Me too. I sacrificed power, screen tech and waterproofing for that keyboard and battery. Had the original keyone (my son now has that) then got the black edition for that extra gig of ram and storage. The only thing I'll ditch my keyone for is a keytwo. My 2nd phone was an s8 but I ditched that recently for a Blackberry Motion. it's not as good as the keyone or as pretty the s8 but I got too used to the keyone's battery and I wanted another phone with a stellar battery and the BB Motion met that requirement. The Mrs is happy as she inherited the s8. If you asked me a year ago what my two main phones would be I'd have never said two blackberries!
I have it as my daily driver and agree hands down it gets S... done and keeps you going for longer. The next version should address computing power, maybe fine tune the camera so it’s excellent and not just good and blackberry would have a real flagship killer
Traded my s8 for the keyone. It just does what I need. The physical keyboard makes it a solid communication device, and that's the primary use of my phone.
And thanks to an article by Verge... the KeyOne and the s8 actually have the same horizontal width screen. And the BlackBerry is 70% vertical (which is the same size when using the s8 with the virtual keyboard).
I just inserted my Sim again on my keyone after 3 days of iPhone usage. I miss the stellar battery life of the keyone and the fells of how it was built. Really a fantastic phone
Just a small note: the Google HDR+ Camera apk requires ALL the camera2api introduced with 5.0 Lollipop to be unlocked. If Blackberry purposefully blocked for example RAW capture on a phone (like Sony stubbornly does on all of theirs), the HDR+ camera will not work.
Great love. I love my KEYone. Battery is great, blackberry hub is awesome, keyboard is great, keyboard shortcuts are priceless. I agree phone is not perfect bit it is very good. Camera is ok.
blackberry keyone is the best productive phone in the market , typing by blackberry keyone physical keyboard is more more accurate than any virtual keyboard in the market.
i love Blackberry i have the Q10; Bold, Playbook ( Tablet ) , Passport and the KEYONE ( Silver + Black Edition ) i collect them all...i love the physical keyboard but the battery life suck´s ( less then 24hour´s ) @ ITALY ( im sorry my english is not good ..... where you from ? )
while using the phone, I never noticed any performance issue. I heard blackberry tweaked the android system specifically for this device, so it is an optimized experience, and I believe this fact does matter alot.
Probably did it so that it wouldn't be seen as a gaming phone. I tried games on the original and it was bad. So I continued playing games on the iPhone 7. And the memory wasn't enough, I had to get a memory analyzer app. But with the Black Edition, I am hoping there's no problems.
Love it, I just got one after many years of using Iphone. But there are a couple of things that I haven't been able to work out and one of them is that I have no Idea on how to use the Locker app, is not very intuitive and I don't know how to save files, photos ect to it. Any guides?
Just before you take a photo you have the option to save it to the locker. Every photo you shoot after confirming on the fingerprint spacebar will be saved to the locker. When you want to view photos you use your fingerprint to unlock it to view and only you to view.
I'm a huge fan of the Passport and still have my Silver Edition, and use it from time to time. I'm typing this now on a KEYone. You'll find that the BlackBerry software will keep improving, so don't worry too much. Also, we'll get an Oreo update on our KEYone's soon..
I originally bought my KEYone for those reasons in the video but I need to tweak my phone beyond stock for my work and Blackberry's locked OS kills the deal. Many apps don't support the extra function of the keys and I'm not allowed to go in there to code it myself. This phone sounds great, on paper, but actual usage of this phone is nothing more than a glorified Facebooker/Social Media hog that requires the bare essentials of QWERTY. So basically any liberal arts student could make use of this phone. But professionals will likely use open, moddable, or well-supported solutions like software-keyboards or iOS that is well-supported.
I am a keyone user, and switched from iphone 6s. If you are a huge media consumer, like watching a lot of youtube or movies, then keyone may not be good for you. Otherwise, keyone is a go, better than 6s in any other aspect. There is bit 'learning curve' if you decided to switch to keyone, and never used any blackberry phones before, as you may will be battling whether or not to use some of the blackberry native apps, but soon you'll realize those apps made the experience that different, it's a totally worth it. Besides, you do get ability to consume media, just not as good as a full screen phone.
you talking about the 4.7 inch of the 6, 7, and 8?? keep in mind that this phone has a 3:2 aspect ratio... and is the same exact horizonal screen width of the S8 and iPhone X which doesn't take up any screen real estate with a virtual keyboard. So it gives a more natural computer feel.
Its terrible!! Pops and clicks, beeps and buzzes when i put a headset in. Otherwise i LOVE my Black Edition Keyone. Shame about the headphone jack and the camera. Otherwise its perfect for me
Hey Finley, thanks for the comment. We're in the process of an office move so the filming room was super echoey. We'll be relocating for the next vid. Have a great evening!
Is anyone experiencing that BlackBerry KeyOne oftenly get the screen blackout, while we can hear we unlock the phone, but the screen isn't active? The cure is to restart it by holding power button. What's the problem actually? Does somebody aslo experience this? please.
Hey Mario, there's a guy called Tom who works here behind the scenes and he's had a BB KEYone since launch, as his daily driver. He was telling me only a couple of days ago that his KEYone is running perfectly and faster than ever right now. Only issue with his phone is a software update that killed the right side flashing space bar light. If you haven't already - try posting your question on the forums at Crackberry.com Hope your situation there improves Mario, it's a super phones the KEYone - Hope yours is ok!
@@tech_edit indeed KeyOne is my favorite phone right now for working. Thank you so much for replying. I am gonna go to crackBerry later, trying to fix the issue. Have a good day mate.
@@rockazulla Cheers pal - you too. By the way, we have a KEY2 vs KEY2 LE video coming up in a few days - in case you'll be thinking of upgrading to either of those any time soon... (or it might make more sense to wait for the KEY3....!). See ya
Yeah, 7th June is the launch event of the KEY2 I believe - in NYC. I'm typing this on the KEYone. My favourite android phone. Cannot wait to see the KEY2!! We'll definitely get one in for review, and David get some awesome content together for you.
The Home key is actually above on the glass which is a way different feel than the physical keys. What is an occasional confusion coming from an iPhone use is the unlock is in the spacebar below and the home key is above the keyboard. I have pushed the spacebar/fingerprint sensor thinking it was the home button.
I'm not surprised it's your daily driver, it's a brilliant phone.
Finally something different from the boring slabs but this part...it's brilliantly executed ! My KEYone is what I need and use. Thanks for video.
I agree with you.
I have the bronze edition and its magnificent phone.
Me too. I sacrificed power, screen tech and waterproofing for that keyboard and battery. Rumor has it the sequel will have a slightly larger battery with a Snapdragon 660. Add 6GB RAM and you got a sure winner.
If you have friends who grab your phone and purposely drop it, then you need new friends.
In the UK that's considered humorous among working-class 'mates'
A friend that drops my phone, isn't a friend anymore! I have the Black Edition too!
I plan on adding that to my collection after Christmas! One of the best of 2017!
Traded my s8 for the keyone. It just does what I need. The physical keyboard makes it a solid communication device, and that's the primary use of my phone.

It's my daily driver too and although I really LOVED my Classic, the KEYone is best of both worlds with phenomenal battery life.
I just inserted my Sim again on my keyone after 3 days of iPhone usage. I miss the stellar battery life of the keyone and the fells of how it was built. Really a fantastic phone
I have this same phone....I switched from iPhone 7, this phone is a absolute beast!!!! I love this phone and it looks awesome
what color you have?
Snap. Had the silver one since launch. Just keeps getting better.
Please Blackberry make the Priv 2 .
Great love. I love my KEYone. Battery is great, blackberry hub is awesome, keyboard is great, keyboard shortcuts are priceless. I agree phone is not perfect bit it is very good. Camera is ok.
What kind of friends do you have that keep dropping your phone?
i was thinking the same, lol
I somehow prefer it over my N8 😎
it's a great phone i'm waiting for the KEYtwo as my current plan contract runs out in six months.
tflynn124 hopefully they release a black edition in the US for the KEYtwo in a timely manner.
would you recommend this phone today ?
blackberry keyone is the best productive phone in the market , typing by blackberry keyone physical keyboard is more more accurate than any virtual keyboard in the market.
True the BlackBerry Key series phones are awesome productivity devices. Shame it looks like there isnt gonna be KEY3
You mentioned supplier Direct Mobiles.Co.Uk BUT their website is inaccessible and online access is barred - what a great marketing idea!
i love Blackberry i have the Q10; Bold, Playbook ( Tablet ) , Passport and the KEYONE ( Silver + Black Edition ) i collect them all...i love the physical keyboard but the battery life suck´s ( less then 24hour´s ) @ ITALY ( im sorry my english is not good ..... where you from ? )
This phone is apart from the rest.
The only thing as you said would be the lack of power, at least a S65X would have been great!
while using the phone, I never noticed any performance issue. I heard blackberry tweaked the android system specifically for this device, so it is an optimized experience, and I believe this fact does matter alot.

The specs show GSM as a 2G network for this phone whereas other networks are shown as 4G. Does that mean the communications work slowly over GSM?
Please make video about Sony xz1....
Finally, I can get my crackberry on again. Giving up my Mate 9 and not turning back
IMHO a Blackberry without a Blackberry OS experience is not the same...
Mr_DOHC yeah but their os is no more :(
Thank you so much for honest review.. Btekt
Any reception issues? Thanks
Great video. Please get a mic though, couldn't hear you properly cause of echo. Thanks!

How's the LED notification light? Looked really tiny on the original Silver Keyone.
MrDefeater the same of course... kinda miss the old network coverage led indicator...keyone only has notification led...but still it's a beast phone
I buy it yesterday but I'm little bit disappointed that no photo gallery and the keyboard far different from my old passport :(
I'm a huge fan of the Passport and still have my Silver Edition, and use it from time to time. I'm typing this now on a KEYone. You'll find that the BlackBerry software will keep improving, so don't worry too much. Also, we'll get an Oreo update on our KEYone's soon..
Btekt thanks I still have also my blackberry passport silver eddition too , ok I will give it a shot

Whats your wallpaper?
who won the honor 7x from the latest giveaway?
Does the crackling headphonejack amp on high volumes persist in the black edition?
Intet Mane yes
sadly yes it does
I really want to try it, but I don't know if I can stomach a screen smaller than an iPhone 6's.

When I hold this phone in the crowd of iPhone and Samsung. \m/ seems like limited edition.
I've heard that the headphone jack output quality is weak, is this true in your opinion?
no
Its terrible!! Pops and clicks, beeps and buzzes when i put a headset in. Otherwise i LOVE my Black Edition Keyone. Shame about the headphone jack and the camera. Otherwise its perfect for me
When r u uploading honor v10 video??
When we get one to review! It's probably going to be nearer its January release.
Oh! I thought u got a review unit.
Nice video Basil! What was going on with the audio?
Hey Finley, thanks for the comment. We're in the process of an office move so the filming room was super echoey. We'll be relocating for the next vid. Have a great evening!
Thanks
KeyTwo in a matter of weeks😎
The selfie mirroring camera is annoying too

You should buy a high-quality microphone.
Does anyone have any idea when the next blackberry with a keyboard comes out?
the announcement is in 5 days for key2 maybe august is release date
Yeah, 7th June is the launch event of the KEY2 I believe - in NYC. I'm typing this on the KEYone. My favourite android phone. Cannot wait to see the KEY2!! We'll definitely get one in for review, and David get some awesome content together for you.
I will watch that on my keyone which is on its way buy post right now
Excellent choice, you'll love it. Awesome phone. Tom
Btekt Just got my KEYONE had it four hours it's awesome typing is slow but I'm sure it'll get better
It's a brick but a good brick 😎
Only real problem I have with it is accidentally hitting home if I'm not paying to much attention when I type.
yes, physical keys would be an improvement.
