Bro, for quite some time now I've been browsing for a monitor but I never pulled the trigger on any of them. My money always went towards other pieces of equipment . I rarely comment on TH-cam but today I got this monitor from amazon and I just wanted to thank you for this video and for everything else that you're doing on your channel, for that matter. God bless you! ✌️ Thanks!
Truth. It's a bit more expensive (taxes), but it's amazing compared to the competition. I've been waiting for mine for over two weeks. This is how the post office works in Denmark.😤
I was on the fence about buying this monitor because the price seemed too cheap for what it stated it offered. Thanks for easing my mind and making my choice easier. Ordered and used your link!
I had one of these for a brief period because I’m not really a video guy so I never cared to get a monitor, but at this price it was worth trying. Ultimately I got rid of it and just stuck with the flippy screen on my canon R6… I’ve since “downgraded” from the R6 to a few older DSLRs that I just prefer the feeling of using, and I wish I had kept the Osee so I could get a more streamlined workflow from my 5Diii and 6D. I think this little monitor is almost in the same camp as a plastic 50mm F1.8 in that it’s cheap enough and useful enough that it’s just always worth owning one. Even if you don’t need it today you might tomorrow and you’re not melting away any equity having one sit on the shelf. Buying one again, keeping it forever, needing it only sometimes.

@@dslrvideoshooter are you sure SWIT isn’t just a rebrand of an OEM product? If I google OSEE products I get local ad results for SWIT, and American search results. And there are a couple of videos by people who seem to think it is the same thing. Seems to me same product is branded SWIT in UK and Scandinavia and OSEE in America.
I am already considering the Osee T7 monitor, and then here's this review. Since I am always looking to save a few bucks while getting the most bang for my bucks I figured the 5 incher could save me a few dollars without sacrificing more than I am willing to. However, the T7 has 3,000 nits, which was got me interested in it at first, and then there is the difference in screen size. If it was screen size only I would change my mind and move to the 5 incher to save money, but I do shoot in bright sunlight and I don't want to sacrifice the nits, and have to crane my neck to see around the hood of the 5 incher. That being said, this 5 incher is an absolutely amazing product at this price point. And as always, amazing review.
OSEE is great. They sent one of their 21.5" production monitors and it's a beast. this is a great budget monitor! I can't wait until we see some of these smaller budget companies start making external recorders.
I'm looking forward to the coming monitor video. I just bought an X-T3 so a monitor is something I'm definitely starting to research for now. This one looks very promising.
1000% I used my XT3 quite a bit without a monitor, and the difference a monitor makes to shooting (even if it’s a boring corporate video) is amazing (especially if you’re using log)
Is this a re-brander SWIT CM-55C ? Looks identical to the one I own. This is most likely the best bang for buck monitor you can buy. I bought it mainly for the micro-usb charging port. I power up my BMPCC4K with an Anker 26800 battery bank and the monitor through micro usb. The setup works with 2x battery bank as well, which gives more hours to operate. With one battery bank it takes around 4 hours before the camera dies.
I have this style of monitor from Swit but 7 inch and 3000nits of brightness with joystick like this one has and maaaaan I love that interface….so quick to use….love it.
Feelworld F5 Pro user here. I just got it 2 months ago and it's my first monitor so I can't compare on experience. It certainly is practical and in the same price range as the reviewed Osee T5. At these prices I think it is a great incentive for anyone to get into using. Mostly I wanted to save my eyes from distinguishing the dozens of status icons on my Sony AX-700's built in screen. (Makes your rig look more impressive to casual observers too , LOL).
The first spec I look for in a monitor is nits. I have a low end field monitor that outputs 500 nits and it's pretty much unusable on sunny days. The OSEE T5 only has 450 nits, so it's a a no sell for me. For outside work you really need 1000+ nits field monitors.
Thanks mate, added to my wishlist, I mainly film hobby stuff in my room and run a mini HDMI cable to the tv just so I can see focus and composition better. This will help out since it is cheap ^_^
Oddly enough, I’m currently watching tons of field monitor reviews and then you came up with this video. Thanks for letting us know about this one as well.
I remember buying a 7" smallHD monitor for $600. Given all the smartphones out there with similar sized nice screens, you know most of the physical components are out there for cheap. It has usually been the software/firmware feature set that has driven the price.
Using A7III with a mounted DJI Rs3Mini. Now running Feelworld monitor. When A7III is connected via USB-C to Gimbal, the monitor will NOT show an image. Unplug the USB-C and monitor works fine. Don’t have to connect the USB-C for gimbal to function but the connection unlocks some gimbal features. Feeling I should return the Feelworld and get this monitor. Thoughts?
Looking forward to your monitor comparisson video and really hoping you mention which monitors correctly interpret the levels from the camera as 0-255 or 16-235 depending on the camera output. Unfortunately the Atomos Shinobi interprets all signals as 16-235, causing the highlight and shadows to clip. This is particularly annoying when loading a custom S-Log3 conversion LUT (the inbuilt conversion doesn't look good at all) as it doesn't give an accurate representation of what the final video will look like. (This was an issue that was fixed after many user complaints with the Ninja, however it seems they never made the same fix/toggle option for the Shinobi) I tried to solve this issue by converting my LUTs in Resolve first with a Node before them to compress full levels to 16-235 and reexporting these, but unfortunately it doesn't fix the issue. It would be amazing to know which monitors correctly display 0-255 levels, particularly when using LUTs, as I will be returning the Shinobi for something else.
Did you ever find out what monitors can do this? I’ve had the same issue and no one has any info on it, it’s driving me nuts! So much money wasted. Would be amazing if anyone had more info!
Looks suspiciously similar to the older smallHd stuff… the joystick, the zoom, the pages… it’s all quite “inspired” let’s say. I love that smallHd stuff, so I think i would prob like this one, but haha yeah, it’s kinda identical tbh.
I bought the Andycine A6 Plus based largely on Caleb's recommendation. It's a great monitor, but I think it's important to talk about brightness because my Andycine monitor is not conducive to outdoor shooting in the sun, even with a hood.
Yeah, same here. I shoot outdoors 99% of the time and it's killing me. I wish I had spent a little more to get a brighter screen. I hope some of the ones he reviews are seriously bright!
@@sutv6754 The 5.5" Andycine A6 Plus that I own is 500 nits. I guess it's pretty decent, but I just happened to find myself using it on very bright days. For direct sunlight, I think you really want a 1000-nit monitor.

so similar to smallHD's operating system, interesting. Seems like a sweet spot in the market with the Focus series discontinued. Does this come in SDI / HDMI version?
I've had an OSEE 17 inch monitor for years. For an on-camera monitor I'd want SDI so the cost will be a lot higher for me, but they're still pretty good. They've clearly lifted the interface from SmallHD but they're one of the better Chinese companies that do that kind of thing. After watching this for the second time months later, I just came across another monitor at the same price point ($125 usd) by Portkeys, but it’s touch screen!!! Have you looked at the Portkeys PT5?
I was waiting for the 12 monitor review to come up. I liked it, but you talked a lot about the latency between the camera and those monitors.. But I came back to rewatch this one to notice you don't talk about it's latency. Whats the latency like on this one?
Purchased this monitor thanks to your video but actually got a HUGE HEADACHE. It disconnects from a camera every few seconds and then reconnects for a few seconds. Constantly! I hate that. After the HDMI-to-microHDMI cable that came along with the monitor had broken after a few hours of use, I really spent several hours (if not say "days") in total trying to find in my home and on market "a decent HDMI cable" that would work well with this monitor, then trying to shoot for a while using my camera and getting the same glitch with every single HDMI cable I tried. My camera's microHDMI port is totally well, it works beautiful with other monitors. I tried several batteries and microUSB cables to charge it, it didn't look like that was the case.
Caleb, I know you focus on video. But would love to see a video on the benefits of field monitor for still photography. With mounting ideas etc, ways to secure HDMI wires etc. I say this because I am seriously thinking about getting a field monitor for my Sony A7R3 instead of switching to A74.
Could this be a good idea for a drone monitor? How would DJI Fly run on it? Really loving your channel budd. Randomly stumbled upon it recently! Cheers.
Also got this monitor and besides its awesome features, there is one major downside you forgott to mansion.. its not very bright.. Indoors is totally fine, but on a sunny day better bring another monitor with more nits.. ;)
Two types of batteries and a dc out to power the camera? Plus usb power input? Now that’s a monitor where some effort went into its design. I don’t need one but want to buy one just as a rewards for a job well done
Are you able to stack multiple aspect ratio guides in a custom page? If I can see what my 9x16 and 16x9 framing is at the same time, that would be awesome!

Today Atomos announced an updated to the Ninja V+ and brings SDI Raw compatibility to the Sony FS700r!!! Which is great because the Shogun can be so cumbersome at times.
I have the 7" version with 3000 NITs and I love it for the price! Absolute Recommandation
The 7" is over $300 and too many better options at those price points.
@@vidademikey9790 Sorry, but no. I ordered 5 Monitors which are all recommended by different youtubers and they all hat major ir minor Flaws. The 7" is the best and 300$ is no money
Very well done. Thanks, Caleb.
Thank u bro. If you make a LUT for Canon R6, I will buy it for sure
Looks fantastic.
Does it have mirror/flip for teleprompter mode?
After watching this for the second time months later, I just came across another monitor at the same price point ($125 usd) by Portkeys, but it’s touch screen!!! Have you looked at the Portkeys PT5?
Reminds me of the 502 SmallHD monitors.
I was waiting for the 12 monitor review to come up. I liked it, but you talked a lot about the latency between the camera and those monitors.. But I came back to rewatch this one to notice you don't talk about it's latency. Whats the latency like on this one?
Can’t wait for the monitor video even thought I have already bought a monitor I already know it’s going to be a fun video
I would add the Portkeys PT5. Great gimbal monitor
that's pretty awesome! I just assumed it was simply displaying the HDMI data including overlays from the camera, amazing value with all those options!
You're going to get the bigger review just in time for me. I was just looking at a new monitor, hahah.
On your monitor review coming up, will you be reviewing FeelWorld products? They have several at different price points including touchscreen options.
Seconded. I have a Canon 5d4 and want something to help with manually focusing a tilt shift lens
Wow thanks for this. Great video as always. Ry temporarily back in Dubai :)
Could this be a good idea for a drone monitor?
How would DJI Fly run on it?
Really loving your channel budd. Randomly stumbled upon it recently!
Cheers.
Wow, that's feature packed for $125! Thanks for the video.
Such a well presented and produced video! Gj
Kinda late to the game here, but what batteries are recommended for this monitor? I love your videos Caleb!
Don't know if you have considered making Luts for a Sony ZV F1. Thanks
Fantastic review. This looks just like the ticket to use in my atem mini build
Also got this monitor and besides its awesome features, there is one major downside you forgott to mansion.. its not very bright.. Indoors is totally fine, but on a sunny day better bring another monitor with more nits.. ;)
Thanks for letting us know! I shoot outdoors all the time so i'll wait for the comparison review for brighter screens
Back in stock 👏🏼
