Actually, Steam OS on the Deck has a check box for Switch button layout. Just un-check that box on the settings for this controller and it will use the Xbox layout. Also, at the end, your audio mix was way too loud while talking.
I've personally not had any issue with the controller disconnecting, but i did notice when i plugged it into my pc via the wire and did the software updater application, it listed the 2.4ghz wireless was improved connectivity, so perhaps that's the issue? i've also not had any issue on my steamdeck buttons, it plays like the xbox controller so there may be some setting you need to change.

Can you set up a profile for you steam deck where you already made the button mapping ? I just ordered one and would appreciate your input thanks .
Luckily, you can use many of the steam community profiles and it works great! You can also do Xbox controller profile and it will work fine.
