Terry Blacks is not even mentioned in the top 20 by Texans when yearly reviews come out. They are good for tourists to try authentic Texas BBQ for first time, but they are not in the upper tier of Texas BBQ places. LaBBQ also in Austin, is superior to TB. Lockharts is also better.
Evie Mae's, Franklin's, cattleack, goldees, and interstellar. My co worker and I both tried to hit all the top and he said panther city was fire too. Cattleack might be my #1. They do wagyu pastrami brisket and beef ribs, which makes it stand out.

Kreuitz bbq, almost across the street in Lockhart from Terry blacks and the brother of the lady that owns smittys.. it's also very good. Dint ask for bbq sauce in there though.
You can’t go wrong in Lockhart. We are partial to Smitty’s but Black’s and Kreuze’s are outstanding too. I’m from Georgia and I have had BBQ from all over but Texas BBQ has it going on.
Just stopped at Smittys today, not impressed with the brisket, was dry, maybe I hit them too late in the day. Their pork chop was amazing though. Terry Blacks is still my go to for brisket. Haven’t tried Barbs BQ there, they are always closed when I come through town.
There are quite a few places that are elite level, Franklin's, Goldee's, Snow's, Black's Original, Terry Black's, etc..but you will find one you slightly favor over the others in one way or another. YOU WILL NOT HAVE A BAD MEAL AT ANY OF THEM...there will be differences...but still top shelf all of them!
Well, you shouldn't go there and order fish or a burger. You can have a bad meal then (and you'd deserve it for ordering non BBQ things at a BBQ shack).

I love Texas style BBQ as much as the next person, but other styles are just as good, and I'd say Korean BBQ is pretty dang close to being as good as anything here in the US (as long as they use charcoal at said BBQ lol). All that being said, Texas brisket and ribs, are top tier.

Texas is world famous for their BBQ. Living here in the Dallas Fort Worth area all the rural country places in TX have now opened a 2nd restaurant here in the city. You have Terry Blacks, Hutchins, Coopers, Hard 8, Hurtado’s some of the best bbq restaurants in the world here. DFW is a great place to tour all the locations within a few miles.
Goldie's BBQ (near Ft Worth, TX) is also highly acclaimed, as well as Franklin's (Austin area). This is just getting started. There are many other highly rated BBQ places across the whole of TX.

There is a place that Jolly went to in Texas. I think it’s called Goldee’s or something. “Rated BEST in Texas” Also, BBQ is regional. Texas is Brisket, Kansas City is dry rub ribs and The Carolinas has the pulled pork sandwiches with coleslaw.

I've been an Uber driver for 5 years in Austin. I get split reviews from locals and tourists alike, some say Terry Black's, some say Franklin's is the best. A small percentage will name someone else like Salt Lick, Micklethwait, La Barbecue, Cooper's, the list is extensive. The pursuit of a "best" sounds fun but of course you're chasing a rainbow.

Texas is the only place for BBQ. However those sides don’t go with bbq that we eat in South Texas. We eat the meats with pinto beans Mexican rice potato salad onion slices with pickles and jalepenos and slices of bread. Sweet tea Perfect meal every time.
I really like this because I think that like a lot of their videos show them telling us what they're about to do before they go into the restaurant and we don't get to actually see them do it (at least on TikTok) so this is great!
Also there is a trailer in San Antonio that serves those beef ribs inside a burrito with mac and cheese inside you guys would definitely love it peace and taco grease my friends

(Real Texans know) Their blackberry cobbler is second to none, and all the meat fantastic as well. As a 3rd generation Texan, I can promise this place wont disappoint!
My sister lived in Texas for about 15 years and I never heard of Terry Blacks until she moved to Arizona. Had I known about it I would have asked her to give it a taste test.
The shredded bbq is pull pork. Also cream corn is the best & banana pudding is found at almost all bbq restaurants in Texas & our Mac n cheese we put bread crumbs and some bbq spice & they make BBQ Potatoes and those are top tier & in Texas we have so many BBQ restaurants each town has at least 3-4
If you guys are down for some more food trucks, go to a place called Tejas Birria. Mexican cuisine done amazingly well. They specialize in everything birria. I would recommend the Birria tacos and also their Birria Quesadilla. You wont be disappointed. They have 3 locations. 1 in austin, buda, and San antonio. I can 100% guarantee you havent had mexican food that good. If im wrong, send me the bill and i'll pay for it Love you guys and keep up the amazing videos
Don't EVER tear it off the bone if it is slow smoked - It WILL fall off as you eat eat. There are other BBQ's in Texas as they are hidden - Those can be better than the place you went and TB know's that . I live in the hill country in Texas and trust me, try other places than all the TH-camrs hitting TB - They are ok.

I love Franklin's, but only for pickup. The line is just too crazy to eat in.

My sister lived in Texas for about 15 years and I never heard of Terry Blacks until she moved to Arizona. Had I known about it I would have asked her to give it a taste test.

The shredded bbq is pull pork. Also cream corn is the best & banana pudding is found at almost all bbq restaurants in Texas & our Mac n cheese we put bread crumbs and some bbq spice & they make BBQ Potatoes and those are top tier & in Texas we have so many BBQ restaurants each town has at least 3-4

If you guys are down for some more food trucks, go to a place called Tejas Birria. Mexican cuisine done amazingly well. They specialize in everything birria. I would recommend the Birria tacos and also their Birria Quesadilla. You wont be disappointed. They have 3 locations. 1 in austin, buda, and San antonio. I can 100% guarantee you havent had mexican food that good. If im wrong, send me the bill and i'll pay for it

So many exceptional places in Texas. Terry Black’s is great. I make my own these days, but it is nice having ten great places within an hours drive.
Don't EVER tear it off the bone if it is slow smoked - It WILL fall off as you eat eat. There are other BBQ's in Texas as they are hidden - Those can be better than the place you went and TB know's that . I live in the hill country in Texas and trust me, try other places than all the TH-camrs hitting TB - They are ok.
I recall a few videos back when y’all halved a burger because you were watching your diet 😂 Austin is no place to worry about calories lol
