Not many critters eat moles
Now why is that? I know predators don't like eating other predators cause that increases the chance of interesting poisons, toxins etc
@@maddumass William Buckland, known for eating every animal he could, opined that mole meat tasted vile.
I watched a hawk catch & eat a mole in my back yard a couple of years back. I didn't see if it aye the whole thing, I was just amazed that it was able to detect and catch it.
@@maddumass Moles taste very bad. It's a defense mechanism. Any predator that tries to eat a mole will throw up, and learn a lesson about why it should never eat a mole again. It's kinda like how some insects, like monarch butterflies, taste bad as a way to protect itself from predators.

We had a mole trap that didn't require any digging. You pushed down a section of the mole tunnel, and then pushed the trap's 4 legs into the dirt around the tunnel. It had a pressure plate that the mole pushed up when digging the tunnel back open. You set the trap by pulling up the spring handle and and set the catch on the pressure plate like and old spring mouse trap. When the mole pushed the tunnel back up, it set off the trap and 3 spikes on either side of the pressure plate were slammed into the ground. No more mole. You could verify the mole was caught by the color of the spikes when they came back up out of the ground. Trust me, you know. You could even leave the mole in the tunnel to fertilize the yard...

I like my scissor-style mole traps. I have never had one sprung that didn't have a mole caught. Spear/prong types used to give me many false alarms.

2) It was thanks to you that I bought the GopherHawk. It is a fantastic trap and after the straps got bent, I was able to buy new ones without having to get a brand new trap.
Before watching just love the assortment of videos you've been adding. So far all I have liked.
I have about 5 different traps and I can't set them because of strength issues, I have to get my man to set them for me, and some he has trouble with. I'm going to give this one a try, doesn't look like it needs brute strength to set it. Thank Shawn!

Thanks Shawn for another awesome review. I also find that the Victor Out of Sight jaw trap to be the most effective mole traps for instant kill/ humane mole control. I do like the Gopherhawk trap also, but unfortunately I find that you can't count on a instant/humane kill every time, but you have to take the good with the bad when it comes to those pesky animals. Thanks again, keep up the good work.

I believe you just can't show the act of it dying. But either way, there's no serious damage to it (and no gore) so it'd probably pass through

i used the old kind of scissor trap with a bucket over the top. but those look good, i have seen some big moles, good luck my friend

I was wondering how you would catch and relocate a woodpecker that's being a peckerhead towards my house.
I've tried dangly flashy bits, owl decoys etc., but nothing works long term.
Any link on where to purchase this?
I have one of those traps, and most times it just contains a large chunk of soil that the mole pushes in front of himself. I think the trap that shoots a blank is the best. The shockwave goes through the soil and kills the mole even if it's 20 cm from the trap.

That would be illegal in my country, since Moles are contributors to various pests they help to keep in check. You are allowed to shoo them away with certain gadgets. Same for wasps here too.

I once caught a mole by hand. To be honest it was easy.
Im no trapping expert but i have mole problems. I found this product to be far to sensitive. Could scarcely get it set. Will stick with the Victor. Good vid though. If you were here in NE Oklahoma - i'd hire you in a heartbeat

I don't like that you have to open the tunnel and set it in the path. I have of 20 mounds in my yard.
Yes, it's difficult knowing which is the most recent one. I have seen videos where smoke is used. It fills the entire system and kills the mole.
All you have to do is fill the mound and smooth the dirt out. Wait for the next mound to be created and set your trap.
