Here is my list of well-known and/or well-reviewed BBQ spots in KC that you didn't hit up:
    Arthur Bryant's
    LC's
    Jones
    Scott's Kitchen
    B.B.'s Lawnside
    Woodyard
    Zarda
Buck Tui (it's Thai BBQ fusion!)
Of course there are so many more in KC, and there aren't really any videos reviewing only lesser-known but still outstanding BBQ spots!

Gates is known for its service and it’s beef on bun. The counter can be confusing as a first time. Since it is a historically known place, many of the customers know what they’re getting or have a native to help them. However when you go back, just let them know it’s your first time and they will love to help. They really are known for friendly service. Even their sign says “how May I help you?”

Jack stack, also has a barbecue lamb rib, that is in all probability, Kansas City's best kept secret.
Between the lamb ribs and the beef ribs, Jack Stack has a great product. It would also be a Royal travesty, if a person would eat at Jack's Stacks and not have their dainty carrot cake liberally drizzled with walnut chunks.

It isn’t on the menu anymore, but I know he makes it for the employees on occasion. I also love that they chop up their burnt ends and put it in the baked beans. Kansas City Joe’s is amazing. The z man is awesome. Gates is lack luster, and wouldn’t go back. Q 39 isn’t in my top go to places, but after your review I may need to give them another try.

The gates experience is getting yelled at while you order. It's part of the "charm".

cannot be understated how authentic the experience was. I have never left gates thinking it was worth poor service and high price.

There are so many to try yet. Scott's Kitchen by the airport, Tin Kitchen in Weston, Jones BBQ, Johnny's BBQ in Olathe. Glad you visited some not so famous places because there are some good finds out there.

I want some. Both me and the cat watched, and she didn't watch though I did. She is just bolting for the fridge for the standard ham. That looks really great!

In Echuca Australia where I live the number of restaurants are still limited even the though the town has grown a lot since the 1970s,1980s. Although I am not capable of doing food challenges. Echuca needs more restaurants like the restaurants that Joel goes to.

I love watching when you beat the challenges but when I’m finished watching (even if I’ve not long finished eating myself ) I feel hungry again
Have you ever found something you don’t like or something that you have been looking forward to but were disappointed when you finally get it?
I would love to see a challenge with haggis neep and tatties (maybe 7lbs of eachwith a litre of whiskey sauce)
