Are you saying that trump isn't an adult? He's technically been an adult for 60 years. The fact that his mind never advanced beyond the age of six must be your issue.

Although not as historic or iconic as his original Daily Show run, or as investigative as his brief run with Apple, this may be my favorite Jon Stewart vehicle. I especially like how he ends each show by sharing the spotlight with 3 beautiful women a generation (at least) younger than he is, without making it creepy, patronizing, or sexist at all. The choice of guests is usually spot on, and Jon does a great job of letting them fully express themselves while still getting his thoughts in there. Regardless of who wins, please keep this going!

    Excellent show with fabulous guests.
I have heard Mona Charen before, but this is the first time I could see her as more rational & human than hard-core & right-wing.
The combo of Jon Stewart and Lawrence Tribe is like the addition of a little cream & sugar to a bitter and very strong cuppa. The three of them together made it easier for me to accept her views with less frustration and more interest, even when I don't agree with some of them.
And Lawrence Tribe is, as usual, a delight and a homecoming. He's like a welcoming hearth and a cup of hot chocolate on a cold and blustery night. 💙

Well at the very least we won't have Tim Miller's Muslim ban on day one nor the promised exiling of people protesting in favour of Palestinians ( not sure how that would work. But maybe it's covered in project 2025 ) nor do we have to look forward to Jared Kushner's suggestion that Israel develop Gaza for the Tourist Trade. Trump has said that he would encourage Netanyahu
" to finish the job in Gaza and the West Bank" But if you're in favour of those policies I guess you're voting for Trump or Jill Stein.

This was one of my favorite podcasts in a long while. I mean all of Jon’s podcasts are great, but this is a much needed conversation that I see America needs to have.
The US has a complicated history and unfortunately for social media it really requires a nuanced conversation, which seems impossible.
Like freedom for every man was and still is a big deal. However for Tomas Jefferson man meant white land owning man. But today it means something very different. That tension is hard to deal with. People can be good and bad.

    • @maxhart7907

Agree on the necessary nuance for many things and unfortunately, the online world and social platforms aren't really set up for that. It's all focused on speed, likes and attention. The more that path is pursued, the harder it is to dig into the complexities of many issues faced in the world today. It's now like trying to dig a path for a highway with a plastic spoon... a massive challenge as we've all come to see.

As far as I can go back I know each generation of ours has served in the military. My brothers my Father, my uncles, I can keep on. And the fact is anytime we falter as a country we have to criticize the actions taken in our names. This is why we fought the Soviet’s or the Nazi’s, so that when our leaders act improperly we say it and in my opinion if we were not to do that we are nothing but traitors. Government of the people by the people for the people, can mean anything if we do not hold our leaders accountable. Thank you for your time. 🇺🇸 please everyone vote Blue 💙. In the UK we voted Brexit, then had a chance to truly understand the meaning of it before committing. We went for it anyway despite it being clear this was going to be bad for the UK, while Brexiteers tried to claim patriotism - the false superficial kind, not the interests of the nation. We’re now in our new world and guess what - the same lot who gas lit the population having been proven disingenuous say we now should drop out of the European Court of Human Rights (same as Russia and Belarus ffs). They never stop. America has the chance to reject Trump - the first time was bad with a certain level of checks and balances. This time however could have far reaching and far more devastating and lengthy consequences. The gas lighting will go on regardless. The pursuit of truth must always continue, and it’s crucial that the falsehoods and media that carry those lies are pushed back on day after day after day. If only you had many more Jon Stewarts !

Regarding the desire to discard the Constitution - go read the letters between Thomas Jefferson and John Adams in the National Archives. Jefferson argued that the Constitution should be reevaluated, and even completely tossed out every 19 years or so (every generation). He argued that laws are for the living, not the dead. I agree with him. The Constitution was NEVER intended to be treated as some immutable holy relic. It was meant (at least in Jefferson's view) to be a living document that was changed with the times.

It makes me sick that when i see American flags in front of a house or on a car, my first reaction is digust. The MAGA movement has co-opted patriotism to the point where they've tried to take the American flag

I understand completely how you feel. In Brazil, where I'm from and live now, the same happened to me when the Bolsonaristas (from the cult of former president Bolsonaro) co-opted the Brazilian flag, claiming that if you were not for Bolsonaro, you were not a patriot or a true Brazilian. We voted him out in the last elections BUT the Bolsonarism is still alive in the country.

Strange. It makes me sick because of completely different reasons. Witnessing the military support that murdered ten thousands of innocents. Hope the Dems staying in power and can double their support.

What would parents of a 25 year old daughter do if she called and said she was bringing her new boyfriend home for Thanksgivings Day Dinner. She said he has a few issues but she likes that he’s kind of a bad boy. The parents say how bad? Well, he has 31 felonies with 60 more pending and 27 sexual assaults, 1 of which a judge determined was a rape, but he’s a great businessman with only 6 bankruptcies, but you’ll like him. Any parents with values would say they, we are going out of town this holiday.

i didnt think about it till you all looked at that viewer comment, but the first presidential election I participated in was 2016. Every presidential election I've been able to vote in, has had trump as a candidate. What the hell man.
