I've been watching StarTrek "In order" with a friend recently... the order we're watching isn't this. We started with Enterprise, everything except the final episode. Then we went to Discovery seasons 1 and 2. Then Strange new worlds. And we're now watching The original Series. (though we're thinking we need to watch most of the Short Treks) We're going to watch The Animated Series. Then the first 6 movies And then we're going to try and watch TNG, DS9, Voyager and the rest of the movies pretty much in release order. Yes, that does include trying to alternate DS9 episodes between TNG and Voyager episodes, with the final of Enterprise near the end of TNG season 7. Then Lower Decks, Prodigy, Kelvin movies, The last short, Picard then the rest of Discovery, in that order. Did I miss anything? If you were trying to watch the entire series in a complete block... I'd keep it more or less in the same order, but still advise splitting Discovery into two blocks. the first two seasons should definitely come before Strange new worlds, and the rest of it should come at the end of everything else.
TOS should be the #1 show to watch, for it’s how the franchise was born. It also sets up the basis for all Trek shows that followed it. The other shows have all referenced things from the original, so to get the most out of them, you need the background of the original series!!!

No you should watch Trek in release order. If you watch Enterprise first all the references to other series’ will be completely lost on you and the series Finale literally is a TNG episode so that’s a bad list to put on. With watching it in release order you see the gradual introduction of plot points which will be carried on in a later shows
As someone who watched TOS when it was first being aired I feel I can say this as. Fan of SNW: If TOS had had the money that SNW has, the sets would have been more like something out of 2001: A Space Odyssey. My older sister, who saw the ground-breaking movie at the age of 12 when it first played in theatres, agrees with me there. So does a friend who is not a big fan of SNW, but is of Discovery and Picard. By the way I was hooked on the third season of Picard by the cliff-hanger ending of the second episode. The first two seasonsdisappointed me, so I tell others to watch only the third season too. Costumes on TOS would have been better to with better financing of the series. Take the original Gorn and try and have him lumbering around on SNW! We haven't even seen the adult Gorn on SNW yet. Maybe we never will! As for storylines, I was only disappointed with two, and as a 59 nine year old at the time I did not find the ones I like preachy but expresses modern morals. The Spock, T'Pring and Nurse Chapel triangle has me intrigued. I really like that they have given Christine a personality. There are so many things I could mention but won't, yet I will say that like TNG, DSN and Voyager several of the new characters still have some developing to do, and I think I have possibly seen that in the trailers for Season 2. I will also say that I am glad it is episodic and that the tenth episode of Season 1 is my favourite so far. Also just want to remind you that SNW does take place in the our universe's future timeline.
Start with the OG Original Series and the animated series then move through the first six feature films. Follow that up with The Next Generation series and the TNG feature films, excluding Nemesis. After that, it is time for a bit of DS9 followed up with Voyager, finally ending season 3 of Picard (only season 3). This completes the "original arc" of Star Trek (at least to me). After that, a short detour into Star Trek Enterprise is in order followed by some Strange New Worlds in order to fill in some of the earlier franchise story. Nothing else is needed after that because nothing else exists.
Thank this channel for highlighting The Orville. Not here, but I say it is a good sidebar to anthology. I was in second grade for the original series and told my therapist in the 1990's that it was my parallel to other kids' religious education. Fan of TNG, DSN, and Voyager.

STD is supper jarring after watching all the other star trek, I don’t recommend watching this one at all, the writing is terrible, Picard season one and two is also terrible, none of it makes any sense, but season 3 is an improvement
It’s interesting u suggest watching enterprise… I would as well.. one place most people say is to focus on the xindi arc but I like the first 2 seasons as well.. I love the xindi arc but for people wanting to knowing what to expect from Star Trek I think first 2 seasons are good choice
I'm just not enjoying anything new since Enterprise ended. That was the end of an era for me, and all these new movies and shows just... don't feel like Star Trek to me. So having said that, I like to watch classic Star Trek on a loop. When I first started this I began with the original series, followed by its movies, followed by TNG and its movies, then DS9, then VOY, and then ENT. After finishing Enterprise I then loop back to the original and continue as before. I never tire of it, I see new things and new connections every time, and all of the classic Trek leaves me feeling good and positive.
As far as the Enterprise Bridge in Discovery and Strange New Worlds I think its what Gene Roddenberry would use if he had the tech that exists in the 2020's back in the 60's
I've watched almost all of them but I struggle to get through Enterprise. I can't vibe with the crew. The only one I liked was the Vulcan. But I HAVE to watch it for the lore so I have to pull through😩
I warmed up to Archer's crew. Tripp gets developed better than most of the characters. Hoshi is cool too, and as I'm rewatching it now for the first time, I am liking them more. Archer is cool. LLAP @grace2203 !
I maintain they need to stop treating Picard as a series with 3 seasons, and just split it into 3 standalone adventures. Prodigy is definitely the show people need to be giving more love. I'd be very interested to see where all of these things land in retrospect. Look back at a "Watch order" video in 20 years when all is said and done.
there is NOTHING of the current era that is worth your time to watch. thus nothing from the 2009 movie to ANYTHING that is going to be released in the near future is worth your time to watch
Star Trek: The Original Series, known in the 60's simply as "Star Trek". The "TOS" is for "The Original Series". It's just for fans to differentiate it from TNG, Star Trek: The Next Generation or DS9 and so on. LLAP!

If you are new to Star Trek, I strongly recommend to SKIP Discovery and every show connected to it, like Strange New Worlds and the comming up "Section 31" Let me explain why: Discovery will confuse you, and mess up EVERYTHING which is canon in the Star Trek universe, while stay as far to be a good Star Trek as could be. Season 1 ruin the Klingons look like dyslexic LOTR space orcs with no reason. Season 2 ruin Section 31 a secret organization in Starfleet which offically NEVER existed, therefore they never had a Starfleet insignia and starships of their own. (While in Discovery they have) Spore drive. If that technology would ever exist 10 years before the Original series, then Voyager would be a 1 episode show. Not to mention their future ship designs, which not just look unfinished, but fall apart in space after the smallest energy fluctuation. All in all, this is not real Star Trek, and obviusly were made by people who know nothing about Star Trek. JJ Abrams at least made his movies into a new timeline, and explained all his changes with an explanation fit into Star Treks.
I love Star Trek growing up the original series The next generation deep space nine is my all-time favorite I love Voyager I even liked Enterprise I didn't love it Discovery is one of the worst shows of any franchise I have ever sat through it was ungodly boring and has no respect for anything that preceded it Picard season 1 2 or complete trash but they did come back strong in season 3 lower decks is always make me laugh I've never seen prodigy and strange new worlds was just boring
I don't really share your take on Star Trek in general. The biggest difference is how important canon is to you. Whereas to me it's fun to have that sort of continuity, but it's not a big deal if something gets retconned.

STD is supper jarring after watching all the other star trek, I don’t recommend watching this one at all, the writing is terrible, Picard season one and two is also terrible, none of it makes any sense, but season 3 is an improvement

I'm just not enjoying anything new since Enterprise ended. That was the end of an era for me, and all these new movies and shows just... don't feel like Star Trek to me. So having said that, I like to watch classic Star Trek on a loop. When I first started this I began with the original series, followed by its movies, followed by TNG and its movies, then DS9, then VOY, and then ENT. After finishing Enterprise I then loop back to the original and continue as before. I never tire of it, I see new things and new connections every time, and all of the classic Trek leaves me feeling good and positive.
As far as the Enterprise Bridge in Discovery and Strange New Worlds I think its what Gene Roddenberry would use if he had the tech that exists in the 2020's back in the 60's
I've watched almost all of them but I struggle to get through Enterprise. I can't vibe with the crew. The only one I liked was the Vulcan. But I HAVE to watch it for the lore so I have to pull through😩
I warmed up to Archer's crew. Tripp gets developed better than most of the characters. Hoshi is cool too, and as I'm rewatching it now for the first time, I am liking them more. Archer is cool. LLAP @grace2203 !
I maintain they need to stop treating Picard as a series with 3 seasons, and just split it into 3 standalone adventures.
Prodigy is definitely the show people need to be giving more love. I'd be very interested to see where all of these things land in retrospect. Look back at a "Watch order" video in 20 years when all is said and done.
there is NOTHING of the current era that is worth your time to watch. thus nothing from the 2009 movie to ANYTHING that is going to be released in the near future is worth your time to watch

If you are new to Star Trek, I strongly recommend to SKIP Discovery and every show connected to it, like Strange New Worlds and the comming up "Section 31"
Let me explain why: Discovery will confuse you, and mess up EVERYTHING which is canon in the Star Trek universe, while stay as far to be a good Star Trek as could be.
Season 1 ruin the Klingons look like dyslexic LOTR space orcs with no reason.
Season 2 ruin Section 31 a secret organization in Starfleet which offically NEVER existed, therefore they never had a Starfleet insignia and starships of their own. (While in Discovery they have)
Spore drive. If that technology would ever exist 10 years before the Original series, then Voyager would be a 1 episode show.
Not to mention their future ship designs, which not just look unfinished, but fall apart in space after the smallest energy fluctuation.
All in all, this is not real Star Trek, and obviusly were made by people who know nothing about Star Trek.
JJ Abrams at least made his movies into a new timeline, and explained all his changes with an explanation fit into Star Treks.

I love Star Trek growing up the original series The next generation deep space nine is my all-time favorite I love Voyager I even liked Enterprise I didn't love it Discovery is one of the worst shows of any franchise I have ever sat through it was ungodly boring and has no respect for anything that preceded it Picard season 1 2 or complete trash but they did come back strong in season 3 lower decks is always make me laugh I've never seen prodigy and strange new worlds was just boring

I don't really share your take on Star Trek in general. The biggest difference is how important canon is to you. Whereas to me it's fun to have that sort of continuity, but it's not a big deal if something gets retconned.
