Filling butane bottles with propane should only be used at freezing or lower.
Room temperature for example can cause a propane filled butane tank to explode due to high pressure.
In a hot car in the summer, best to have hearing protection, body armor, and fire extinguisher handy.
I would use extreme caution filling a butane canister with propane. Propane has a much higher pressure and may cause the butane canister to erupt.

I totally agree with you. Unless you really know what you are doing adding propane to a butane canister is dangerous. Especially the butane only canister he was using. It is engineered only for butane not propane-lower pressure, thinner steel. Iso butane canisters are designed stronger because the mix is about 9% propane.
@@gregsantos9392 actually, the mix is often 80/20. Many manufacturers used to sell a summer blend that was closer to 10% propane, but it seems they've all moved to a year-round winter blend of 80/20.

yeah like some commented you shouldn't put propane in a butane tank. It expands too much and can explode in hot temps. Propane tanks are thicker. But you can put butane in a propane tank. No problem. you can also of course transfer propane to a propane tank and butane to a butane tank. good to have the tank you are filling cold and the one doing the filling hot or warm.

The steel in propane bottles are much thicker to deal with the increased pressure from propane gas. I know it has been mentioned in the comments, but it cannot be overstated enough. It is very dangerous to use a very substandard canister to hold propane. Those canisters with lindal valves being one of them.
So if converting from isobutol setup to propane use the adapter and use the propane bottle rather than pumping propane in the isobutol canister? Is that the way to go instead?
@@invictawarrior I’m saying the refillable propane bottles are much thicker to contain propane. Propane gas has more pressure than isobutane which is why the cylinder for propane is stronger. It should be overkill for the isobutane I’d think. The only downsize is the weight of the propane cylinders being heavier but safer in my opinion. Just don’t put pure propane in the isobutane cylinders as they are too thin to safely contain it.

The propane to butane can scenario worries me if I’m going to be honest. Have you ever filled one of those and then left it sitting in the Winslow AZ sun? Any issues?
I did. I even knew NOT to do it. Don't refill more then 30% of max weight of plain propane from 1lbs green bottle. It will explode. I have pictures to prove it

Refilling propane into these thin-walled Isobutane-Propane canisters is an accident waiting to happen. Personally, I would only refill empty Isobutane-Propane canisters with straight Butane. Butane works fine for temps 45*F or higher.
Totally fine to add some propane, just don't exceed the tank's original specification (probably 20% propane by weight).
A little teflon tape on the propane container threads might help.
I have no way to weigh anything so I am stuck not venting air to allow for expansion.
This summer where I live you could not find the green propane cans, they were sold out right off the shelf, lucky I have an adaptor that allows me to fill the propane can off a bigger bbq propane bottle. and reuse the green can, mix that one with the propane adaptor you just showed and you have almost unlimited propane to use your stove.

now all's you need is an adaptor for 20lb propane tanks or bigger , I had one , it's a short hose , was about $15

There’s a reason why propane canisters are made of much thicker steel than iso-propane/butane canisters. For the safety of your viewers/subscribers, I suggest that you confess to not knowing what you’re talking about.
I think refilling that nozzle type canister with propane is very dangerous.
I think some countries (France ?) actually ban this type of adapter and technically it is illegal to import one from an overseas online seller. There must be some reason for that. Safety perhaps?

Mine leaks a lot at the isobutane junction when i try to add the butane no matter how tight i make it. Must be defective. Tried several containers. Same for all

To stop the leaking, always put your adaptor on your stove or transfer valve first, then attach the gas canister. It should have been in the instructions.
I just bought one of these, the are NO instructions. Not a paper whatever, just the parts in a padded bag.
That's why I'm watching this...
Please note: Isobutane is R600a refrigerant.
Freeze the tanks you are trying to fill. To get full fill in empty tank.
With the air-release-valve you don't need to freeze the canister or heat the other one. If you release the air, the canister feels much colder. If the canister is full, no more air can be released and gas comes through the valve. But at least there must be some air in the canister. So don't overfill.

No good idea! This is dangerous! Comparing the pressure charts of prop and butane, the refilled canister has to be kept below 20⁰C under any circumstances to be on the safe side. Remember sun shine as well. And keep them always 100% empty during summer.
