Im all for a real social media platform that actually works for us photographers like instagram did before it was sold to FACEPLANT, but what I dont like about THREADS with it being another Facebook/Instagram/Meta platform is the ability for them to start adding algorythms that only help those who pay and or spend all day on it to promote and increase their following. But the worst thing I read is if you decide Threads is not for you and you want to delete the app, you also have to delete Instragram also. No ifs but or wherefores. One goes the other does too. And that kind of monopoly over my work is one reason I wont be adding threads under my Main Insta account.
Fair enough mate, I don't really love the whole Meta thing either... but FB - IG and now probably even more so in the next year on Threads is where everyone will be...so if you want to connect with the crew thats where they are going to be at, I wish I could just hang out over at Vero but there's hardly anyone there...and that will probably be instagram soon

I've always detested Instagram, mainly due to the aspect ratio. I've never used it, HarneyPhoto makes a good comment stating that if you decide to shut down Threads you have to shut IG as well. For me that doesn't matter and I have no tribe. I do wonder what would be the best size image to put on Threads i.e. if you save a sharpened for web file should it be no more than 1000px on the long edge. I've tried searching for this but not found anything yet.
Yeah, Im not sure on the ideal sizings yet, I will probably just play around with it and see what works best, so far images are looking okay, I am uploading them at 2500px longest side
@@dreamlifephotography I added one at 2000x3000. I'm sure someone will figure out whether the larger sizes are being compressed sooner later.
@@And-rc9yy I'd say they have some sort of compression, but really we are borrowing a space on someone else's platform...so getting someone to your own space whether that be print or website where you have got some control is the goal, social is just a free opportunity to link someone to where you would rather view your work
Threads is way too similar to twitter for my liking. I don't understand why Vero never took off. It's one of the better ones.
Yeah right... I never really been on Twitter so I wouldn't know.... the styling and images do look best on Vero hey??
