    I know this makes me the biggest geek perhaps in the known universe, but i was thrilled to see your vids because my 2008 Xfire is EXACTLY THE SAME COLOR COMBO AS YOURS. INSIDE AND OUT!

      BrandonHarken thanks for watching, good luck with your repair! I post a couple Crossfire videos per year. Feel free to subscribe if you want to stay on top of the work I'm doing.

      I will definitely subscribe, would love for you to do a video on replacing the door bar handle at the bottom... the big bar you grab to close the door... it snapped off and im trying to find one cheaper than $200... seems like thats the going price.

      BrandonHarken great idea. Mine is chipped and sharp on the back.

    that sounds like you're doing the repair in the middle of an interstate! I have found that there is a simpler solution at least temporarily, to a sagging headliner in my crossfire. I have used a syringe with waterproof Carpenters adhesive in it. First thing to do is fill the syringe then use a plastic pen without the refills in it to make very small holes in the sagging headliner. Gradually you will be able to attach the headliner back to the shell underneath. This is not a completely factory job as far as the look of it but it does put off the necessity to redo the entire headliner for awhile. my local garage was going to charge me $2500 to replace the headliner. I hope my temporary solution might prove to be used for some of us!

      Naw, my garage faced a busy road back then. Glad you found a solution, this worked for me.

    Thank you for posting this valuable video. Calling around this week for professional estimates to replace my headliner...and YIKES...the quotes started at 200.00...up to 500.00. Your step by step is certainly something to consider. Thanks again! Peace friend.

    Haven't read all the comments yet but I would recommend using the newspaper template to make a poster board template which would be easier to hold in place as you could force the edge up against the area where the glass meets the rubber seal and tape only the bottom of the shield poster board.

    • @glencouls
      @glencouls  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      great idea, I may just do that and keep the template around for both sides, by just flipping the poster board over. Makes the job a little more expensive, of course unless you have extra posterboard laying around. nice idea.

    Exact same issue with my own XFire. I've decided to just get it replaced with fresh everything since its still under 100,000 miles & deserves the sprucing up. Amazing job by the way! I wouldn't trust myself to do it.

      +Jonathan D. R. Hall-Neal-Bayne (Johnny) Hey, thanks for the compliment. I actually have new interior fabric picked out. I just ran out of time to install it this summer. It will have to wait until next spring, that's why I made this video... I figured others might be saving up to do the project, but needed a fix to get them t through. I'll make a video of the full replacement too. Please check back then and see how it turns out. We have cool cars, let's keep them running so we can enjoy them for as long as we can.

      Definitely post this to the Chrysler Crossfire forums! I'm on my second XFire (love em) & had the exact same issue on the older one too. Excellent submission.

      +Jonathan D. R. Hall-Neal-Bayne (Johnny) Oh, yeah... The bumps and curls in the preformed headliner are really too bold for the material. You really have to tug on the material to get it to lay right. I'm not shocked if this happens on every Xfire, no matter how well the car is taken care of.

    Still have your Crossfire? How is the Headliner now after 5+ years?

    • @glencouls
      @glencouls  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @brentmulligan1970 this repair held for 2 years. Then one morning I came out and the headliner was sagging in the middle. The repair at the front left was one of the few areas where it was holding tight! I would call that a win, however there was no easy way to use the spray in the middle without severely screwing up the material. I have a video on here about cleaning up the headliner backer board and replacing the entire headliner. That is still up and holding fast!

    Do you know how to remove the entire roof ? I need to put back the part from roof top and i need to change my antenna module but don't have any access..

    • @glencouls
      @glencouls  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, these instructions are for the Chrysler Crossfire, remove the sun shades, the front pillars, the cab light and automatic garage door assembly, the rear shells just enough to pull the headliner out (forward). Simply pull the rubber weather stripping away from the headliner board and entire assembly will drop down. Pictures are worth a thousand words, so here is a video: th-cam.com/video/atCh8fOvsH0/w-d-xo.html

    you said the glue , at first, comes out like silly string. Why not spray that outside the car onto something to get past the silly part?

    • @glencouls
      @glencouls  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It comes out like a web for the entirety of the job. It's kinda like the front is sticking to the back, and it's coming out like a spiral if that make any sense. Yes, you might want to spray on some cardboard to get the pattern down. Sorry, I wasnt very descriptive. It's kind of hard to describe. My "replace the entire headliner" shows this off pretty well. Thanks for your comment.

    I don't get why you have a napkin behind the fabric, can't you just spray the glue up there and lay the fabric down? You are putting the fabric on the glue anyway, right?!

    • @glencouls
      @glencouls  9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Steve Johnson, When the adhesive first sprays out, it comes out like crazy string, but for the first few seconds it very quickly permeates the foam, fabric, and any other porous material. The liquid in the glue rises to the surface, because the foam acts like a sponge and instantly soaks up the liquid. Once the liquid saturates the fabric, it's ruined, discolored, crunchy, and slightly pitted like cellulite on Brittany Spears' thighs. Nobody wants that in their interior, so keep the discoloring juices of your interior and lay down a napkin first.

    People this is a backyard fix. Temporary. If its starting to fall just redo the whole thing. I do this for a living. This guy just looking for TH-cam hits. Probably trying to sell a lemon car. Beware!!!

    • @glencouls
      @glencouls  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are wrong on most accounts of your statement except for being a temporary fix, but it held for two years. That's putting off a costly expense for 24 months which the owner can revisit again at any time. I did not originally post this looking for youtube hits, I posted it so people at the Crossfire Forum could see my fix for a section of the headliner with many tight rolled edges prone to falling down as the adhesive deteriorates over time. My 'lemon car' is still in my garage today, no longer a daily driver but waiting for a new coat of paint and shocks to be installed. Don't "Beware" but be aware that the fix held nicely for me to better afford the full installation for wich i replaced with a faux suede looking material those videos are also online here on my TH-cam page.

    This is such a messing job. Those sticky foam pieces fall out all over the car. I used Twist pins and I cut out octagon shape 1" pieces of gray, [the color of my headliner] light cardboard. I used a pin and punched tiny holes in the middle of the cardboard and screwed in the twist pins all over where the headliner was sagging. No messing around with spray stuff but it took plenty of cardboard pieces and twist pins. I used the insides of gray cereal boxes for the octagon I" pieces. I got the twist pins from Amazon.

      philanna38 very clever way to keep the fabric up, but I have to say most Crossfire owners aren't going to want little pieces of cereal boxes clinging to the interior of their vehicle.

      I lucked out with the gray color [inside of cereal box] cardboard matching the headliner fabric nicely . It worked out for me with no mess. Thanks for your post.
