Great video, thanks for comparing to the APD. I have a video coming up on the 56mm ii as well but it was interesting to see the bokeh was nicer on the II vs the APD.
Hehe, APD is better bokeh, the fall off is much better I think. :P Great video tho to show the pain of APD AF! I had no idea lol... I thinks I shall stay a stopped down boring guy with my 50/2 for awhile longer tho (too poor to afford new shiny thingies!)
Yes, indeed in this photo. Bokeh balls and sharpness its loses out to the new 56mm. Most important the certainty of nailing the AF, the new 56 has improve greatly. I could never tell you how much missed AF I have experience with the 56 APD. Do visit your local store and have a hands on experience to see if this is worth it for yourself. Cheers.
Thanks for the review, Joshua! I did own the 56APD and I rented the 50/1.0 a year ago. I found it quite snappy compared to the APD at that time. 😅 Still I did miss some shots of moderately fast movement. Would you say the new 56 is a lot faster with AF? How about the sharpness and bokeh both at 1.2? Will try to get my hands on one in the store… any help is welcome! 😊
Hello Mahdi, I own the 50mm F1.0 and am thinking of the new XF56mm F1.2. How do I justified this to my wife. LOL. I feel they are both very different. For Bokeh, F1.0 is the winner for sure. As for AF, I feel the XF56 is snappier for obvious reason as its has small glass to move during AF.Again not by a lot. As for sharpness I didn't compare both at F1.2. The other issue the F1.0 is much bigger and heavier lens. Having said all this the XF56 is a very good all rounder, but I feel the XF50mm F1.0 is still the king.
@@FujiFanBoys I saw the local dealer had exactly one copy of the new 56 in store so I will try it out today if stars align - and my wife agrees that this is a 3 months early birthday present from me to myself 🤣 Or it will be the 50 for events and the 50/2.0 for family. Let’s see… 😇

I would really like to see how the APD performs on the new 40mp XH2 - please make this happen
Just bought this on Black Friday sale at Adorama. Can’t wait to pair it with me xt5!!
How did that go over on the xt5?
I just picked up my new 56 WR and love it…..I also love that shirt you are wearing, how can I get one?
congratulations. As for the t-shirt it's a one off custom gift from a friend.
Background music be like: "Welcome back to Hardware Unboxed." 😄
hows the quality when af nails it?
and (newb question)
Can you just use manual when you run into these sort of issues?
I was hoping to see that you put the old 56 on the new Fuji XH2s body so I can see how much the newer body improve the AF of older lens...

The bokeh on APD version is smoother..no sharp transitions...

Can you compare them when it comes to continuous focus (tracking spot) and face detection? Cheers

Lens looks very promising. I happen to be dropping by Singapore later this month. Do you have a usual store where you get your Fuji gear from?

Hi, is it okay for using 56mm 1.2 WR with XT30?. Or should i upgrade the body first?. :)
Thanks, Ivan. The AF for photos looks amazing!! Please may I ask how good the autofocus is for recording talking head videos? Many thanks!!
This video of Bobby and myself talking is shot with the XF56mm F1.2 WR. It locks in pretty well with a X-H2. th-cam.com/video/gTUBYdh9Qe8/w-d-xo.html
Thank you, Ivan!! That's exactly what I wanted to hear!! Top man! 😁
hows the af on xh2s with 56mm apd

Your visual comparison does not illustrate your points
