To all those who find this synth too digital sounding, The summit is a no brainer. I own a CS80, and have owned many analogue powerhouses (JP8, synthext, et cet). Yes, the oscillators have a somewhat sterile buzzy sound compared to true analogue BUT in return you get a very wide palette of sounds that can easily pass off as analogue in a mix, STABILITY, and zero maintenance costs. Try that with a CS80 or JP8 that easily costs 20-30 times as much as the Summit. My main issues are with limited programmability (the digital Z1 modulation monster came out in 95, come on novation...) and a few missed opportunities in terms of player interface (like on the cs series, ribbon controller, panel located initial and velocity controlled pitch envelopes). But for this price, it's amazing. The summit is a no brainer.
Great sounds! We have similar tastes in pads and comping synth tones for sure. Can you share these patches? I saw that some were modified from other folks patch packs, but MAN, I want all these!
Thank you very much for the good rating! I bought most of the sounds from Alfacode and MajorOSC and just modified them for my needs. Unfortunately, I cannot resell these sounds.
@@one1zero0eight8 Just the filter stage is analog. Though the oscilators are digital, they are produced using an FPGA at around 25MHz (also the sampling frequency), so they are kicking out waves that might as well be analog. Add some pre and post-filter drive and this thing really starts to sound like a beefy analog beast. I really love playing with this thing.
@@enygma3d i might be wrong but I believe the distortion is analogue too is it not? The dedicated distortion section that is, probably some kid of overdrive circuitry or something
Beautiful synth indeed. Your playing skills bring out the best of this synth. I'm only good at MIDI sequencing. I just love the versatility of this synth though. No one really talks about how dope the Novation Summit is for EDM sounds and those classic supersaw/hypersaw type sounds. I've made a couple of sound demo videos showing how aggressive this beast can sound. Check out my latest patches, click the link below. th-cam.com/video/pzYSZTk_f_I/w-d-xo.html
@@mthorwarth Good on you for giving credit where due. LOL. I listened to these and was thinking damn, If I didn't know any better I'd say these were Alpha's...then I'm like wait a sec, I know that one, and that one. You def do justice to both the packs and the synth! FYI MajorOSC is ApertureSoundLab now. :). - AlphaCodeSynth hosts his packs there too. We teamed up.
I tried the Rev2 and Didn't like it nearly as much as I thought I would. I just don't like the filter on the Rev. Never tried a Summit, but from what I've heard in demos it seems to be a much better synth (for my tastes).
What your fav synth in this price range? I don't understand how an oscillators that basically output a simple signal or play a wavetable can be better or worst today (it's a true question).
The first clip is 'Rock legend', worthy of a stadium audience! 💖😎👍🎼🎶🎹
😃👍👍👍
Can't stop watching this video, learning the tune and trying to recreate the patches on my Summit! Just brilliant, so beautiful! ❤👏👏👏😎👍🎶🎹

Just gotta love those sounds. Great synth...on my Wish List.
👍❤
this is such a great demo - wow - that riff at 1.40 onward is just 80s man, wonderful throughout thankyou
Probably The Best demo video of this synth on TH-cam. Very well played Sir!!
😊Thanks
Amazing! 🥸
Novation should be paying you commission, you just convinced me to add this synth to my.collection at some point!
First tune was very Days of Thunder… sounded fab
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
😊many thanks! Good luck and have fun with my music!

funtastic😍
Phenomenal feel and taste. Thanks for the satisfaction. Do this sounds may be for sale?)

Nicely done! Are these all factory presets on the Summit, or custom patches you made?
Thank you! Some Sounds are Factory Presets, but I changed Parameters on every Patch.
WOW!!
The digital synth that sounds more analog than many analogs...LOL
From what I have learnt, it uses analogue componentry so is analogue. Wild.

Actually it doesn't. It's very digital sounding
@@nathanbell6962 nah you can't say that and believe it. Its the most analogue sounding digital-osc synth I've ever heard
do you sell your patches?
Great playing by the way
that first one kind of has a dx7 vibe

Yeah I totally agree, people need to check out this guys sounds worth the price.
Sounds awesome. Would be great to have the names of the presets. Or did you design these?
I designed these Sounds myself or modified Presets or sounds I bought from Alphacode and MajorOSC.

@@MajorOSC I just ordered a Novation Summit. Can you provide a link to where I can purchase ApertureSoundLab patches?
Summit or Rev2 8?🤔
i faced the same decision last year and decided to go to the summit. With Rev 2 I would definitely take the 16-voice version.

Great promo.
Casio!!
Never been impressed with this. I owned a Peak for about 4 hours. The oscillators are uninteresting sounding.
