate and think things are improving at a rate they simply aren't.

The most troubling aspect of Elon is how he has managed to brainwash millions of followers into refusing to think independently. It's now a circular pattern-this influence has also affected Elon himself.

I am extremely happy with Elon running Tesla and totally agree pivoting the company to an AI company. Just being a car company is going to be a race to the bottom and many auto companies will go bankrupt. Fred as you know better than anyone never bet against Elon and you just did😮 I see your views continue to decrease on TH-cam so I guess viewers like myself have been feeling that you have been jaded for sometime.

@FredericLambert - big mistake. Your lack of vision is outstanding! You will see in a few years, most likely starting 2026. A bit of a roadmap for you: FSD will be resolved, licencing by other OEMs follows, FSD gets ported in Optimus, Optimus production scales, cars manufactuting become a side-show, the energy business picks up steam, optimus sales &/or renting boom (can be rentend per job/project, etc.). Robo-taxi gets ported to OEMs (including hybrids and ICE, whatever ICE are left). Software-like margins are staring to hit big. Then... you will cry. Sad...

Why would he be upset? If Tesla realigns with the mission that originally inspired Fred, he can always reinvest. Every investor has their own goals and objectives, and Fred has clearly expressed his. Emotions are better left on the stage or screen, not the trading floor.

@@lakersalex Fred is such a bear he should go into hibernation now and wake up in 2030's. His stance on Tesla is affected by his feelings towards Musk, and he's been pushing the mainstream media narrative with a vengeance. He’s just another Musk hater, who does not even get Tesla’s mission correctly. In the very beginning of his article, he states: “he fully supported Tesla’s mission to accelerate the advent of electric transportation”, while, if he bothered to research even that, it is actually “to accelerate world’s transition to sustainable energy”, so electric vehicles are just part of that. Regardless, I think they have been doing both, and already achieved a good portion of their stated goals. I am so full of Fred’s stance on Tesla, as even reading Electrek does not interest me anymore, as it seems like they are so ecstatic if Tesla fails, while any other company (foreign or domestic) is praised for coming up with anything remotely electric products. How about they talk about Ford or GM not holding promises in their transition to an electric future? They barely mention them, because anything Tesla and Elon sells. Fred pushes his biased narrative as he would think that he knows better than Musk how to run Tesla. In the meantime, he is just a vitriol gushing sideliner, who became sour because Elon is not behaving according to his high standards of conforming to what he thinks should be the politically correct average Joe CEO. Well… Musk is anything but average. And 73% of shareholders who recently voted in his favor agree with that. Obviously, Fred is free to do whatever he wants with his shares and money, as well as I can comment whatever I want to his poor actions.

    • @lakersalex
      @lakersalex หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@MrKatanaSan I see where you’re coming from, but it's important to separate personal feelings from facts. Fred's stance on Tesla is shaped by his analysis of the company's actions and direction, not just his feelings about Elon Musk. It's also worth noting that Fred has been a strong supporter of Tesla's mission for years and has praised the company when he believes it aligns with that mission.
Electrek has been a leading voice for sustainability and electrification for years. When they are critical of Tesla, they explain their reasoning in a clear and understandable way. While it’s totally okay to disagree with their point of view, it’s hard to dispute the facts they report. I haven't seen any reason to doubt the veracity of their reporting.
Regarding Tesla’s mission statement, you’re right that it's about accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy, and electric vehicles are indeed a major part of that. However, it’s reasonable for people to focus on different aspects of Tesla’s broader mission, like transportation, which is highly visible.
As for criticism of Tesla versus other companies like Ford or GM, it's a fair point that all companies should be held accountable for their promises. Fred and Electrek have reported on other automakers' progress and setbacks as well, see Toyota. Ultimately, holding all companies, including Tesla, to high standards can help ensure they deliver on their commitments.
Lastly, it’s great to have different perspectives on such a significant company and its CEO, especially when it comes to a company as innovative and controversial as Tesla. Let’s keep the discussion balanced and focused on the facts.
