one thing that most people miss is that you don't have to share it with anyone. You don't have to gain followers and seek external validation. You can do photography just for you
Well said that man. That’s kinda where I am right now and tbh I’m making work that I’m really happy with and also by analysing my own work critically I see opportunities to refine, improve or just use certain traits that appear to offer jumping off points for further experimentation. Highly recommend it 🙏🏻
Facebook is actually quite a good platform to share your photos on I discovered recently, especially (or mainly) in groups though. There are large groups for all types of photography. When joining those groups, the algorithm around it works pretty well too - you get to see a good amount of photos shown from various groups you‘re in. Really started to enjoy it.
I agree that Threads may be the best place to share for the sake of sharing. Now may be the perfect time to take advantage of it before it really blows up.
Glad you’re finding Threads beneficial. I’ve been on a few months now. Hardly any interaction or likes. Photos are basically a repeat of what’s on IG. Apart from the ability to post in landscape orientation I can’t see any advantage I’m afraid.
Interesting to hear your experience! I do find that when I go out of my way to create unique content for Threads it does much better, rather than copying what I posted on Instagram
I am also finding traction with my photography on Threads. I also find it easy to reset the algorithm if I start seeing stuff I don’t like, such as all the Fujifilm X100VI hate. I fully expect it to turn to garbage because it’s Meta, but for now it is really good for photography.
I've definitely been looking at Threads since there really isn't a photo app since Instagram killed it, and with the new addition of being able to search for specific words hopefully people can start to find it easier. Very sleek UI too, I'm sure it'll become a cluttered mess like every app in due time but for now it's nice and minimal like I like it.
100% agree! I hope they don’t put together a classic Meta roadmap for it, the pipeline of - good app > bloated constantly changing app with too many features > an app people get tired of and only old people use, seems to be way too strong over there
I really wish someone would make a photograpry app for mobile that was intended to be used horizontally. I feel like it wouldn't matter to have your phone sideways, if the entire app was made to be used like that.
Agreed. I found Twitter insufferable, and no matter how much I curated my feed, I kept being bombarded by progressive politics. With Elon taking over that has stopped, except for a lot of Elon bashing that make sit through, ironically, but now it is just whining and people trying to sell stuff. It really is just a dumpster fire, always have been.
Great video..I feel like IG has been dead for a couple of years now. As for threads..I'm not on it, but my question is..sure you can find other photographers who want to engage with your work.. but that doesn't pay the bills. How are working photographers finding Threads for connecting with actual paying clients?? Would love to hear from ya before I dip into another app I won't be using in a month or so :P
We’ll have to see what happens! I do feel like Instagram is massively overvalued by brands at the moment, would love to see that dissapate to other platforms sooner rather than later. I do think Threads is in a great position to lead the charge though with Meta’s backing and a growing user base. The fact it’s linked to your Instagram profile as well makes it easy for DMs from brands etc!
Threads is low key the same as all the other social media platforms, hogged by influencers who are already big everywhere else and getting most of the tractions
Haha, my thoughts as well. I wonder if Threads is the next bandwagon, everybody jumps on and off in 6 months time. Also it's Meta and if we learned a thing or two with that company: They change their algorithms from one day to another and if they don't see photography as something to keep people busy on their platform, they will make sure other content will be favoured.
Yeah interesting, I haven’t heard anything about Vero since that big push! I think where Vero went wrong is it only appealed to photographers, whereas you’d want a platform to have an audience of photographers and non-photographers to give you some decent exposure I think

100%! I actually feel like there’s a massive difference between the photos I share and the photos I take for myself

Wow, I hadn’t thought of this and will have to investigate!

100%, fingers crossed it continues to gain momentum!
Love the vibe of this video.
Thank you! That’s very kind

as a beginner in photography, this is really helpful thank you!
I'm so glad!

Would definitely be an interesting concept and one I could get on board with! Would be a lot more captivating/immersive
I think Vero is meant to do that but I’m not sure that it’s taken off either.
Funny video, I followed you on threads. I look forward to your film type content.
Welcome aboard!
There is also a newcomer in beta right now -- fotos.
I’ve heard a bit about it, but not really looked into it much, I’ll have to read up on it!
Great video and insight 🤜🏾🤛🏼
Glad you enjoyed it!
X or twitter has always had bots and scams going on 😄 isn't all Elon to blame tbh
True, although im not sure he has made X a better place to be 😅

Not sure about that one! I feel like because it’s new, now is a good time to claim some real estate as a smaller creator!
I use instagram to post my photo but dont know why even i use hastags also very hard to let people see it
Yeah I agree, not sure hashtags ever really worked for me, they just got picked up by spam bots
Threads is a good place - if you like weird discussions and whining 🤣
Haha the algorithm obviously thinks you want to see it 😉
4:00 Just post landscape anyway. Who cares. Let people turn their devices.
Would maybe work if you posted a landscape reel, but a landscape image to the feed…?
@@gabrielbailey802 “there’s an app for that” which would allow you to either pan across the grid or within it across square posts.
Whatever happened to Vero that everyone was switching to?

no.
I'm 💯 Agree with you about those platform, But lately I'm more active on LinkedIn, Behance and Dribble
What are your thoughts on this Platform.
Damn, I have literally never thought about posting on LinkedIn! Will check out Behance and Dribble for photography though, sounds super interesting
I’m liking innovative creators on LinkedIn, and niche creators on Behance. Both are only really expert tier, rather than hobbyists.
