Also, what’s your suspension and tire setup? I’m on stock wheels on my ‘91 Miata with a moderate turbo (FMs voodoo II) and it’s very easy to lose traction if I wind out the throttle. And I can’t be making more than 200hp.
Running 225/50/15 proxie 4s’s which are very big sticky tires for a Miata, also I went down to a 3:08 rear end ratio which really prevents losing traction too! And running BC racing coils and E36 front sway bar.

@@slightlyMADcustoms andddd as soon as i make this build come true i will DEFINITELY be making plenty of vids about it and ill be making sure to give you TONS of credit for giving me the idea, much love bro!
This is probably a stupid question, but I’ve always really wanted to make something like this, a build between a sleeper and something flashier, but never knew where to start and never knew if I’d have the adequate money. How cheaply and how easily could I do something like this? Would it be plausible to learn as I go, or is a project like this something you need a lot of experience for?
Never a stupid question! It’s definitely something you can learn as you go, just make sure to learn how and where to ask for help! Facebook car groups and other car guys are usually a wealth of knowledge to help for any project you want to do. And I’d say you can build something really fun between 15000-25000 just based on what you want. We have a whole price breakdown and swap guide that covers all the basics on our channel if you want to take a look at that, and if you want more info just send me a DM on Instagram @lowla_smc !

@@slightlyMADcustoms I appreciate it man. I'll head over and watch.i like projects where you see just how cheap you can be but still go fast. Im not so much worried about the transmission as I actually have a 4l60e laying around, and most likely the doner car/truck would have one as well. Exhaust manifold is as simple as some pie cuts here and there. Now the rear end you're probably right I can get a ford 8.8 for around $400 but I didn't even think about mounting and axles so I'll just call it $1500-2000. I only asked because I keep seeing people say $20000 but from what I can tell that's to make it reliable, look good and handle better. I'm going to look at a couple of clapped miatas this week but I'll definitely hit you up when I start the swap if I get stuck.
No problem! Yeah the common thing is that even if you do it “cheap” for around 10-15k including the Miata purchase price, you now have a car that you really like that’s almost perfect and the spending doesn’t stop hahaha. Usually once you have that much money into a Miata now you’re dying to spend another 5k on new wheels, tires, suspension, etc.

For a V8 swapped Miata you have to replace the whole drivetrain. None of the stock stuff can handle all that torque. You need a stronger transmission such as the TKO or T56, a upgraded driveshaft, a Ford 8.8 differential, as well as upgraded heavy duty axles.

My guy. You got a couple minutes of cinematic montage. All sorts of angles, distances, and styles. As we were talking we were just casually driving with traffic. You’d probably just be watching the back end of a Honda Civic
@@slightlyMADcustoms I drive a 530HP Cobra, girl....so I doubt that you have a Civic that's faster. We want to see the acceleration of the car going down the road to experience its performance; you don't get that from a drone footage nor your goofy face ho'ing for the camera.
No no I mean we were driving in traffic so if we faced the camera forward you would be watching the rear end of a random car out the windshield. I’m sorry we disappointed you. We’ll do better next time
@@slightlyMADcustoms You had plenty of drone footage of the car being by itself which meant that a camera could've been mounted to take the view through the windshield. But look, I admit that I did come at you like an a-hole, ok I admit that....but I do mean well, hahah. And props to you for this Miata being your own project car ...which I just found out by actually watching the beginning.
Ya not feeling the love lol. You’re right we could have filmed out the windshield there. There was one shot where the camera was mounted on the trunk facing forward which was sorta what you were after. Next summer we’ll get more front facing footage for you. The thinking was while he’s talking and explaining, we film him talking. That’s what feels most natural for people to watch.
Thanks for th review, friends. Why did you not "give us a ride in the Miata," by offering a whole lot more passenger seat view, instead of constantly focusing on the driver? Your commentary is fine, but we came here to look at the car, not the driver. The views from the drone & camera vehicle were a great edition, but unless your purpose is to use this clip as an audition, you missed your mark. No? Then put a stopwatch on the camera shots. This clip features the driver talking about a car he is driving. Please take this as constructive criticism, because, you can do much better. May subscribe & share later, if you focus on the automobile & it's features, which is what the subject of the clip is supposed to be about.

If you’re daily driving it all summer you might care
Why do we need to see your goofy face when you're driving? Why can't you point the camera through the windshield?
Okey
