Oof Mcgee I have been to KC twice for work.. stayed 7 to 10 days each time and I absolutely love that city. Just a cool vibe, nice people, cool stuff to do and see.. went to some Royals games, went to the Truman Library. WWI memorial.. and the food is just perfect.. I told my wife I would move there in a second.

Me as well Oof Mcgee! Grew up in KC Mo. and left almost 40 years ago. It looks great! We use to slip through a hole in the fence at school and sneak down the hill to Gates near Paseo HS and get the 99cents beef on bun with fries split 4 ways!! Fun times!!

Quick update. KC has built a new airport. It opened in early 2023 and is absolutely fabulous. Lot's of food options after security, shops, etc. as well. I'm not sure when it opened, but there is a new concert hall that is next to the convention center, and is a great place to see the symphony, ballet, etc. The City Market area has been built up and is full of neat shops and farmers market stalls on the weekends. The women's professional soccer team (the Current) will play at a new stadium that is nearing completion near the City Market. As many of those posting over the past 3 years have indicated, there are lots of other things to see and do.
Wolter showed "Stroud's" several times; there are two Stroud's restaurants, one in Kansas and the other in Missouri. Hands down, the best fried chicken (and chicken fried steak) that I have ever eaten. There are a number of local restaurants that showcase what we have to offer, from incredible hamburgers to awesome steak places as well.

I'm a KCMO native who currently lives in Dallas, TX. This is a great video of my hometown. I'm going to share this video with people who ask me about things to do when they visit KC. Living & visiting other cities really makes you appreciate just how clean the city is & how friendly the residents are. One thing I never noticed until I lived somewhere else is that 9 times out of 10 parking is free in a lot of the touristy areas. Last time I was home I told my parents......this is weird, there's no parking meters lining the streets! LOL I was looking for the pay box in parking lots. Rarely do you get free parking in Dallas. The only thing I don't miss about KC is the winter! I don't even own a shovel down here in Dallas that's the one thing I love about living here lol.

I was born and raised in KC and lived 40 of my 55 years there. Watching this made me homesick. I now reside in east Tennessee and love it here, but I sure miss me some real BBQ and fellow Chiefs fans. The local Titans fans, although good sports and genuinely good people, are sick of me yelling "Go Chiefs" on a frequent basis. I have encouraged many Tennessians to visit KC with several doing so. They have all returned with great stories. They have all said that they would visit again and the common theme is that they had no idea how great of a city it was and have always thought it was a cow town in Kansas sitting on the banks of a muddy river. They had the river part right, but were definitely surprised how metropolitan it was. Please visit my home and eat some Joe's.

Hey I'm a lifelong KC resident, and 3 year Uber driver, and video was spot on, but the really old historic Stroud's location is actually located on the Missouri side, but yeah there's one on Kansas side too. But doesn't have nearly the atmosphere the MO location does. Another BBQ honorable mention is Jack's Stack. Yeah, never talk crap on our sports teams either. Sent the Royals to the World Series twice in the last 6 years, and now our Chiefs (5 times in a row AFC west champs) are headed to the Super Bowl! There records speak for themselves. We are proud of them! And yes we love everyone, and very friendly, come see us!

Don't forget a couple lesser known activities. Swope Park is huge, has a zoo and has Starlight Theater, a delightful open air theatre showing Broadway shows in the summer. City Hall is 30 stories of art deco architecture with an observation deck around one of the upper floors. If you are driving during daylight hours,* get around by the Parkways and Boulevards, even If it is farther. In KCMO, those designations actually mean something - the awesome Parks department actually landscapes and maintains them, unlike streets or avenues, which are under the Transportation department. But Southwest Boulevard is an exception - it is not under the Parks department. It is not as pretty as other boulevards, but it has some authentic Mexican restaurants, which could be a nice break from barbeque.
*In hours of darkness, just get where ever you are going as fast and efficiently as possible.

Kansas City born and raised. I take pride in this city and everything that it is. I spent a lot of time during my teenage years with my best friend just picking random districts and walking around all day talking. We would always switch it up. 1 day we would be in Westport, park the truck in the Uptown Theater parking lot and walk the streets for hours. The next day we would be in the West bottoms, exploring all the old shops that you don’t really hear about unless you find them yourself. The list goes on and on with places like The Plaza, Power & Light, Crossroads, etc! I have a lot of great memories in this city. One thing left out of this video is the music scene! Find a show to go to! There are a lot of great local bands here. I grew up in this music scene, playing gigs, attending gigs, promoting gigs, all of it. The local scene is a VERY wholesome community of musicians and fans. I highly recommend checking out a show! If you are looking for some new jams, check out my band on all music streaming platforms ❤️ also, GO CHIEFS!!!!! ❤️ 💛

Kansas Citian here! Thanks for the lovely report of our city. I just want mention if any KC visitors want to escape the city for a day, there are quite a few historic/quaint/charming cities north of Kansas City that are great for day trips like St. Joseph, Weston, Parkville in MO and Leavenworth and Atchison in Kansas. There are many smaller but great museums in these towns. There are also quite a few wineries and distilleries up there and along the way.
And although Union Station and the Nelson are free, both take donations if any visitor is so inclined (I personally recommend donating to the very hard-working volunteers that operate the model train exhibition at Union Station).
I hope you enjoy our city, current and future visitors!

Lived in KC my whole life, and I have to say, you nailed this video! Thank you so much for pointing out so many great reasons to visit. I think a lot of people don't realize that it is a true metropolitan area. One other thing I would mention is that there is a TON of free parking almost every part of town. Even quite a bit near downtown. So if people do drive themselves, or rent a car, you don't need a ton of change. Also, a great place to drink beer, with numerous breweries. Good job, man!

KC resident here, and you did really good on your review!! One more for you: don’t skip on seeing the downtown branch of the Kansas City Public Library either! It’s famous for the book scrim that covers the parking garage, but the library itself is in a historic bank building, and it has a historic vault area, a magical children’s area, a beautiful lobby on the first floor, and a terrace on the fifth floor that faces south and west and is usually open to the public. It’s a gorgeous place and well worth the visit.
