Do you recommend it? I really like the Design, size, modularity and colors, but I watched a lot of people complaining about overheating, so I am now trying to decide between action 2 and hero 10 or should I wait for sometime?
@@mohammedhussein7849 For vlogging, ABSOLUTELY YES. I'm all for discreet, go-to vlogging setups, not carrying around big DSLRs with big lenses. But for sports, no. It's really fragile. It depends on what you really need.
@@KhunJerome thanks a lot, that's what I thought too, but don't you think that with a case and may be a lens protector, it can handle it? I really don't see a big difference between it and gopro, bothhave glass and all glass breaks. The only difference is the replaceable lens, so either protect it or get an extended warranty.
@@mohammedhussein7849 Here in the Philippines, DJI refresh is not available yet. I already bought a metal housing case, screen protector, and a UV filter that acts as another glass layer. I'm gonna use it for vlogging, but for extreme activities (which are actually not my thing), I won't risk it. I personally don't like GoPro ever since bec DJI's footages are more cinematic for my taste.
One of the main concerns of the Action 2 owners what the fear of losing the battery/screen pack and not being able to charge the camera anymore. Good thing there are so many alternatives now to charger the camera
Looking towards this as a new on the ground rig out. Walk about, first person view of my photography taking with dslr. Less invasive than a busy drone overhead but always have the quieter Mini 2 as a backup option from a height.
I have the Smallrig and Tilta cages. Must have to say, the Smallrig cage is the best build one out there. Smallrig also put a lot more thought into their magnet mounts allowing for both GoPro style and 1/4" screws at the same time. The one thing, that really annoys me, is that neither Smallrig, Tilta, Telesin or Ulanzi expose the storage / webcam profile on the USB-C port. It seems they've all only routed the charging pins through. Quite the bummer.
I just found out Oct 24th, 2023 that the Ulanzi cage does not fit the DJI Action 2 camera. Had to return it. I checked the width dimensions of the inside of the Ulanzi cage, and outside dimension of the DJI Action 2 case width. The outside width of the DJI camera is 43.5mm, and the inside width dimension of the Ulanzi cage is 40mm, so the DJI camera can’t possibly fit inside the cage - it’s too wide. Maybe DJI increased the width of the Action 2 camera case since Ulanzi manufactured the protective cage for it?
These cameras have come a long way, from the bricks they used to be. Awesome video and camera. I'm still thinking about getting one of these? Thanks for sharing. 👍👍👍

Did you try the smallrig and telesin base to see if they work as a mic output? For sure I don't think the ulanzi would work with the lack of pins. They need to build mic output and sd card into a tiny base, maybe even a small battery.
Hi, nice quick review. Not boring :--). I just got the Action 2 and was wondering if there's any cage that has external microphone mounts on top? All I have found are side mounts and it can be a little annoying! Thanks in advance.
I love the Action 2 because it can do more than Insta360-GO2. However, when mounted on a mountain bicycle frame the camera stops recording and restarts immediately after hitting potholes and bumps. This behaviour has nothing to do with overheating as it happened in cloudy weather within 1-2 minutes of recording and is reproducible. I think the battery module is losing contact with the battery due to excessive vibrations. DJI support hasn't been able to help yet, actually they wasted my time.
I bought a slew of the Ulanzi accessories - having seen someone else's video! - but personally, I'm glad DJI has left this to the 3rd party companies because there is competition between them and I am sure that's keeping prices down. "Keeping Prices Down" and "DJI" are words that simply don't go together... :)

VERY COOL!!! Useful mounts, robust and increases versatility. Many mounting and charge-ability features. However, I wouldn't want to get it wet and it passes power only/ not data. My Action 2 had terrible audio quality when inside the waterproof case, so I returned it to amazon and went with gopro 10 for surfing videos.

I want a cage that will hold both sections of the camera in a cube like a GoPro Session. Why doesn't anyone make such a thing? The camera would work so much better that way for helmet mounting.

I notice that when I zoom in between the detachment from the optical to the digital I find a lot of noise on the video in the optical recording part before the detachment, the digital instead is excellent and presents a quality image without noise, then as I zoom in true the 28x I lose in quality and there is, thanks for the good videos that are always very comprehensive, continue that you are of a lot of help Danilo Spadini
