Honestly your builds are my favorite saws above all the competitors they rip like hell. Crack and pull just like buckin talks about and sound phenomenal God Bless Keep er going
I remember first watching you do this many years ago and being completely blown away with the amount of detail and thought you've put into the whole process. and then talking through it as you're doing it and showing someone who knows nothing about this art form, which is what i see it as, where you're giing with it. it's so good to see you again doing your thing, what a treat thank you so much for sharing your incredible work over the years and for creating some really amazing saws
Man you dont stop surprising me with new trick. I would like to have your knowledge. But i feel i want to know and do everything haha. For sure i want to read on porting and get informed even more. Thanks for sharing what you know with this family.
these videos are like therapy in an insane world, ive actually ported a few things now , biggest difference i see is alot more run time and they dont bog down under load like they did.
Looking good my friend and nothing like a Husky rebuild. I was able to see in person the husky saw you rebuilt for Buckin at the first Bunyan event. It is a beast. 👍👍♥️
Glad to see you back missed you! You look so much better. I’ve been collecting some parts to do a stihl 036 build. FYI would love to have a 365 husqvarna that you built thanks for sharing your knowledge can’t wait to see it these saws built . Looks like the Chevy block in here has been machined and painted look forward to videos of it as well glad you brig us along

It's so good to see u back at it,& doin better with health. Guess prayer really helps bc I know there was alot of us on here praying for u & ur family. Great video too
I used a 268 piston in a clone build I did with no machining. The piston skirt is shorter on the 268 so the inlet timing was more than I wanted at 62 degrees without increasing the inlet at all. If I machined and took the extra gaskets out that inlet timing would be larger. I was surprised it runs so well and the tuning is very stable which was a relief. Looking forward to see how you get around the problem. Cheers Harv.
always interesting to see what your up to, something that might make your fixture align a little quicker is a tapered hole with a taper on your bolt holding device, similar to a Bridgeport milling machine.
IRONHORSE, when you get excited like you are in this video, you are emitting so much positive energy, that the hair on our heads are standing up tall:) IRONHORSE, you are the True Fountain Of Youth for everyone worldwide:)🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏💖💖💖💖💖💖💖👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Harvey that's why a lot of guys like the jonsered 2171 cus they made them longer than the 371 xp , and your 💯 correct about the timing numbers, you don't have to do much to those older 371 or 2171 cylinders to make them make power , all my 2171 are lightly ported and they run really strong.
IRONHORSE, God Bless and Protect you and your family:) You repair, heal and save souls, every time you share your life and words of wisdom with everyone worldwide:)
Hey buddy..I d rather run those than the new 372s for sure..we have couple 2071s still going..the new auto tune stuff isn't for us around here..372 x torque we get stuck with if we want new...lol👍👍
Is it better for transfers to be smoothed out for theoretical velocity or rougher to keep the fluid in suspension? Ive tried both, not sure if it makes a difference.
You want transfers and intake to be textured. Exhaust you want smooth polished finish. Edit: intake and transfers textured so the fuel wont puddle and exhaust smooth so that the carbon wont stick so bad.
That's the wrong 268 piston, you want the open port 268 piston, it has solid sides similar to the 372 piston. It's better but still not as good as the 371 piston with the base cut. Everyone and their dog has done this piston swap, the 266/268 piston with the windows doesnt run as good as the one with the solid sides which isnt as good as the stock piston with the base cut. It's a case volume/compression thing.
Never tell people how to port their saw... the 268/372 piston swap was invented back around in 1997/98 and many porters have used it. Also some people just want different kind of power band and manners in their saw.
@@Super-Dave-Outdoors please read my previous post again. And go and think about it. Not everybody wants there saw run the same. Also there is more to it than just performance difference. I have not tried this piston swap, but one day i think i will. Edit:IIRC Harvey also prefers to have more case volume....
@@theironhorse6600 Thank you! Im still learning all the theory. Out of curiosity what are youre reasons to cut the squish band/combustion chamber or not?
Ok, lighter is faster, but you are matching that lighter piston to a stock crank that is counter weighted for a stock heavier piston. Therefore lighter piston is not balanced well with crank, so you will get more vibrations and possibly more load on crank bearings and case housing.
@@bhocewar i did read that couple times before i commented first time... Chainsaw is mostly single cylinder 2 stroke engine so it can never be balanced optimally. Are you aware that Husqvarna 371 chassis had 4 different displacement saws? 362xp was 47mm, 365 was 48mm, 372xp was 50mm and 372xpw was 51,4mm bore. and they all had the same crankshaft and bearings. So there was different weight pistons on that same crankshaft from the factory. Husqvarna also did that in their previous 61,268,272xp series where the bore sizes were 48mm, 50mm and 52mm. Stihl has done that in the past and many others and saws lasted just fine.
You ol’ rattle snake, thank you 🙏
Thanks buckin!

Hey Ironhorse. Do you ever cut the squish band on these 372/371? If so, what is a good amount to cut out of the squish for a work saw?

Every gram you can take off the piston is beneficial on a 2 stroke.
