    As the youngest of three siblings, I was always the one that had to sit on the floor when we had visitors, or when we visited others. I guess over time it just felt normal to me. I find it very awkward and difficult to sit 'normally' in chairs. I sit in chairs with my legs crossed or some other weird position. I have a bed and a desk. Neither of which I use. I sleep on the floor, i draw and paint, and read and write on the floor. I use my computer on the floor. And guess what, I'm 42 years old and I get mistaken for someone half my age. I'm the most agile, flexible person I know.

    my grandad used to sit on the floor...right up until he left us in his late 80's...he was the most flexible old person i've met...a quiet man but always there to help and try and mend things...he was brilliant with us all as kids....like he was a big child himself really...i'm sure this was linked to his sitting on the floor...he was on our level...as we grew up he was more awkward with us...i think he thought we were all crazy, i think he thought this about all adults and he was right....i wish i'd spoken to him more about his life and learnt more about how he really thought, i've recently moved my desk to the floor...it's much better....making the change with my bed next just need to declutter the bedroom first

My legs and whole body are so much stronger since I started doing that. I was already in good shape, but getting up off the floor so many times a day took my strength and health to the next level. my day job is as an art and design teacher for an international school. i built a standing desk in my studio space at school and had the traditional desk removed. I should give some thought to a floor centric working space. it could be a fun project to do with my senior design students.

    One thing I've wondered since you scored the floor-to-standing desk is which one you find yourself using more? Or if there is one you prefer more. I'm way too poor to afford the techno-desk, and am still undecided between floor or standing desk >_

    • @natashatheresa
      @natashatheresa  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I feel like maybe you can just jury-rig a standing desk…. I used to just put an upside down ikea storage bin on my regular desk so I could stand. Try something out like that and see how it feels. For floor desk try a coffee table or a small breakfast table thingy and you can then still kinda alternate it just will take a bit more elbow grease hehe!

    I just found your video, it's very intersting! I recently bought a new office chair 😂 because my previous one was 15 years old so it was about time... I'm also want to buy a new desk with adjustable height. It's a struggle to find a good one. I am a short person and all the desks are too TALL for me!! Even the adjustable ones don't go lower than the regular ones. The ones that go lower are usually more expensive. BUT what I wanted to say that I NEVER saw a desk like this that goes all the way to the floor! My mind was blown! Too bad it's in only the US. I'll keep searching, maybe I can find alternatives where I live as well. Sitting on the floor sounds intersting. I usually sit in the "indian sitting" position, even in my office chair. I think it's one point better than sitting regularly. You have a charming personality, I'll keep my eyes open for more of your videos!

    Hey Natasha,
    Although I currently don't have all the options available to me (no personal testing experience), I fully agree with your approach to have the best of all worlds (which might even include a good normal office chair, but idk). I "only" have a sit stand desk and an office chair. However I would love to try a floor desk (kinda tried this with sitting on the floor in front of the couch for a while :D) AND a treadmill. This is why I'm commenting (i usually never do this)..
    Have you heard of walkolution? They make walking desk treadmills that don't need power and a very quiet (and very expensive). Although depending on power consumption of powered treadmills the might even out over a longer usage time.
    You teased the topic of your next video to be about treadmills, so it would be nice to hear your thoughts on the walkolution. Personally, I love the concept of it, but havent tried it yet.
    Cheers!

    • @natashatheresa
      @natashatheresa  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for sharing walkolution with me but oh my word when you said expensive I didn’t realize it was that expensive.. that’s like 7x the Uppeal desk I have hahahahahahahahahahahah deng!
      I am honored that you commented and shared your thoughts with me! I am very excited to share the treadmill with you guys…. It’s nice and compact and can fold up when not in use but so far whenever I want to sit on the floor I just put a cushion and sit on top of it lol!!

    • @kajsdnkasjnd
      @kajsdnkasjnd 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@natashatheresa Whatever works! If you sit comfortably on it, why do the work of putting it away every time you switch position? :)
      Have you seen the 1 year review of an electric walking pad from the youtuber electroBOOM? He's really struggeling with the maintenance :D
      Yes, the walkolution is expensive, no question. Buut I do like the fact that it's purely mechanical without external power source. The quite operation only really matters when you have others that could be bothered by the noise, since I personally always wear NC headphones, even at home.
      Then again, as you mentioned already, the size of the walkolution is not even close to yours that folds.

    you don't need a back support when sitting on the floor. People have been sitting that way for thousands of years no problem.
