These are the two trucks I'm looking at for my future buy. Thank you so much for doing this comparison. I had a 2006 GMC Sierra Denali, then went to a 2013 Chevrolet 1500 LT.... I really like the AT4 for everything it has. To me it seems the AT4 is closer in comparison to the Chevrolet High Country trim level based on standard and available features. Which one will I likely pick, you ask? AT4 with 6.2L. Looks to have everything I both need AND want at this point in my truck life.
I'll get the AT4 6.2 fully loaded, carbon pro. Just wish it had other interior color options. I don't like the orange inserts. Hopefully the '22 models have more choices like a 2 tone black & tan with black wood trim.
I am currently working my ass off to get a AT4. The Sierra in the video is the exact truck I am working on getting right down to the color. Because I want one I see GMC's everywhere, even my darn TH-cam videos lol. Thanks for the video
Tough choice! Have to find a dealership that has both and make a day of it. It would be both fun and would annoy the sales dept. win-win. Besides price, the only reason I don’t have one is dealerships here in the U.S. I hope the dealerships in Canada are better. Wonder if I could buy there and “import” it to the USA?? Even in metric it would be worth it to skip U.S. dealerships!
Dang I’d love to have that AT4 just barely got my 15 z71 Silverado several months ago. Hoping to have that eventually if not I’d be willing to trade my truck for it! I love the look of the chevys up until this past year gmc has definitely knocked it out of the park. Awesome video! I’ll sub
Awesome trucks. The black bumpers on the Trailboss kind of reminds me of a work truck. I like the black grille on it's own. How they had it on the Red Line edition demo. Would you know any information if GM releasing the Red Line Edition on the Silverado's?
So far, no word yet on a Redline Edition. They were even suppose to have a RealTree Edition out this year, but Covid seems to have pushed some things back.
Considered both but the GMC has much better leasing prices, so I pick up my ‘21 AT4 6.2 at the end of the month! Also, you mentioned colour matched grill on the AT4, although the Carbon Pro has specific coloured accents including grill 👍 also, the Chevy has the option to have power up tailgate (which is rather have than the multi pro...). I actually didn’t know about the memory seats and passenger seat being manual differences!! Great vid
Good point in regards to the Carbon Pro. Yes you do have the option for the power up gate in the Silverado, but the Multi-Flex also sounds like it's on its way as well!!
I’m 16 gonn be 17 this year I’ll start working this year atleast somewhere around October and I’ll work my ass not spend a single dollar well maybe a couple but not that much and I’ll save up until I’m 18 so that I can make my credit and try to get a used 2019 Sierra since by then they’ll be almost 4 years old and pretty sure they’ll have huge discounts by then maybe
Jeff, thanks again for a fun informative video. Ever one of those options you talked about pushed me to the 2021 AT4. And i use and enjoy each of those the tail gate has come in incredibly handy.
Great comparison! One major thing you missed, which was the main selling point for me is that adaptive cruise control is only available in the AT4 not the Trail Boss! I was torn between the 2 trucks until I found that out. I work at a Chevy dealership and could have gotten a discount on a Trail Boss but decided to pay full price for the AT4. It should be delivered on 04/28/21 and I can't wait!
After waiting and waiting in my area for a AT4 with Tech package and because of the shortage of chips I was told by dealership it would take a while before they would be available. Got a great deal on AT4 without tech package. Is this something that can be added later to the truck ?
@@paulwhite6367 It really came down to availability and what I was getting for my trade, the GMC dealer didn't have the selection and the Chevy dealer had what I wanted and gave me top dollar for the trade which was a Chevy truck.

Hey Jeff can you actually look at the dura trac tires on the truck itself and look for the snow ❄️ flake and mountain peak and see if they are winter rated . The reason I ask is some you tubers say gm don’t put the snow flake on them from the factory. But Goodyear website says that tire comes with the winter rating on it.
@@GeneralMotorsJeff ok so it is true that General Motors made a deal with good year to put cheaper compound dura trac tires on them. And not give it the winter rating? On Goodyear manufacture website says the dura trac tires are winter rated with the peak and snow flake on it.🤔
I can't speak to any of that...I am not sure how they would be a cheaper compound? But I do know Goodyear does make a few compounds in the Duratrac in general.... Wish i was more help in this
The downside with the snowflake Duratracs is that they will wear faster in the summer. They use a softer rubber to earn that snowflake on the sidewall. A friend had both versions on the same truck and the snowflake tire wore out quicker, especially on gravel.
I bought the '21 AT4 (6.2L). The standard non-color matched (and rough textured) fender flares are terrible. Thankfully, I was able to go onto the GMC website and buy color matched (cayenne red tintcoat) smooth fender flares. IMHO, should have came with them. The TrailBoss has no flares. We don't talk that fast down 'ere in Oklahoma...guess the coffee is stronger in Ontario!
Ha ha....I don't even have that much coffee..just highly energetic when I do my vids I suppose lol. I am glad you were able to get the colour matched flares that we had spoken about.....Because I have learned they have stopped producing them recently.

Biggest difference that I noticed for looking at the 2024 versions is that the AT4 has heated and ventilated seats and the trail boss LT does not.. Tricoat pearl is available on the trail boss but it is not available on the AT4. GM always does this weird stuff....lol And of course the AT4 is quite a bit more money. And even if you fully deck out a trail boss LT still won't be as many features available except the nicer paint on the outside....lol
Trail boss is the bad boy here. Unless you obviously want to spend more for some more gadgets. I have the trail boss and put it through the toughest trails and it’s yet to say no. Buy the way not hating on AT4 it’s a great truck.
I think the AT4 is hands down better looking in the trail boss. But looking at The 2022 Yukon escalade, Suburban The dash is gonna change entirely On this trucks
I really like many things of the TrailBoss as well....Many of us don't NEED cooled seats, or memory seats or even leather...It's nice to be able to get an awesome looking/performing truck, minus a few features...which also makes it better priced too :) And yes, that 6.2L is a beast!!
@@GeneralMotorsJeff true. Got the LT with 2 convenience packages and the safety package. So it has almost everything but no cooled seats.lol but love the 6.2!
I really like the in-depth comparison videos. I have been out of the sales side of GM for a few years now, but looking at a new truck to replace my current Silverado. My question/s to you are this. I've searched your page and have not found what I am looking for, so it mat be there already. If not, can you do a video between the 3 Denali trucks. What are the differences between the 1500 and 2500 as far as features (not weight ratings). But my real question is, what are the differences between the Denali 2500 and 3500 SRW? What makes the 3500 able to do more work? The older GM trucks had a few differences, but then again, the weight ratings weren't as dramatic as they are on these newer trucks. Thanks a lot in advance.
Both sharp trucks. Money a consideration or not, the extras on the GMC do nothing for me, so I'd take the Trail Boss and put the 5 grand towards a new bike or sled.
AT4 is way better looking, IMO. Saw one parked a couple weeks ago and was really impressed with the looks. And I don’t drive a full size truck, I own a Frontier. What size tires?? 31”? 33”?

Liked the video but isn't the 4x4 system different too or was that just 2020? Limited slip vs locking differentials?
No, both the TrailBoss and AT4 come
Standard with the G80 auto locking differential.
Do the seats have lubar adjustments if so which truck?
They both do!
I have the 3.0 Carbon Pro and damn this truck is the best.
Awesome choice of truck!!
AT4 has a more aggressive look to it which i like more, but both very good trucks
I dunno,,, I think they BOTH look aggressive for sure 😁👍🏼
2.7 T was available on trail boss in Florida at our local dealer. they are hard to find right now. 12/20
The 2.7L 4cyl turbo is NOT an option in the Silverado TrailBoss
Im glad you did this, direct comparison.
Thanks for watching!!
The Trial Bosses wireless charging is on the armrest.
My AT4 has the Kicker sound system in the tailgate
I’ve sold a few with the kicker system... it’s pretty cool for sure!
is rear view mirroir cam standard on at4?
No, not a standard option
@@GeneralMotorsJeff Thank you sir
@@celiactrunc of course! No problem!
Biggest difference that I noticed for looking at the 2024 versions is that the AT4 has heated and ventilated seats and the trail boss LT does not..
Tricoat pearl is available on the trail boss but it is not available on the AT4.
GM always does this weird stuff....lol
And of course the AT4 is quite a bit more money.
Great choice on the TrailBoss Josiel!
Does trailboss offer diesel engine?
No, not at this time.
@@GeneralMotorsJeff currently looking at the Toyota tundra, gmc yukon, or gmc sierra at4 diesel
I either need all those options in my Trail Boss, or I need that AT4 with a trailboss front clip! 😂
Lol that would be cool
isn't the "front clip" the same on both. ? To me the front clip is the frame, and they both have the same frame.
Please can you do a silverado trailboss vs tahoe z71 or sierra at4 vs yukon at4..thanks
I will try to do something like that...The issue for me right now is inventory...Tahoe/Yukons are SO hard to get at the moment!
@@GeneralMotorsJeff No worries. In my country we don't have the trucks only the suvs.
@@aliberjawi9104 Ah ok..gotcha! Where are you from?
@@GeneralMotorsJeff Beirut,Lebanon ..Current owner of 2017 silverado , 2018 trax and 2019 blazer.
@@GeneralMotorsJeff huge fan of the channel..always diverse interesting content 👌.
I think the AT4 is hands down better looking in the trail boss. But looking at The 2022 Yukon escalade, Suburban The dash is gonna change entirely On this trucks
We will see some changes in ‘22 for sure!
GMC at4 looks nice! That’s going to be my next choice ☺️
Nice choice
Thank.bro , now I am in a dilemma of which one I’m getting.
Glad I got the 5.3 with a ten speed trail boss.
Nice choice Russell!
I'll never understand but I think all cars seats on all trims should have power adjust
I agree with you Kris
You forgot to mention that the trailers only comes as a half ton option
I bought the Trail Boss LT 6.2 and love it. Actually like it better than the GMC.
@@dubltap7216 Ha ha..yes thats a pretty high-trimmed out truck!! Congrats again! :)
@@GeneralMotorsJeff bad choice the AT4 is so much better. My opinion. Had the trailboss for a week, got the At4 instead, it's so much better to me...
Same here. Got the 2020 Trailboss LT in 6.2 and it’s been great. Going to add a corsa cat back to add some extra depth to that 6.2 ;-)
He said z71 for us American hotdogs....hell yeah !
You bet I did! Haha 😁🇨🇦🇺🇸
You sure the 5.3 engine is available on the AT4? Build and price does not give you that option
Options/availability have changed since the video was made... But yes, it is still available... At least up here in Canada it is 😃👍🏼
Love Both but rolling with Chevrolet.
I’m with you, I like the both, but good choice on the Chevy 😁👍🏼
I've always thought turn signal mirror were probably one of the most important safety features in vehicles.
Why don't these trucks have them???
The signal faces forward on new vehicles
Also the reason is for more safety features, such as blind spot monitoring which these trucks don’t have 😒
I prefer the looks of the AT4. I dont need some of those extra bells and whistles though.
It is a great looking truck for sure Mike!!
The big difference is the GMC is worth it. Looks way better.
Looks are subjective though 😁👍🏼 lol
Looks wise you have to give it to the trail boss, but creature comforts definitely goes to the AT4
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
That’s great rationale!
AT4 is way better looking, IMO. Saw one parked a couple weeks ago and was really impressed with the looks. And I don’t drive a full size truck, I own a Frontier.
What size tires?? 31”? 33”?
31”
