The suggestion for those two codes is to replace the solenoid, under car - between the rear wheels on my 2020 Ford Fusion SE. I had the same codes, replaced the solenoid, but the problem didn’t go away. The solenoid was “clicking” when I tested it off the car, so it was working. I thought maybe it was a bad seal on the solenoid, so I still replaced it. The problem was really with the purge valve that you show in the video. Same thing that you had with the suction. I also tested it by blowing in it like a whistle. There was air flow, which should not be there with a functioning purge valve - it should stay closed.
@@mweis2000 Ive noticed for me it helps alot when you press the gas. I dont even turn off my car I just leave it on and put $5 every couple minutes till its full so it doesnt run so rough
I have a 2018 fusion se with the code p0456 & every time after pumping gas, it refuses to turn on and it takes a while to do so. Yesterday my car started making a weird noise and when I came to a complete stop at a stop sign, my car started to jerk while holding the brake. I got home and got off to see where the noise was coming from and my gas cap was basically farting lol, could that code be the problem of it jerking & making that noise?
The fact that you are working in that cold shows that you are an awesome person.
😀

Thanks a bunch man! I'm a new tech so this was a great lesson in diagnosing a bad purge valve for this vehicle!
You are welcome. Thanks for watching like and subscribe. Good luck with your career.
my car is the same year , currently doing the same exact thing with the same codes. thank you
You’re welcome, like and subscribe. Hope you have a great day.
The intermittent no start is from filling your tank up. I have these codes rn. Getting a valve soon

Same here. Everytime I put fuel in the tank, it takes a few “cranks” to get it started.

Great Diag!
I have code p0496 but can’t find any replacement parts at auto parts stores 😢
Time to go to the dealer😢🎉
Always look online cartparts etc its what ur dealer does
Were you able to find the part number? I’m having the same issue
So is this the solenoid that needs replacing? Cause I think I bought the ring part
Purge valve solenoid is the part that was wrong with this car very common failure, part, and easy to check

Sounds like you have too much pressure building up in the fuel system possibly a stopped up charcoal canister, or a bad canister vent valve
Yes, it sounds like it could all be tied together
