      The modding community shows quite well how extremely difficult it is to make a good track. 99% of custom tracks are absolute grabage, boring to play at best. There are a few masterpieces, but those are the very rare exeptions.
      The flood of catastrophic mario maker levels is already immense and the good levels are scarce. And there it is exponentially easier to create good levels.
      Those track makers are a cool idea, but not feasible in practice in a way that we would expect. All games that featured them never offered good custom made tracks. The only thing those tracks were good for, are quick time trial sessions against other ghost players, but not for a real race session like we woulc expect on Mario Kart.
      All the good mario kart custom tracks were made using highly complicated developer tools and software, with features that a stage builder designed for 3 year olds could never offer or even compare to.
      Not that making racing tracks by consumers is impossible, but making good ones definitely is with the limitations the software would need to have to make a good, beginner friendly user experience.
      I see it just like you.

      @ I completely agree. With seeing how much trash was made in Mario maker, which is much easier than a Maria kart maker would be, there’d be about 1,000 bad tracks for one single good track. It’s just not a good idea

      Exactly, it's too intricate to be an imitator of smm. We all saw how complicated the sm64 maker fan project was. It's likely going to be a simple track creator like with existing ones rather than what was initially in mind.

    For the track building elements, I say they should take a piece out of LBP Karting’s book and allow the player to unroll the road and be able to chance the roads shape and size as you go, being able to widen the track in certain spots, make them more narrow, Curl them inward to make a half pipe, Divide the paths into a split path, Add and Remove Guard Rails to preferred sides of the track, Add Bumps in the certain of the track to trick off of and in the 8 Deluxe Style, be able to use the triggers to warp the track to different angles or create side walls to use the antigravity on.
    Then when you have a lay out, you can decorate the track with background terrain, Setpieces, and obstacles, you could also be able to place different types of textures on the ground that have different properties, like Dirt, Grass, Sand and Pools of Water, Lava, Poison or Quicksand.

    I don’t feel like this would ever realistically happen because of fear it would cannibalize the sales of Nintendo’s futures Mario karts. Similar to what Mario maker did to the 2D Mario games. Nintendo would logically want to keep Mario kart around because it’s always a game guaranteed to make Nintendo lots of sales

    Really like some ideas here so i thought i'd share some of my own:
    Track Templates: Several original mariokart tracks can be used to showcase how different aspects work, for example mushroom gorge could be one so people learn about how to use mushrooms in tracks ect
    More themes: I feel like some themes were missed out, especially city tracks like Tour tracks or Moonview highway or mushroom city, as well as beach tracks that arent based on underwater
    Item modes: I feel like for certain things there should be an item that you can place that switches you, like the SMB2 mushroom or SML flower. Some of these could include: double dash (automatically picks the character's partner), Mariokart Wii Wheeling on bikes, Old drifting from games like MKDD and MKDS, etc. I feel this would be less prominent in the retro themes but good in the 3D theme

    It wont work since they did planned to have a channel based on the idea in the Wii when Mario Kart Wii was revealed or something like that but it was scrapped due to either time constraints OR to much memory because of the 3D models and the Item customization is the closest maker we ever going to get in a Mario Kart title.

    I really thought about this concept and think it is smart to start much more limited. Just have the different selectable themes be the themes you have in SNES Mario Kart and omit any SNES track of being a retro track. Also only to have it in the style of the current game (so MK8/9). Other than that you could be very free with everything like placing water, lava, anti-gravity, paragliding, cannons, enemies, pipes, oil slips etc etc

    While this all sounds great, I think one big thing about Mario Kart is how varied and unique set pieces, themes and music are. Maybe to go along with the track creator, you could have a modeling tool to create certain pieces and customize your track to what you envision. You could really detail your set pieces and change colours, add textures, etc. Along with this, it might be cool to be able to combine themes, like a city and beach for Coconut Mall or a mountain and plains for Shroom Ridge. Finally it would be awesome to be able to create your own music, or use existing music, with a simple music editor, GarageBand style. These are the things that really make the good tracks, and it would be a great change from just generic grass, desert, and snow themes

    I was talking about this with my brother a few days ago! These are my ideas:
    STYLES: Super Mario Kart, Mario Kart: Double Dash, Mario Kart Wii and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
    THEMES: The same you said on the video.
    ITEMS: depends of the game, each style would have its own items.
    ENEMIES: Goombas, chain chomps, piranha plants, monty moles, cars on the city theme, oil stains, that worm from the desert which name I forgot, and obviously, Shy Guys.
    INTERACTIVE AND DECORATIVE STUFF: Trees, light poles, walls, holes, ramps, outdoors, pipes, cones, rocks, mushrooms (and some derivatives) and arrows.
    TYPES OF TRACK: Ground, asphalt (the only type that would accept cars), bridge, wood, rainbow, indoor floors, and rainbow.
    ALSO:
    Possibility of making battle tracks;
    The online mode you said on the video;
    Number of laps/sectored track is proportional to the track's length.
    THESE ARE MY 2 CENTS FOR A POTENTIAL MARIO KART MAKER!!

  • @Sammykyt
    @Sammykyt ปีที่แล้ว

    These are all interesting ideas and I liked the video as well as subscribed to your channel. Here are my thoughts for each category:
    Styles: I would like to see a Mario Kart DS style included and would prefer it over Mario Kart Super Circuit if I had to choose. I would also like to see Mario Kart Double Dash, but I understand it might be a bit more difficult and they likely won't be able to include styles from every game.
    Themes: I agree but I would also like to see a little bit more such as a city/highway theme and a mountain theme. Alternatively, maybe mountains, cars, skyscrapers, etc. are all things that can be added to any theme in track design.
    Track Design: I agree. I would like to see a lot of custom options such as how long or short the course can be, its shape and the amount of laps such as 1 big lap, 3 laps, 5 or 7.
    Enemies: I agree. There are so many options here.
    Objects: I agree. Of course coins and item boxes can be added onto the track as well.
    Items: Classics such as red shells, green shells, bananas and mushrooms should definitely be included as well as more powerful items such as the invincibility star, lightning bolt, golden mushroom and bullet bill. While more controversial, the blue shell should also be an option. I would also like to be able to customize what items can be received in which places players are in. For example, I would like to be able to choose whether players can receive a lightning bolt from 8th-12th place, 7th-12th place, 6th-12th place, etc. A bit off topic but relating to this, I would also like to be able to race other racers, CPUs or race and personally control multiple characters at once in the tracks I create, and be able to choose how many racers there are in a race such as 8 or 12.
    Characters: I would like to be able to customize the roster of how many characters and which ones I would like to include in my courses from a variety of options. Of course, Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, Yoshi, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Wario and Koopa Troopa are a given for just about every Mario Kart game. Other characters that I feel should definitely be included are Waluigi, Bowser Jr., Koopa Troopa, Shy Guy, Daisy, Birdo, Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, Toadette and Dry Bones. I would also like to be able to customize between different colors of Yoshis, Shy Guys, etc. More characters I would like to see included as options are Rosalina, Diddy Kong, Wiggler, Dry Bowser, Nokis, Piantas, King Boo, Funky Kong, Dixie Kong, Baby Peach, Baby Daisy, R.O.B., Magikoopa, Petey Pirahna and the Koopalings. Toadsworth is another character that would be cool to include as well.
    Weather/Time of Day: I completely agree! This needs to be included.
    Online: I strongly agree, this would make the game a lot more fun.
    Conclusion: I really hope Nintendo makes a Mario Kart Maker. It would very possibly be the most enjoyable game Nintendo ever makes, or at least one of the most enjoyable. In order for this to work however there has to be a lot of different elements included like the ones you mentioned in your video. I hope it won't be missing a lot like in Super Mario Maker 1 or Super Mario Maker for the 3DS.

    I have never thought about this, but this is genius. But if this were to happen, I'd hope they wouldn't forget about Battle mode. Also, for the upload criteria, maybe it'd have an automatic checkpoint system that you can mess with manually if you want, as well as making an out-of-bounds area where Lakitu drags you back. Also, each course would need to be completed in each CC for it to be available in said CC. You could upload in only one CC, but that'd mean that it'd only be available in said CC. So if I made a course and completed it in 50 CC to upload, I can't play in 200 CC until I clear the course in that CC.

    I am full of ideas if it ever came to fruition. It reminds me a lot of LittleBigPlanet Karting and Modnation Racers and I really enjoyed those two games out of the PS3 which I don't really care about PlayStation after that point. Also... Nin10doland... what world do you live in where Mario Kart Super Circuit is called Mario Kart *Super Sircuit* . Ha ha ha!

    Fun fact: F-Zero has a Track Editor not once but twice with the games
    - F-Zero X Expansion Kit for the Nintendo 64+Nintendo 64 Disk Drive launch in 2000 for Japan Only which allow players to create their on original full 3D tracks
    - F-Zero Climax for the Nintendo Game Boy Advance in 2004 launch in Japan Only which has a build inside the game a Track Editor which allows players to create their on original 2D tracks

    I know this sounds far-fetched, but I'd like to see a "Diddy Kong Racing" style for "Mario Kart Maker" where you can choose to have your vehicle be a car, a hovercraft, or a plane, but the tracks can work with all three vehicle types.

    I think its a good and fun idea, but maybe not include items that havent been in Mariokart before. For example keys, i think keys would be kinda weird to have in Mariokart, especially with the "finding" part, because Mariokart is a racing game so there isnt any time to find items to use at specific places. Otherwise i think its a great idea and i would definetly buy the game if it released :)

    What would be even better is making an official custom track dlc, similar to ctgp, maybe they could add that once they are done with the booster course pass

    You know how Sony beat Nintendo to Mario Maker with Little Big Planet and Little Big Planet 2? Well, they beat Nintendo to this as well. There was something like this on PlayStation 3. It was called Modnation Racers. They did sell DLCs of some Sony characters such as Sly Cooper, but fans could create custom characters, tracks, and karts from stickers, props, and parts they could earn or buy as DLC. There were even various track themes they had for the game. Example, there was an Artic Tour and an Asian Tour DLC for those themes to create more tracks. Granted, the power up system, pixelated style, and anti-gravity modes weren't part of the game, but the game did have a lot of potential. I'd love to see Sony bring it back with a PS5 and PC installment.

    What about weather events. I know it sounds dumb, but it could really make a track stand out, like have day, night, rainy, thunderstorm, cloudy, Dark sky, and Thunder rain night

    I think this video i great, however, I think there is one thing that could be improved.
    I think for the level creating/editing, the track creation should be with splines instead of placing blocks as it would be less time consuming. Everything else would be placed on a 3D grid system as objects like in Mario Maker (but 3D), just the track would be controlled using splines. The splines could be editable by dragging around points in the grid which would be interpolated to create the track, You can also add/remove points and choose whether the turn is sharp or smooth. There should also be options to change the style of track between ice/water/road like with semisolids in Mario Maker.

    One thing as far as the track editor: one big example that comes to mind is the little PS3 gem LittleBig Planet Karting. That thing had probably one of the best track editors I’ve seen where it essentially had you paint-roll a circular track using what are essentially simple free-flight controls. After creating the track it then gave you freedom to decorate it. Could be a prime example to follow for any up-and-coming custom track editor. Genuinely one of the best feeling track editors I’ve ever had the pleasure of playing with.

    Fans actually did it themselves!
    ...well, Sonic fans, that is, but still - with the help of _Zone Builder,_ you can make your own courses *and Cups* to race in for Sonic Robo Blast 2 Kart. (While there aren't exactly "styles" you can choose from - it's all in one style, you can basically make your own theme and such. And the game is practically *all about* multiplayer, so there's that.)

    You know what I think this should also have if it ever comes? A mission mode maker. Like, you make a stage where you set a condition to do something and set a timer for when you get up to three stars or, at the worst, a C. And also, boss battles. I think how it was in DS was perfect, something like this would be perfect to return
