    I never told my employers that I had 7 years of Spanish during my schooling. One day we all had to make collection calls and, from the notes on the patient's account, I knew I would have to speak Spanish. After a short phone conversation I hung up. It was dead quiet in the office and everyone was staring at me. My boss asked why I never said I spoke Spanish? I said I was not fluent and went back to placing calls. We never spoke of it again.

      Probably not. I've found that applicants that treat interviews as if the company is also auditioning wind up better than those that just take the base offer or don't hold firm stances. Not always, mind you. But as the saying goes, closed mouths don't get fed.

    She gets a pretty good bump in pay over the other transcribers that only speak english and once she can transcribe in Japanese she will get another pretty big bump up in pay.

    I worked in a collection center years ago. The company did collection for several cable companies across the US. They finally placed most of the Spanish speakers in one que. I was so happy because my Spanish speaking coworkers were going to get more $ per hour!!! English calls came into their que so they were doing double the work. I saw them exhausted from switching languages and vernacular. They deserved every bit of that raise!!!❤

    Funny story at my last employer I was written up for speaking to customers in Spanish which I picked up while living for 20 plus years in Texas. Due to the fact that the folks who were supervisors did not know Spanish and were unable to "tell what I was saying to them" was correct or not. Also when our calls were centered in Texas I would drop into the Texas drawl I picked up living there ( for 20 + years} with out noticing and this was also write up offence. Long story short I was discharged due to my ability to speak with folks in Texas, where this company had a large call volume.

      I'm qualified as a documentation librarian and they currently have me doing data validation. They also have me receiving regular extra bonuses and free days off I don't have debited against my PTO because this is so far outside my job description it's a) not funny and b) so not funny they're aware they're pushing it.

She was a better Secretary and everyone knew that except her. She might been really important and had more workskills then me but at the end I earned 20% more and worked 25% less. The interviewer effed up and prematurely showed their hand. Should've waited until AFTER hiring the employee before trying to exploit their multi-lingual skills. That way the ball would be in the employee's court to determine if it would be worthwhile to renegotiate their contract. But at the pre-hire stage they need to ante up if they try to make that skill a REQUIREMENT.

      If you are getting paid hourly than yes, get a bonus for your skills. If you are salaried though, add in all your training and experience into what your salary is and accept that you may be called to do that work while doing business. It's a great selling point and can help you land that job. If it's going to be outside your normal work and they just expect you to add more time in, then discuss benefits you can get if it becomes a lot of work.

If you pull a "Veronica" over every issue, you'll just get a reputation for being difficult and no one will take you seriously and you can find yourself isolated. • @TheChamp789

    Is Veronica interviewing for a consultant position or to be a full-time employee? Sounds like a full-time employee, which means that she can't invoice the company for performing certain tasks that are simply part of her job. The only extra compensation she can hope to receive as a full-time employee is either a raise or time and a half for any overtime she works.
    It's not a favor, boss. It's part of the job. You're setting up the company for liability by calling it a "favor".
    I can't believe Veronica is talking like this on a job interview. I would never hire someone with her attitude; I wouldn't trust her to do accurate translations.

    • @MorinoRavenberg
      @MorinoRavenberg หลายเดือนก่อน +13

      That still doesn't take away the fact that no employer should ever even remotely ask any extra tasks or expect the similar without any extra compensation. They just come off as very parasitic then.

    • @southernguy35
      @southernguy35 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If she has this attitude now and you don't hire her, she can't come back and do the nasty videos she did earlier of the nagging employee. Perhaps she might be getting the job because she can speak three languages. But, she just needs to say either she's getting paid for it or not and then shut up about it rather than droning on and on and on like she does in every video she makes with that horrible accent she has.

    • @marianieto1237
      @marianieto1237 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well the interviewer did say that her translation services were not included, therefore, it is an extra task that the company would love to have her for. Anyways, the interviewer did say that they have translator services it just seems to me like they have to go that extra mile. So it seems to me that if they are willing to go that extra mile when they don’t have Veronica around (or any employee that is qualified), then they should compensate her for the times that she is both available AND use her translator services.
      However, In a way I kind of feel like she may have hurt herself in that regard too, because the interviewer did say that they have a translator service, so she didn’t make herself exactly stand out, but somehow she still managed to make herself seem valuable because she would be in house. So I can kind of see your perspective.

      Lol "I would never hire someone who was straightforward, knew their value and spoke plainly to me in regards to their pay". Noted. Don't work for you. You don't consider your employees and are likely to punish them for being direct with you.
      This is a clear example of an employer trying to save money on a needed service by roping it into an individual employee's tasks without properly compensating them. They say right in the video that they pay someone to do what they are hoping she will do for free, just because she has the skill.
      If it were just "part of the job" then it would be something everyone on the team had to do. Having a skill doesnt mean your employer just gets to use it with impunity irregardless of your actual job description. People train and pay for schooling etc to aquire skills that will make them higher earners. Nobody is trying to help you save money on translation services as a favor boss. Sorry 😂
