    1:43 Fujifilm has incorporated 8 elements with the lens focus group that move when focusing. Thus they have managed to minimise aberration fluctuation from infinity to MOD, by moving the aperture together with the lens focus group.
    To move the focus group, a DC motor is used for autofocus. They have incorporated three bearing mechanisms with the DC motor for smoother autofocus performance. The bearing mechanics ensure highly accurate control of the DC motor.
    It's a technical masterpiece. -Fujifilm

    So to be clear, you felt the autofocus was snappy for pictures, but not optimal for video? Also, is it faster for photos than the 50mm f1 and viltrox 56mm f1.4? I am primarily interested in this lens for stills. I have the viltrox which has quite fast AF, and convinced me I love shooting 85mm equivalent. I also use an XT3 and love it even if it has its frustrations. Great pics, btw!

      Thanks Matt!
      Yes, I find the focusing very good for photography (stills) but for video - as you could see on the samples - it doesn’t do good imo. I find it pretty much the same as the 50mm f1 personally focusing speed wise. I (still) (sigh) didn’t try the Viltrox 56 - so can’t tell you. Planning on asking Viltrox to send me the lens so I can compare them! Stay tuned and take care

      Thanks Joseph, sure you absolutely can. Depends if you mean nighttime photography in terms of landscape/on a tripod - for which any lens is ok (longer shutter speed) or for moving objects type of photography for which case those extra steps or aperture will give you more flexibility in terms of ISO and shutter speed. I have a love and hate relationship with the old 56. When you nail the focus... man, it's a great lens and portraits comes just fantastic. But that is only if it nailed it! I come to my home with MANY out of focus photos. Basic problem: people moves, and the focus don't keep up. And in low light conditions, it's just the worst lens I have. So, I though, the new 56 II will fix that problem. To my surprise, it's not the first video I see that the reviewer is not impressed with autofocus. My fear is to buy a new lens to replace the old one and still having the same problem. If the old 56 nailed just 60%-70% of the photos, I will keep it... but it's not the case. And nothing makes me think that the newer version will fix that. Thanks for the review

    • @cris_photography
      @cris_photography  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hear you! Hear that a lot in fact and to me the focusing speed - especially for weddings - has never been a problem (I shoot a lot on Leica M in manual focus - hence my indifference). But I under the slower focusing speed can be a big drawback for you. Don’t think the new one is THAT much better in terms of focusing speed tbh so you might as well keep the old one I think.
      Thanks for watching and take care

For me its seems a great time to swipe up the older primes for my camera. Since it is not WR ot have a large megapixel. I am still learning and these lenses have something about them!

    • @cris_photography
      @cris_photography  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh ok ok 👍🏼 juste I’ll check tomorrow when am at the studio. For the lens - honestly - I kept my original 56mm lens (not even APD!) and shoot all my weddings with it! So really it depends on WR, new improved aperture ring and.. a little bit the focusing speed. If that’s important and crucial get the new one otherwise get the APD version which is an excellent choice as well (if they had implemented linear motors for AF it would have changed my mind but same old same old here)

      @Cris Photography thanks so much Cris 🙏 Thank you mate. Thanks to you and your reviews, I have added the xf23 f1.4 lm wr and 33 1.4 lm wr to my lens collection. These are good lenses. The only thing is that I still can’t get used to excessive sharpness at closed apertures, I think that I need to be careful with this)) Otherwise, they make me happy. Hey so I have xt3. Is the autofocus better? Higher hit rate with he DC motor? I don't really care about the soft corners on the old one but I want the WR because I'm going to go out in the snow and stuff. Also looking to use it for gimbal potentially. Old 56 has gotten some real money shots. Just need a higher success rate. Is it worth it on xt3?

      Hey there! Thanks for your message. Honestly, I was never a fan of the 50 f1 - WAY too big for a mirrorless setup. Unless you're using and XH2(s), it is very big and cumbersome - especially for that 1/3 of a stop more over the 56mm f1.2! The motors are better for AF but that's something I personally really don't care about (am more of a traditional old school photographer). So based on the above you'll be the final judge :) if you want my totally biased opinion tho... my favorite lens of all times is the 56mm (the first version)

    Come mai su Lightroom Classic , quando vado a caricare le foto in Raw della Fuji , mi elimina la simulazione pellicola applicata mettendomi Adobe rgb ?

      Ciao Antonino, grazie per il tuo messaggio. Quello che succede è che i files Raw (RAF) non vengono affettati dalle simulazioni film - soltanto i JPEG.
      Quindi, quando apri i files su Lightroom non ci sono.
      Quello che devi fare e aprire i tuoi files su Lightroom, poi vai nelle sezione x fare l’editing. Dove cambi la temperatura delle imagini (kelvin) vedrai un icona con quattro rettangoli - vai lì. Vedrai che ci sono tutte le simulazioni di film che puoi applicare alle tue foto.
      È difficile spiegare con un messaggio ma se non trovi dammi la tua email e ti mando uno screenshot.

    Not putting linear focusing motors on this brand new 56mm f1.2 is a total mistake from Fujifilm IMO. Some say they didn't put linear motors in this new lens to avoid cannibalizing the sales of the 50mm f1.0. But that lens has a totally different market. So, it's either Fujifilm made a mistake with not putting linear motors on the new 56mm, or the 50mm f1.0 is a totally unnecessary release which arguably makes it the real mistake Fujifilm did here. Either way, perhaps it would have been better if both have linear motors.

      Compressed means « zipped » so it’s less heavy - but there is no quality loss there. You do need a program to open them tho - like capture one or photoshop. Yes 40mp is big - too big imo. That’s why the T3 is great I think.

      I think it would be too big for professional/amateur, LM setup is only good for wider lens because of smaller glass. If they couldn't do it with 50mm f1, that means its impossible for bigger glass. The 90mm LM is already too big @ F2, imagine at F1-1.2 glass, plus size difference in the 18-33mm is a telling sign its would almost be 2x the original with DC motors. That's why I believe they put a bigger DC motor instead to increase AF just enough for those people missing their shot on the old one.
