    That "picking up the remote in your jeans pocket"... Yeah, one great shot right there. 👍

    Another good review with very good points that I completely agree with. I wish manufacturers would get in contact with users like you and me and we'd have stopped them doing that silly standby option because that will definitely bugger up a few recordings for folks. Also the lanyard hole could have been nearer the front to allow for mounting in the selfie stick still. A user choice of a beep or vibrate would be nice for a confirmation of recording starting too.

    Indeed - it's one of those items where you have to focus on whether you really need it, and can therefore justify the cost. I guess in my case though, I bought it for "completeness" - a notion that my wife had difficulty in accepting when she reviewed my expenditure...
    Your mention of it sleeping prematurely made me realise that I simply hadn't grasped that it did that - now I understand some oddities I'd experienced in practical use, thanks!
    Some users have complained that it's not easy to mount on things like bike handlebars or other places where you might need to have it. I recommend sticky putty such as "blue tack", but do ensure that it's holding on tightly enough before you go trail riding - it wouldn't be easy to find if it fell! Another place you could stick it might be to your car's steering wheel when capturing in-car shots.
    Anyway, thanks for another of your meticulous reviews!

      @Roos-Reviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I was wondering about how to mount it to my bike handle bar. I thought about making a little 3D printed magnetic housing, but the magnets on the remote seem to be in an awkward location on the corners and I don't have small enough magnets.

    I've just been testing the sleep problem - the button on the side can help a little with this. It does nothing when the camera is running or stopped, but once the remote goes to sleep, pressing the side button wakes it immediately with no risk of accidentally starting recording. Pressing the joystick does the same, except there's a slight risk of accidentally changing the camera mode. So, when you think it's amost time to shoot, wake it with the side button, and then it's ready to go again. Not ideal of course.

    • @Roos-Reviews
      @Roos-Reviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good idea. I found another variation and that's instead of pressing in the joystick, flick it up/down/left/right instead. That wakes it without changing any mode. But I like your Bluetooth button more as there's no risk of changing anything.

    Can you connect the remote to a phone to be used with a phone camera via Bluetooth as well or does it only work with Action cams?

    I have a thought in my mind that, DJI can make it to connect Dji Pocket 2's Wireless Mic to Dji Action 2 cuz it has wifi built in and as we see there is Wireless Remote Control already.

    Was thinking of buying this camera for my motorcycle travels videos but I'm on the fence because of the overheating issues. Overheating is still a thing with the Action 2?
    Need at least 2.7K@60 fps with stabilisation. For helmet mount but also for filming while walking visiting stuff.
    The camera I have now doesn't care about overheating but can only do 1080p@60fps with somewhat good stabilisation. Managed to film continously for 5.5h in 37+ deg. C, connected to an external powerbank.
    Just want to up my video resolution quality. Thanks!

    • @Roos-Reviews
      @Roos-Reviews  ปีที่แล้ว

      DJI released a firmware update that goes along with a magnetic case which solves the overheating issue, but it doesn't work on cameras bought in Europe. I made quite a few videos testing the run times at various settings with and without the fix.

    Can this remote totally switch on or shut off the action 2? Previously I've seen gopro The Remote and also insta360 GPS remote which can shut down or switch on the action cam using the remote. Appreciate your explanation as the action 2 price already drop since the launch of action 3.

    • @Roos-Reviews

      I don't think it can't do that.

  • @unlock-er

    Thanks for the review, I'm considering buying it for OA3. One thing though, if the remote sleeps while the camera is still recording, will it know that the camera is still recording when you wake it back up? So that it does it on the remote too, to ensure that by pressing the button won't stop the recording. Ta

    • @Roos-Reviews
      @Roos-Reviews  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes after you press it to wake it up it will still be connected and if you press the record button it will stop the recording.

      @@Roos-Reviews oh and presumably the camera needs to be on first? Or can it turn the camera on and start the recording by pressing the record button?

    • @Roos-Reviews
      @Roos-Reviews  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The camera needs to be on. You can leave it on and have the display off if you want to save battery and keep it on standby for a lot longer.

    Are you about to use the remote to actually turn on and off the cameras. my old gopro remote would allow me to turn on and off the cameras and then start recording. It appears that this is not the case with the DJI remote. That makes the remote useless for my application. Or am I missing something?

    • @Roos-Reviews
      @Roos-Reviews  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The camera has to be on to be able to connect to the remote.
      Recently I have had a lot of trouble with my remote being unable to stay connected for more than 2-3 minutes. And so I don't really recommend it anymore.

    • @TheBudgetSportsman
      @TheBudgetSportsman ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Roos-Reviews thanks for the reply. It’s too bad because the old GoPro remotes could stay connected with the camera off and would work to power back on.

    • @Roos-Reviews
      @Roos-Reviews  ปีที่แล้ว

      The GoPro still had to technically be on to be able to receive signals from the remote. It's just in a low power standby mode. With the action 2 you can set the display to be off and the battery will last for hours as it waits for your remote signal. Would that be a solution for your needs?

    Is the extension rod waterproof?

    • @Roos-Reviews
      @Roos-Reviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The remote isn't waterproof but if you remove it I don't think fresh water should cause much trouble for the rod. But salt water and sand would possibly be a problem.

  • @jnrmack
    @jnrmack 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Voice control don't like my Scottish accent , so zero points.the Control from the Extension Rod has weak blue tooth, i had this happen more then once waiting for it to connect and it wont. sat in my car camera sitting valance, blue tooth would not connect, then i remember that other blue tooth can stop you connecting, so switched of my mobile blue tooth and the control it instantly found and connected camera. the controller signal needs to be stronger. also when the controller goes to sleep, any button should waken it up, but some times disconnects the blue tooth.
