    Sounds like an interesting build. The 066 sounds like a good saw for a reed intake conversion to get around the spit back problem. Can't wait to see it run. Cheers Harvey.

    Great work as always. I run the headsaw in a veneer plant and do aurbor work and logging on the side.(you gotta work 3 jobs just to make it anymore) Anyway, I'm 130 soaking wet and those big saws kick my butt, been running a 266 but it's about on its last leg. Love the saw though, would you ever consider revamping it for a little logger from PA? Thanks for considering it and love everything you guys do.

    Happy 4th boy's..I like big power with easy starting..lower compression actually makes a better logging saw..they run way cooler..I ve killed couple 661s that were turned up to hot..might go broke trying to make a living logging around here with this shit economy...I m taking a beating..👍👍

    That saw is similar to mine. I have a Farmmac F660V that I upgraded to a Hyway Big Bore Pop up piston kit. Barely ran it just because my job keeps me busy. 168-170 PSI compression. Deleted base gasket. Was wondering if you think a timing advance would help it at all? I followed your basic porting on the piston (just removed casting flash and broke all the sharp edges) and did a cleanup on the cylinder trying to avoid the plating. It runs amazing and I think I used the same muffler that's on that saw as well. Thing sounds basically like mine does.

    anyone have concerns with Hyway big bore kit ring end gap too tight? I've talked to a couple guys that have messed up some brand new equipment because they hung a ring.... come to find out, we're noticing extremely tight ring end gaps on the hyway kits. Just check yours before you install. 👍

      Secondary compression (in the combustion chamber) does no good if there is NO good Primay Compression in the bottom end giving a good SOLID fuel air HIT coming up when those uppers crack.
      This is where there are trade-offs AND certain idiocicracies with certain saws. Exhaust tuning can also either wake a saw up, OR make it seem like a hopeless turd.
      BTW - Left-overs are AWESOME! Cook once, eat twice!

    Interesting build Ironhorse love to see how that ms660 runs with the transfer work and Wiseco piston. But if it don't workout my opinion I would put a Hyway 54mm kit with a popup piston try to do alittle flow work to the cases and keep the exhaust timing at 102 - 97 degs Hyway out of the box has good intake numbers and texture the intake run a hd2 air filter . The bigbore 56 mm kits don't seem to run very well. The port volumns are too big.

    • @mikeschwagmeyer1347
      @mikeschwagmeyer1347 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you referring to the nikasil cylinders, Titanikel cylinders, or both? I'm waiting for a couple 56's to get to me, but I'm told the Titanikel timing numbers and overall porting is completely different from the nikasil cylinders. I'm interested in your opinion. Thanks.

    • @kennytheguitarfanatic054
      @kennytheguitarfanatic054 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mikeschwagmeyer1347 Mainly the nikasil but interesting the titanikel 56 mm has different timing let me know how it turns out. But I believe one problem with the ms 660 saws they may not have the case volume to support a 56mm but a ms 661 has a 56 mm bore stock and has smaller stroke 37 mm ms 660 has a 40 mm stroke. Also the 661 is stronger than a 660 stock.

    • @mikeschwagmeyer1347
      @mikeschwagmeyer1347 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kennytheguitarfanatic054 Thanks for the response. I'll let you know how the Titanikel turns out when I get all my parts.
      If it times close to stock, I won't grind the ports. My interest is to determine if a cylinder bolt on can best OEM and by how much.
      You have a point about the case volume. I'll see. I've seen some strong non stock 660's.
      I agree 100% about 660 v 661. I think the 660 is weak out of the box. Seems some of the older 066's were much stronger. I don't have any of the older sought after 066 cylinders for comparison, but my guess is Stihl made some changes to the 660 cylinder.
      We both know Stihl is capable of building a strong saw. Maybe the EPA was a factor.
      I'll touch base when finished. Thanks.
