Nice vid. I buy, play and own synths since 1975. I own and have owned true exotics like PPG2.3, Matrix 12, Chroma Rhodes and Polaris, OBX, OB8, Prophet 5, VS, and many many more. But honestly? The Summit is one of the best sounding synths I have ever owned. It sometimes sound more analog than real analog synths !!!
Excellent testement to the summit, especially since you have magnificent Synths. After lengthy research the Summit was a no brainier, it can achieve almost anything.
Yeah the sound crafting options are almost limitless
yeah man, tis maybe only one synth that sounds even more analog than some true analog synths)
I own a lot of hardware but i must admit that the Summit has the best sounding effects ive ever used on hardware synthesizers.
Especially the Reverbs and delays.
Ive started running all of my my vintage gear through the summits effects.
The results are incredible.
That and the synthesizer itself has added a whole other new dimension to my other hardware.
was teh same with Novation the Supernova II, although at times the reverb could be a bit noisy. But the hours of fun I had just tweaking the filter and the delay on the arpeggiator was amazing
Yes because that machine works with FPGA tech.
Wonderful demo!
I've had mine since December of 2019. I pre-ordered it in June when the price was $1,999 before they adjusted it to $2,199. I had to have it replaced twice by May 2020. First for the early encoder issue, then for the aftertouch problem.
I love this instrument. I also thoroughly recommend Luke Neptune's patches. They're marvelous! He can make this sound very Juno-like!
Keep up the great work and thanks for letting people know what an extraordinary instrument this is. It was Chris Huggett's last, and with the last firmware, I believe it's worthy of his legacy.
Fantastic. Thank you for the reminder. Everything about this synth speaks to me.
It really is really fantastic. Love mine!!
One of my favourite synths, and this is a very good showcase
Wow stunning. Thank you.
Excellent demo of a great synth.
Very wonderful Sounds and Music
Great stuff and playing!
An absolute pleasure to listen, thank you!
Trank you!! 😀
Fantastisch, echt genieten
Very nice demo! The Summit sounds like ten synths in one. Me want.
Such an underrated synth
I thought this was click bait, but that is a beautiful nostalgic sound.
Real ace stuff thiedi! love the way that you are playing and using these sounds!!! keep up these ace vibes bro 🔥🔥🧨🔥🔥
Thank you very much 😀🙋♂️
pads with extra sauce 😎👍🏻...love this synth
The solo plus mellow pads from 0:22 could be something from a Dire Straits intro on their Brothers in Arms or something. I would play that combo for hours. Beautiful!
Yes, very much like the intro for "Your Latest Trick".
A digital instrument that really has an authentic analog vibe. I returned my Moog One (the king of analog synths) for a Summit. It isn't better, it isn't as good, but it's good enough.
Well that's a testement to the summit for sure wow! I have listed for the moog one for years but I think it's still an unfinished project. I have the summit and its well capable.
Anyway all the sounds are fantastic! And you playing it so great :)
Bravo, excellent example of the Summits capability from a masterful player
Hi friend fantastic sounds, absolutely top sound for me is from 0:20 to 1:30. Excellent work.
Love this!
With a proper 80’s patch set Summit is the retro music itself. I will keep my Summit for life.
I love mine! It’s very powerful ! 👍Great vid!
It simply is one of the best synths of the last 50 years !!
@@sK3LeTvM1 I agree!
It sounds amazing and you really did it justice. This time next month I will also be a proud owner, fingers crossed. I can hardly wait.
you will not regret it… 😊
'One of the best eighties sounding synth' - 100% accurate. To the point where I can't find another synth to complement it with. I have an Emulator II but that's acting weird. Prophet 5 is interesting but pricey...
I want a Peak in my hardware!! This joint is so versatile from analog to digital.
super !
Sounds very good almost like Hydrasynth 👍
Brother you played so beautifully wow! Wishing I could play half as good as that!
thank you very much!! 😀
@@thiedi8000 how do you like the summit I’m considering buying it! I kinda feel horrible the first synth I bought was the deepmind 12 and I just don’t like it at all.
The Summit has a very warm and powerful sound.. and the best effects i‘ve ever heard in a synth. I can spend hours playing it without getting bored. It is very inspiring. Perfect keybed and aftertouch. No comparison to the deepmind. 😀🤷♂️
My only problem with the Peak and the Summit is that without the reverb on, there are literally no reviews on youtube. I think for a reason. With all the built-in effects they sound marvellous. But not in plain, raw. Btw you played this synth beautifully, I salute you Sir!
I own a Peak since its introduction in 2017. The raw sound is excellent. All synths sound kind of "flat" without at least some ambience added, due to the way the sound is produced. I'm into synths since the late '70 and I can tell that IMHO the Peak/Summit is the most interesting instrument in many, many years.
maybe I'll make a video to answer your question... very interesting aspect... 🙂
Here it is..😀..th-cam.com/video/y5OPIMVV2zQ/w-d-xo.html
Don’t agree. The oscillators and filters on the Summit are absolutely top notch and sound great in the raw. Sure, the effects are also top notch and so of course enhance the sound further as with any synth. The only major issue with this keyboard is it’s lack of multitimbrality, which means the oodles of polyphony can’t be fully utilized for live sequenced use.
Check out mike pensinis summit videos
this demo and one I watched yesterday has me sold! liked teh Boys of Summer at 6:59
Hallo Sven. Supergeile Sounds!
A lovely demo of a fantastic synth. Question: do you only play preset sounds in the video or your own sounds?
Some sounds I made myself, some are presets and then there are a lot of fantastic Sounds from other sounddesigners.. 😊
Great demo of a criminally underrated and underappreciated synth; one of the VERY few with actually good onboard effects. Depending on priorities to me Polybrute is the only other similarly priced & featured modern analog(-ish) synth I would consider. Only 6 voices, inferior effects, and no dedicated 2nd layer out (BOO), but better interface/workflow IMHO and layer morph is really something else. That would be a tough choice (especially after this video) were I not such a slave to much simpler old school analog designs...
Who said thar summit or peak is underrated?
@@ivanglushko4232 certainly everyone has their own experiences and it is all subjective. In discussions I am almost always the one to bring up Summit and point out how VERY capable it is while Rev 2, Polybrute, Juno X, Super 6, and Hydrasynth are always mentioned several times.
@@klstay disagree. But yep, everyone has it’s one vision and opinion. Both summit and peak are very honourable.
@@ivanglushko4232 I believe we agree - Summit (and Peak) are fantastic. I simply state to me it seems few people understand how good they are, so I always tell them.
♥☺♪sounds
Thanks. Sold.
Why did you sell it?? 😮
👏👏👏👏👏👏
can it sound like the bass station?and have a similar filter sound and, with weird electronic noodling potential as well as this.Summit v new Prophets ?? opinions please
Are these our original patches? Sounds amazing!
looks like a nice synth. I am wondering about comparing Prophet rev2 with Summit. Any ideas?
Is there a smooth transition when selecting one sound to the next?.....ie..the previous sound still rings on the keys pressed?.....
the sound are presets from novation ? or your presets ? very good
Sounds perfect! Are these factory patches, or your own?
These are no factory sounds, I made most of them myself. But there are few I got from other sounddesigners. You can find a lot of good stuff in the internet. For example @lukeneptune3820 I like a lot... 🙂 www.youtube.com/@lukeneptune3820
@@thiedi8000 Thank you!
Great perfomance and very useful video. What's the music theme that you play around 2:54.
this is improvised... but inspired by music from the eighties...😊
Fantastic sounds! Can you sell them? I'm a proud Summit owner too 🔝🔝🔝
maybe I'll put together a set of these sounds. I'm working on it and will let you know when it's time…😀🙋♂️
@@thiedi8000 Please let me know as well! Love all those patches!
The Novation Summit is one of my interesting synths. Can you save the sound on the keyboard to be used later after you have done the editing?
Sure there is 4 single bank of 127 preset, an 4 multi bank
I wonder if it’s enough to have the Peak?
😊
Did you make these sound and do you sell them?
Can I ask you how many presets are included in this synth? and how many I could buy and if they are for free or not?
Four banks of 127 sounds for polyphonic single voice and the same for dual voice layering/splitting - all replaceable. Plus loads of free presets with Novation Components if you link it to a computer.
@9:31 Do I hear Berry Gordy's Last Dragon here? Am I dreaming about that?
@@thiedi8000 Rev 2 hatte ich schon in den Händen. Sound top, Verarbeitung Flop :)
I rememebr this melody at 00:40, what is this :) ?
I'm waiting for someone to tell me. I heard the song on vacation in Italy in the eighties. It was played there all the time.. it‘s an italien Song with a female Singer… i have that melody in my head since then..🤷♂️👋
@@thiedi8000 or Italian or from old USSR movie, but a lot of USSR movies was made in collab with Italians 🤣 I will ask my wife, she have a better memory than me))
Good, very good!
Are these Factory presets or a specific preset pack ?
Most of them are no factory presets. A big part of them I made myself. But you can find also a lot of good stuff in the internet as I mentioned in other comments.. maybe I'll put these sounds together as a set...😀🙋♂
@@thiedi8000 I have the Peak. Fits more into my work flow and takes less space. They are excellent and a bargain for what they can do.
Where can i buy your sounds for my summit?
I‘m still working on a soundset.. coming soon…😀
Sounds like the DX7 or D-50.
Such a shame it’s only bi-timbral. Seems like synth manufacturers have forgotten how to exploit this level of polyphony. Sure we can use a DAW but for live sequencing I’d prefer a multitimbral setup using a midi sequencer.
That’s the limitation of analog synths
Beautiful sounds, but the thing looks extensive and heavy.
I'll just listen to you.
24 pounds. Relatively light for 5 octaves.
