Great review sir. .... I have had the big budy heater with the fan for around 10 years or so. I use the 12' hose with quick disconnect with a 20 pound tank. I only keep the little green ones around for back up. You are 100% correct the green ones get expensive.

I have a brand new mr heater big buddy with no fan and I have an older. Model with a fan and the built in regulators are like brand new still stiff like they. Never been used the guy I bought it from said he only used it a handful of times if that and I can tell by the dust I cleaned it all .off it looks like. Brand new mr heater big buddy all new I even bought a brand new mr heater bigbuddy B18 .case for it and. The low pressure 12 foot hose with the regulator and the quick connect it's a flame king 12 foot hose do you still need the fuel filter with the regulator ? This older mr heater big buddy is way better than my brand new model I just got I'm keeping my new one in the box till I need it......

I' live in a Chevy van and i'm using my second heater. I use it every winter. Never had any issues with Mr. Buddy Heater. Been using it for about 7 years. I turn it on and fall asleep all the time. I know that's a bad habit but it happens. I trust this heater with my life, literally. Best heater I've ever invested in. After I ware this one out I'm buying another one

Thanks. I have watched many videos on the small version but this is my first for the larger one. For winter back up I did purchase the larger one with the blower but it is still in the box. I did buy one long hose but now after your video I will buy another hose. We have lots of the small 5 gallon propane tanks but I have many of the slightly larger tanks, I think 7 gallon, and one tall tank, not sure of the size. We like cooking on propane camping stoves and we have a setup for BBQing in the winter. Greenhouse use for tropical and cacti in the winter is necessary to keep them alive.
Now my small heater I use outside, I hate being trapped in the house. On it I use a hose with a smaller propane tank. I have always used the hose made for the Mr Heater but last year I started having trouble with the pilot light not working. I was told that there is probably a clog and that I should have used a filter. Husband is going to check on cleaning and installing a filter.
Your times for running the tanks tells me I need to buy more larger propane tanks as we also run a propane patio heater and a propane cook griddle. All of you doing these videos is very helpful for this old lady. I'm learning new to me everyday.

Thanks for all the information and I saved this site so I can refer others to it for education needs on new buyers!! We here in Montana are right now 12 degrees and I personally am using a friend's (Big buddy heater) and the damn thing is cooking me out at the low selection - i am in a RV so room and space much smaller. We also just now lost a furnace here in a home across the street and we have two of these units maintaining the whole house using 20 lbs bottles right now....it's holding the inside temps well!! Thanks for a solid video on the product...the makers of the heaters should pay ya for the solid review of them.

Good informative video. As always best way to roll is to vent as it allows for possibility of gas leakage not to build up. I use modified rocket stoves, a kerosene heater & several buddy heaters. Nothing is off if I am sleeping or not present to keep an eye on things. Always check your propane l kerosene supply and keep them clean. Before using equipment check to make that it’s clean and ready to roll. I also have a fire alarm as well as a CO monitor Keep those both lean and make sure thy work properly.

My husband bought a Mr buddy last week and we tried it out. I am amazed at how warm it made the rv. It actually warmed the entire 42ft 5 slide rv in less then 30 mins. 3 space heaters can't even do that in hrs. I'm definitely sold on it. Sure wish we had it back in 21 when we lost electricity. I would like to know if there is a concern about condensation when using propane to heat a bell tent. My primary concern is with mold. I am in between deciding using a Mr. buddy heater or heating my bell tent with a woodstove, which is more economical to me, but propane is a lot less mess to deal with. I don't know ,,, what do you think? I just have to do more research on this issue. The mold is what I'm worried about. It's canvas material, so! That's the issue. Thanks ! Great video, also.

We just used our Mr Heater Big Buddy for the first time, it heats well! We used the two one pound cylinders and in about three hours the house temp went from 64F to 70F, whole first floor, about 800 sq ft..on the low setting. We're happy. I have seen videos where these can increase condensation inside, if that is an issue.

I love my Mr Heater. Have had it 7 years now. Mine is the small, the large one wasn’t available then, at least not where I bought. Everything except the big tank was around $100.00.
I’m using it now for a kicker and helping the house unit. Gets real cold here in Minnesota,.., try -44°F

Just for precaution I use the little buddy in line filter when using the larger bottles of propane, keeps the oil out of your heater. I've had mine for years and love it, mine is yellow (not common).

Thank you for the comment just saying the company as far as I've been told from them they do not need a filter if you were using the actual line from Buddy heaters

Well I need advice....I have a new Big Buddy heater straight out of the box. Have a new Mr Heater hose and a new Mr Heater filter. Hooked everything up and the attached to a full 20lb tank....the pilot lights with a beautiful blue flame quite easily. Move the dial to low and the pilot almost immediately peters out like i just ran out of propane and the element does not lite. What am I missing?

Good video.... if you are a DIY 'er. You can heat your whole home for hours and hours off a car or deep cycle RV battery.
Let me clarify. If your home has a gas furnace. It runs off 110 volts. Same as a table lamp or toaster. The thing you must have is a 1000 watt inverter. Find the breaker box and find your FURNACE BREAKER . Yout furnace will have the 110 Volt wires running into your furnace. Disconnect these wires from your furnace and wire them to a pigtail plug. Then run the plug to the inverter. Plug the inverter to your DEEP CYCLE RV BATTERY and turn on the inverter. Set your thermostat at 65 degrees and you can heat your entire home off a battery. Just a thought. I've had to do it and it worked out well. If your not sure of the wiring. Maybe ask a friend to help. I always take a picture to refer to.

I'm looking on Amazon for a hose. I saw a post below that mentioned model # F271804. The only model hose I find on Amazon is Mr Heater "F271803" - 12' Hose With Regulator & Quick Disconnect. Is this ok to use too?

Thanks for the informative video. One correction though, the oil that clogs filters and can damage unfiltered LP appliances is actually an odorant added to LP tanks, to warn of leaks. Since propane is odorless, see this from Wikipedia: Ethanethiol is intentionally added to butane and propane (see: LPG) to impart an easily noticed smell to these normally odorless fuels that pose the threat of fire, explosion, and asphyxiation.

Very right sir. Many years of living with this type of system. These heaters SUCK to take apart to clean out the oil. It would be nice to see a design change that allows the oil to escape.

I have a little buddy hooked to a 500 gallon tank 3/8 inch copper line and a regulator I started using it in October 2017 and January 2021 it quit working the therma couple went out so I bought a new heater. And I have an Ecofan wood stove fan setting on top of the stove. It burns 160 gallons each winter.

I have the Big Buddy in case of a power outage. Well it went out for almost 3 days here in PA a few years ago a sub zero temps! These things work incredibly well. It actually kept my 1100sq.ft. home at a steady 70F in the main section of the house on Low setting only,,the 4000 BTU setting! Didn't even use one 20lb. tank in that outage that I refill locally to save more money. Good investments.
I've even considered looking into a ventless natural gas wall/floor heater with automatic thermostat as well. 30,000BTU But one with the ceramic tile style heaters like the Big buddy has as a backup for the house. I've seen the natural gas wall heaters with just the open flame before but noticed they left greasy brown stains on the persons wall so I would rather have one in the style of the MR. Heater Big Buddy. Then still have the Big Buddy propane if needed for the garage or other things.
