Just picked up mine 30 days ago and love it. That 5.3 is the boss. Dealership offered me the same exact truck with the 61 v8 but he told me I had to use 93 octane. No thank you as this will be my daily driver
Great explanation of the differences between these 2. Also found the video between elevation and at4 to be very informative. Even though I already own a 2020 elevation.
I have a 2019 Silverado rst with the z71 package, and at least from what I was told at the dealer, you could get the 5.3 married to the 10 speed if I waited for the 2020 models(I chose the 8 speed, due to better performance). I also have the keyless entry buttons on all 4 doors.

From 1999-2002 had two door Sierra and 2003 to 2019 drove the same Sierra extended cab 4.8L until it got wrecked by a transport truck. Now, I'm driving a toy SUV until I decide what I want next. Really loving the AT4 and the Yukon. Hard choice.
I just got my 2021 RST with baby duramax. First impressions are fantastic. Still own my 2015 Duramax Denali 2500 and it has been the best truck I ever had on the farm. From what I see the RST is equal or better. Keeping the 2015 for the big jobs.
I have a 2020 elevation and I love it. The only 2 issues I have is #1 the lumbar could be better on long drives and #2 the infotainment will glitch sometimes by showing I'm connected via Bluetooth but then I won't hear any audio. So I have to turn Bluetooth off (on my galaxy not if that matters) then reconnect it then it's fine.
Gm fan love the elevation super sad it can’t be equipped with the 6.2 almost makes you want to wait for one to come out before purchasing one. The leather option would look sweet!
I got the 2021 Elevation a couple weeks ago. It's an awesome truck. only thing it didn't have was driver assistance like parking sensors. for $65k i'm surprised they aren't standard.
My 2020 Elevation also comes with LED’s in the side view mirrors. Not sure if that’s an option in the Silverado? Wish the multi-Pro tailgate was an option in the 2020 though.
I looove my 2020 3.0L rst.. AND YOU ARE CORRECT SIR! Amazing features and capability.. havent reached 100k miles yet but ill wait; nonetheless, every option will please a person who can appreciate thought and effort into trucks like these

I have a 2019 RST with leather, center console, and the park assist sensors. It has a 5.3L V8, and the only thing I’d change is that it be mated with a 10-speed instead of the 8-speed in my truck. Otherwise, I LOVE my truck and get compliments on the way it looks in shadow gray metallic all the time. It’s like being a hot girl and having dudes stare at you and do double takes. 🤩
@@GeneralMotorsJeff Indeed! Otherwise, I’m in love with the AT4. I just don’t need the 4WD and lift. I just love GM trucks; I go back and forth between Silverados and Sierras for preference. I prefer the Silverado in the current body style (RST in particular), but the Sierra in the prior style. My father-in-law has a 2017 Sierra SLT that I envied until I got my RST.
@@GeneralMotorsJeff the gauges have a different shape. In the Chevy they are round and the GMC is Octagon shape around each gauge. Interior photos of the Sierra and the Silverado should show this. Not sure if people notice.
I got my 2021 elevation a week ago and love it, few things I wish it had is the 6.2 which was an option in 2020. And second is power mirrors, My first option was the at4 but could not get it with the max trailer package so I opted for the elevation, Oh and no dual exhaust with the max trailer package.
@@dewaldkrause5763 my F150 is going on 5 years has had no issues. One set of tires, rear brake pads once which is lifetime free replacement from Ford and oil changes every 5K. It’s an ecoboost motor if you’re wondering. I drive 20K miles per year doing Construction, fairly heavy use.
Ford drives nice i gone through 3 fords in 11 months, personally I think nothing beats my 07 tundra, (still gave it) only reason I didn't go back to the tundra is the gas mileage sucks, 300 thousand on her and still going strong, do like my gmc ride so nice
Dead wrong. The elevation is actually less in my neck of the woods. The RST's are marked up a little higher for limited supply. Stickers are about equal otherwise.

I picked up a GMC Sierra Denali with the 3.0 diesel a few months ago. But i was looking at the Chevy Silverado RST with the 6.2. Chevy let’s you load that bad boy up pretty good. But it does get expensive. In the end, the Sierra Denali won because everything comes standard except the engine.
I would pick the gmc for better looks.and also I would order another set of those Chevy rims and put it on the gmc. Drive train and axle components are the same specs.I did that with my 04 Tahoe,put 2018 18 inch rims honeycomb style from gmc vehicle onto my Chevy and changed and bought the Chevy emblem centre caps and it looks awesome. My original 17 inch rims I have winter tires on it.
I own a 2020 RST with the 3.0L turbo diesel. Great truck and value. I would say the elevation is an equivalent of the custom trail boss level . The RST is more on the level of the AT4 . Of course you will have to option out your RST as I did but gives you a lot of premium options without going to the LTZ or High Country options . I prefer the wheel well design of Chevrolet but everyone has there own taste . Pro tail on the Sierra is cool but keep in mind if you have a hitch it will hit when used as step. Also thinking long term more components to fail. Both are awesome trucks.

I have since put bigger tires and a level kit which has reduced my fuel economy. overall I would get 28mpg highway and 20 city. over all I get about 22mpg average. Truck is pretty quiet for a diesel. I would recommend this option over a V8 gas for the fuel economy and longevity. Still has tons of torque and towing capacity.
I have been EXTREMELY frustrated with Chevy's lack of flexibility with options and packaging to the point that I was ready to buy a ford. I really like the Chevy's looks, but when I found that the Elevation has the option of a 5.3L with a 10 speed it was a 2021 X31 for me.
I’m in the market for that same elevation however what package do I ask for when looking for the package that has bucket seats with the light on the side view mirrors that face the front of the truck
Shoot..sorry I just saw this!!! You can order the bucket seats as a seperate option and then you would need to order the Driver Alert Package 1 for the mirror lights
Been really conflicted. I would like an RST having a hard time choosing an engine. I like the 2.7L but hate the exhaust note, I like the 5.3L but hate the 8spd and feel the 5.3L is a little under powered, I love the 6.2L but 93 octane is rare and expensive, the 3.0L is nice but doesn't have the get up and go of the Gas counter parts. I am saving for a new truck and looking for a sporty fast truck with decent gas mileage that can tow at minimum 7600lbs. What are your recommendation?
the one you said doesn't have the get up and go is the one you want. I drove on today and trust me, it have plenty of get up and go (torque). Twisted the tires pulling out of the dealership without trying. If you want fuel mileage and plenty of torque and pulling power, you're describing the 3.0L diesel power plant. go drive one and you be the judge.
I just traded in my 6.2l Silverado for a 24 elevation with the 5.3l. Running premium fuel is the 6.2 was getting too expensive, I average 40k miles a year. I know of 2 different people that ran 87 octane in the 6.2 and both had lifter failure leading to other damage, so your paying one way or another with the 6.2l.
Both are beautiful trucks; however, the Silverado has a more aggressive and sporty look that is geared more for younger truck owners. The GMC looks like a truck that my Dad and grandfather would gladly drive. Can’t go wrong with either one.
The thing that irks me with the Chevrolet is the fact there are no wheel opening mouldings available at all. In the rust belt, there is not a Chev on the road that is more than 8 years old that Don have rusted wheel wells. Deal breaker for me unless dealer I’ll pay to have them properly sprayed with box liner. And that ain’t going to happen.
Thanks for the info. I like the styling of the GMC better. The fancy tailgate, I dont think I would order. Just something else to cause problems down the road. I am considering the AT-4 in 2022.
If you get the X31 package with the GMC or the Z71 package with the RST.... ALSO, if you have the 6.2L in the RST it automatically comes with the 2-speed transfer case (which gets you the 4-Lo)
I haven’t looked at an Elevation build the past few weeks, but in Canada the sunroof was still an orderable option for 2021... They eliminated leather as a choice however.

No love for the Chevy eh !!! I just bought a 2020 White RST with 5.3L 8 speed with sunroof. This thing is a show stopper, the first thing people say when they the truck is how agressive the front end looks. I have a 2017 sierra as well and i have to say I'd choose the new silverado styling over the sierras (this time around) I do find it obsurd that all these trucks dont come standard with the safety package. I would have traded the $1300 sunroof option for the $900 safety package in a heart beat!

And that is why I hate shopping for a new truck. Manufacturers playing stupid games with packages. I loved my '08 Sierra vortec max. Maybe I'll just try and find another.

Got a Silverado and it’s already falling apart. Bought it with 18 miles. Has 3k on it. Knocking when turning. Has a vibration coming from the engine bay when idle. Door panels are falling off on all the doors. I’m going to trade it in and probably never buy another one. Why would you build a 40k truck so cheap.
Maybe it was just a Monday or a Friday build? 🤷🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️ Sorry to hear about the bad experience though Bob 🙁... I can say they aren’t all like that, that’s for sure
@@GeneralMotorsJeff well it kinda sucks. Because you can’t just go back and say hey can I exchange this. You’re kinda stuck with it unless you pay more money to get another one. I’ll have to pay taxes and everything again. It’s under warranty. But it’s not like they are going to fix it all. They’ll probably say I can’t find it.
I went back an forth until my head almost blew up. I finally chose the 2021 RST. I am not into the all black wheel look. As soon as they get dirty they still look like someone stole your hubcaps to me, haha. The wheels and tires on the RST, as well as the sleeker front end finally sold me, and I have never regretted it for a second. RST is also more aerodynamic and gets a little better gas mileage. Its sleeker look just seems to fit me better. At first I wanted the tailgate on the GMC for stepping up in the bed, but when I realized that it is like opening your door twice to be able to use it and then you have to close the door twice. I realized I would just use the steps on either side of the tailgate more often. I got the Duramax and am getting 24 miles a gallon.

You didn’t mention that Chevy throws in the 2speed transfer case which gives you 4 low in the z71 package. The GMC Sierra only gives it to you if you get the at4 or Denali package. Chevy wins
Not true. The 2speed transfer case does come in the Chevrolet when you get the Z71, yes, BUT it also comes standard when you get either brand with the 6.2L and also it comes when you get the X31 package in the GMC Sierra.

I've experienced the same with mine. I used Amazon Music and Google maps at the same time and had problems getting the music to play.

I got a 21 elevation last June. I do love the truck, but I wish it had leather interior. Mine was only 46,000 tho.
I build these motors now and use to assemble the these trucks. Both trucks are made on the same line with obviously some different parts

I chose RST, for leather and the 6.2L 10 speed. IMO chevy front end is much nicer

I have been EXTREMELY frustrated with Chevy's lack of flexibility with options and packaging to the point that I was ready to buy a ford. I really like the Chevy's looks, but when I found that the Elevation has the option of a 5.3L with a 10 speed it was a 2021 X31 for me.

Shoot..sorry I just saw this!!! You can order the bucket seats as a seperate option and then you would need to order the Driver Alert Package 1 for the mirror lights

Been really conflicted. I would like an RST having a hard time choosing an engine. I like the 2.7L but hate the exhaust note, I like the 5.3L but hate the 8spd and feel the 5.3L is a little under powered, I love the 6.2L but 93 octane is rare and expensive, the 3.0L is nice but doesn't have the get up and go of the Gas counter parts. I am saving for a new truck and looking for a sporty fast truck with decent gas mileage that can tow at minimum 7600lbs. What are your recommendation?
the one you said doesn't have the get up and go is the one you want. I drove on today and trust me, it have plenty of get up and go (torque). Twisted the tires pulling out of the dealership without trying. If you want fuel mileage and plenty of torque and pulling power, you're describing the 3.0L diesel power plant. go drive one and you be the judge.
It has no power at higher speeds anything 65 mph or higher there is no power
I just traded in my 6.2l Silverado for a 24 elevation with the 5.3l. Running premium fuel is the 6.2 was getting too expensive, I average 40k miles a year. I know of 2 different people that ran 87 octane in the 6.2 and both had lifter failure leading to other damage, so your paying one way or another with the 6.2l.

Both are beautiful trucks; however, the Silverado has a more aggressive and sporty look that is geared more for younger truck owners. The GMC looks like a truck that my Dad and grandfather would gladly drive. Can’t go wrong with either one.

The thing that irks me with the Chevrolet is the fact there are no wheel opening mouldings available at all.
In the rust belt, there is not a Chev on the road that is more than 8 years old that Don have rusted wheel wells.
Deal breaker for me unless dealer I’ll pay to have them properly sprayed with box liner.
And that ain’t going to happen.

If you get the X31 package with the GMC or the Z71 package with the RST.... ALSO, if you have the 6.2L in the RST it automatically comes with the 2-speed transfer case (which gets you the 4-Lo)

Did they recently remove the sunroof option for the Elevation? It's not in the build options.
I haven’t looked at an Elevation build the past few weeks, but in Canada the sunroof was still an orderable option for 2021... They eliminated leather as a choice however.

No love for the Chevy eh !!! I just bought a 2020 White RST with 5.3L 8 speed with sunroof. This thing is a show stopper, the first thing people say when they the truck is how agressive the front end looks. I have a 2017 sierra as well and i have to say I'd choose the new silverado styling over the sierras (this time around) I do find it obsurd that all these trucks dont come standard with the safety package. I would have traded the $1300 sunroof option for the $900 safety package in a heart beat!

Dual exhaust only comes if you order the X31 Package with the Elevation (along with the 5.3L as well of course)

Got a Silverado and it’s already falling apart. Bought it with 18 miles. Has 3k on it. Knocking when turning. Has a vibration coming from the engine bay when idle. Door panels are falling off on all the doors. I’m going to trade it in and probably never buy another one. Why would you build a 40k truck so cheap.

I bought the 2020 Silverado RST Z71 with the 5.3 and Cajun Red Tintcoat paint. And the Gideon interior. Black is a deal breaker for me in any vehicle.

I went back an forth until my head almost blew up. I finally chose the 2021 RST. I am not into the all black wheel look. As soon as they get dirty they still look like someone stole your hubcaps to me, haha. The wheels and tires on the RST, as well as the sleeker front end finally sold me, and I have never regretted it for a second. RST is also more aerodynamic and gets a little better gas mileage. Its sleeker look just seems to fit me better.
At first I wanted the tailgate on the GMC for stepping up in the bed, but when I realized that it is like opening your door twice to be able to use it and then you have to close the door twice. I realized I would just use the steps on either side of the tailgate more often.
I got the Duramax and am getting 24 miles a gallon.

You didn’t mention that Chevy throws in the 2speed transfer case which gives you 4 low in the z71 package. The GMC Sierra only gives it to you if you get the at4 or Denali package. Chevy wins
Not true. The 2speed transfer case does come in the Chevrolet when you get the Z71, yes, BUT it also comes standard when you get either brand with the 6.2L and also it comes when you get the X31 package in the GMC Sierra.
