Wear long sleeved natural fabric clothing as synthetic fabrics can build static electricity. A spark can ignite propane vapor. As stated in the video, do not store the propane cylinders inverted. The pressure relief valve is designed to vent small amounts of vapor if the tank is overheated. If it is inverted or on its side, it will vent large amounts of liquid propane.

Thanks JR. I've been using the Flame King system for 5 years now, and it works flawlessly. The only thing I do differently is I keep a small digital scale right next to the set-up and weigh the refillable bottles to make sure I don't put much over 1 lb. in them, and I keep a clock next to the scale, because 10 minutes goes by pretty quick. I keep the bleeder valve pretty much full open, 1/4-1/2 turn, which allows me to fill up 4-5 bottles in the 10 minutes. Then I flip the 20 lb. bottle upright for about 15-30 minutes, and then do the other 4 or 5. Has saved me hundreds over the last 5 years

I picked one of these up in the spring and really like it. One thing I do is actually turn off main vale then purge the little bit of propane out with the handle then do the disconnect. I felt if something didn’t close right I would know it before actually taking it off and having a bigger issue. Also my mom made me a bag that it all goes into when torn down and then sewn small pockets
to hold the nuts and bolts in one pocket and another pocket sewn in for the Allen wrenches

I definitely prefer the Fuel Keg system, no silly allen keys to lose...and their cylinder feels sturdier and definitely more durable. What I think the Fuel Keg people didn't do that great is their stand for the 20 lb cylinder, possibly to keep costs down and remain competitive,. That cylinder stand you show is definitely a way better alternative. Thank you much for the video.

Great video. Use of protective wear is essential. Freeze burns from escaping propane are a dangerously fast form of frostbite that is painful & slow-healing. Also recommend avoiding wearing static-producing synthetic material clothing (polyester jacket or gloves for example) or having anything capable of igniting loose vapor. Propane is heavier than air and can pool into lower spaces, creating hazards. Always check for valve & fitting leaks before, during, & after connections with soapy liquid, never an open flame.

Get a propane tree (Coleman is one manufacturer) and a pair of propane hoses. Attach tree to 20lb tank, attach propane lantern to top connection, and use hoses to run to other propane appliances like a stove or heater. If you use propane devices in an enclosed space, purchase a propane gas alarm and CO2 detector like they have for RVs. They make handheld/portable ones too.

Thank you JR. Always informative! My Dad had been a plumber many many years ago and I still have some of his refillable 1# propane bottles that were much heavier duty than the Coleman type we buy at Walmart. It's possible that plumbers supply houses may still sell that type of propane bottles, but I'm not sure.

Those lanterns work pretty well on a big bottle if you use a distribution tree. It's just a pipe about 24 to 30 inches long with 2 ports on the stem and 1 on the top where the lantern fits nicely.

Just a thought, would it not be easier to put the fill valve on the 20 lb tank and THEN turn it over, so you don't have to reach in to screw it on? Love the videos, btw and am going to get that Mr Heater set up, as soon as I can. You are right, the ring and bleeder valve seem so much easier. Keep makng the videos and I will keep watching. Hi Bill! The reason I did it that way was to avoid the possibility of damaging the adapter while positioning the tank. It wouldn’t take too much to bend it on accident. It would have been less awkward if I didn’t have to worry about the camera angle at the same time. Lol. Thanks for watching!

There are a hard set of fire safety rules that, like firearm rules, only change if they are modified to even more conservative measures to prevent accidents. Ignoring serious guidelines almost always turns out badly. Any guy who works in the trades around trucks, equipment, tools and heavy materials will tell you it’s safety first. That being said mine are the black truck bungees. I was on a film set in 2001 when a Greensman list his eye. I will spare the details but he was using the bungees for an incorrect application and on his personal vehicle. Either way I won’t touch the things unless I’m wearing serious eye-pro

You might note that while filling the propane bottle, it is gas propane leaking out as the bottle fills with liquid propane. You can fill the bottle without this loss, but the fill rate is very slow once the bottle and tank pressures equalize. Very slow. For most people, not worth their time.
