      Erica Griffin still you are confused i guess.. it has SD 625. which is best battery sufficient processors they said!

    • @awhawkeye
      @awhawkeye 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Erica Griffin could you disable the universal search app and see if you notice a big speed difference? This really helped on the Priv and didn't see anyone mention this anywhere on either phones. Thank you for the great review!

    • @RenatoLaporte
      @RenatoLaporte 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rajesh Choudhary nope, she confused the 835 with a supposedly 825, nothing wrong with it, Qualcomm needs to get their shit together with the naming.
      Watching the video before being a smarty pants helps.

    • @brandongreen2345
      @brandongreen2345 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rena Chan But, he wasn't being a smarty pants at all. Maybe you shouldn't jump to conclusions. The way the wording is, you would think she was talking about the BB but she wasn't. Yes, Erica mentioned the Blackberry having an SD625... Yes, she mentioned the Galaxy having a SD825 before correcting herself. People make mistakes. Move on.

    I bought this phone because of physical keyboard but hooked on to it due to the "battery". This phone doesn't want to die.

    I got mine yesterday and it's great. Nostalgic, very well built, keyboard is outstanding, screen is surprisingly good (looks like an OLED), and it's faster than the 625 would imply. Will be my daily driver for quite awhile...

    Thank you for a well balanced and fair review of a Blackberry device which is rare to come by in this day and age. Shame that the camera seems to be the weakest link as many industries do have wide uses of good photos in professional settings. Nonetheless, I can't wait to get my hands on this phone once it is released in my home market as Whatsapp is ceasing support for my Blackberry Passport (with Blackberry's OS very soon :)

      I always have to smile when people start to like features BlackBerry had since almost forever. I was sold on it when the Q10 came out. Bummer that there were not enough people switch to it then. A world with iOS, Android and BB10 would've been more senseful than iOS, Android and WP slowly fading away.

    Thank you for the video. Just ordered a KeyOne ( black ed.) from Telus, long battery life, secure and your description of the keyboard was my deciding factor (miss my Blackberry Bold). Was torn between the Motion and Pixel2. I work on the water, north coast BC, alot of rain and storms so the IP67 was a strong consideration, so ill see if I made a wise decision. Merci pour la video, and looking forward in the KeyOne and figuring out the awesome Keyboard. 😕

    Going back and seeing this review I think it really presents a good summary of the KEYone's features and reasons to buy. Other than an occasional lag I have enjoyed it for over a year and a half. Good job, Erica!

  • @ErikN1
    @ErikN1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have watched a few of your reviews over the last year or two, and I must say that I have not seen a review anywhere else that is as detailed as yours while still managing not to get too long and boring. If I really want to know a device in depth I look for your reviews. Great work! 👍🏻 And while I have never used a blackberry, I kinda wish that this device would have been available when I bought my HTC Desire Z back in 2011. It looks like a very solid Android device for those who still want a physical keyboard. Let's just hope they keep updating it with new Android versions and more importantly, security updates, for a long time.

    I love this idea from BlackBerry. I love companies who try to introduce something different. I am looking forward to obtain this phone and I hope Blackberry will continue with this design. 80% of smartphones nowadays look and feel exactly the same. BlackBerry just introduces something different and interesting. I love it.

    Hey Erica, awesome review of the Blackberry KEYnote. I like the keyboard and the sturdy design on the back. The screen looks amazing and scrollling looks very intuitive and responsive. Love that Breath of the Wild screensaver it looked really crisp on the KEYnote's screen. I appreciate your honest and in-depth review of this phone, I'm still considering whether to get this or the Galaxy S8+ by the end of the year. Great video Erica.

      QUANTUM EL I have the S8 and the battery is amazing. Sometimes I get 8 hours of SoT. That being said, this phone looks amazing. While choosing, just consider what you personally user a phone for. The S8 is easily gonna give you a better media experience, and the camera is actually mind blowing. If your phone is a business, email, Twitter, and text machine, then for sure go for the keyone. Just don't pick it because you see that it does what it does REALLY well. You might not have very much need for what it does.

    • @QuantumEL
      @QuantumEL 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks HopperDragon, I'm thinking that I would get the KEYone now for business and later in the year pick up the S8 because I actually do love the look of the S8 and could use a phone that gives me a better media experience. I appreciate the info Hopper.

    She just taught me how to select and delete easily on my BlackBerry Priv and I've had it over a year! Blackberry has always produced devices with hidden functionality that you either stumble upon, or learn from others along the way.

  • @doddsyist

    Got the keyone a few weeks ago. yep, it's my dream phone. It's a strange feeling owning this device, have wanted a no nonsense, robust android device with BlackBerry productivity features for years. Now that I have it I don't really know how to feel about it, it's nice having a device that isn't fragile, I don't fuss over it, I just do things quickly on it then put it down, it has great battery life and i'm not worried about breaking my phone like I was when I had an iphone or curved display. it's built the way a smartphone should be. love the android keyboard shortcuts. shortpress 't' to check local traffic congestion, longpress 'g' to open google maps, shortpress 'g' to launch driving mode of google maps. 'h' navigates me home when i'm unsure of how to get out of a remote location. so many more shortcuts but I think you get the jist. keyboard browser is unreal also. so many qwerty navigation shortcuts.

  • @tubester358
    @tubester358 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Only Ericca Griffin makes videos I casually watch until I'm like "Wait, how long is this video??" and it's 15mins in and counting. Great, detailed review. Companies can't even get away with claims about their displays with you around.
    I wonder why Blackberry is insistent on sticking with physical keyboards, is there some intrinsic benefit for business people and the general customers of BB or do they just wanna serve the niche/stick to their roots/be diff? I think the main downside to physical buttons that anyone would notice is the screen size. The phone isn't as long as the S8s, is it?

      EJ FM actually not true. It's the #1 selling smartphone on amazon and best buy and is in extremely high demand. BlackBerry has what Android hasn't - hard core security! It's also a fine looking sturdy device, most people are not concerned about high specs and many ex blackberry fans will switch to the Keyone over time.

    Wow!!! Thank you Erica Griffin for the great informative review. I'm very impressed with your review as well impressed with the phone itself. I just ordered mine today from Sprint!!! Yes Sprint is carrying the BlackBerry Keyone now and can be ordered online or go to a Sprint store! Sprint refused to carry BlackBerry for many years and I almost switched away from Sprint. Until now I was stuck with the BlackBerry Q10 and I have got to say I wish they would've come out with a design like this years ago and they would've retained a lot of mobile device customers from going to iPhone or Samsung. Again, yes they should've done this years ago. I can't wait to get my order delivered. * And no I don't work for Sprint or Blackberry, I'm just a avid BlackBerry fan!

      James Rowe blackberry (now known as TCL for the hardware) should make the home recent and back keys as part of the screen instead of capacitive full buttons. they should also make it to where it goes a way after a few seconds, then when you want you just swipe up on the screen and that gesture will being back those buttons. that would for sure bring more screen real estate

    • @JonnieR

      Hmm it depends. The Note8 is more powerful obviously, but still those little things that make the blackberry the blackberry still counts. Blackberry focuses on productivity while note8 focuses more on media consumption. Nonetheless samsung note 8 is still superior when it comes to overall rating, i guess.

      Amen. Still a BB Q10 user till now. I got my Samsung Mega I use for watching vids at home but for all around phone usage, I have my Q10. It's just so much easier to fit in my pocket. It ain't bulky. It's a breeze for work usage. If you're like me who don't want a 1000 apps, or use ur phone for Pokemon GO etc then this phone is for you.

      Cheap 'n Chic ... keeping it oldskool. Question why not an iPhone as they're pocket friendly or a smaller Samsung phone?

    • @cheapnchic3390
      @cheapnchic3390 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I promise I always give it a good honest try. But I feel so distracted when using the iPhone 7+. All the apps & games, wooh! So just using that as a tablet at home now. Love Android.Prefer Windows. Other BBs, hmn, I didn't like the Priv. But the Keyone? Strongly considering upgrading to that. I just wish Apple & Samsung would consider making phones w/ physical keyboards too. Yes, pocket-friendly is important to me. Very! So ur right I do switch between BB10 & my xperia z3 but I still tend to use this more. It's hard to explain. But I feel like when my eyes sees the BB, my brain says work, emails, pdfs, etc Then when I see iphone/android, my brain says Twitter, Snapchat, Netflix, Clash of Clans etc
      LoL

    I got the PRIV at launch and it has treated me fairly well. One thing about the flip up keyboard though is that it is easy to forget about and I sometimes use the software keyboard when I could be using the much nicer hardware keyboard. This is why the KEYone intrigues me. Many of the keyboard features present on the PRIV are also on the KEYone so I'm already use to it. It also seems they've added some features. Moreover, I'm happy to see that the camera still shoots in 16:9 aspect ratios given then screen. RAW capability is something I've wanted on the PRIV as well especially since the JPEG doesn't also produce the correct color, even if you adjust the white balance beforehand, but they just haven't added it. What's frustrating is that sometimes the camera previews in the correct color but it's adjusted away once you capture. I can trick the meter sometimes but it's quite difficult. The only awkwardness on the KEYone seems to be landscape games and watching wide-screen TH-cam videos. I don't really play games but I do watch TH-cam a fair amount. For that reason, I'm also considering the DTEK60. But then, there's no beautiful keyboard.

    I was really waiting for this blackberry with pkb and android but I think i'm going to wait on the next keyone. I would love to see ois, optimized camera, waterproofing, capacitive buttons and maybe some color options. For now, i think ill get a samsung s7 for 99 dollars with my mobile contract. Saves me alot of bucks and im really hopeful we'll see the next best thing from TCL next year.

    Exactly what I want. Had the 9900, brilliant, then to the Q10 fantastic! Then the PassPort, amazing, had it stolen on the train! GRRR! Bought an Iphone 6S, like it but really miss a physical keyboard :( the PRIV was urgh, the DTEKs a no go but the KEYone looks like its everything I want! Cant wait! Rubbish name though! Great vid! Nice review as always. Thank you very much!
    It is a nice phone with unique design and features. I personally prefer physical keyboards. I can write faster and more accurate on them and without even looking!
    Yes, I can write blindly, something I can never say about touch
    keyboards.
    I prefer the Priv design. That big screen with the slider,
    just awesome! I wish Blackberry would make a Priv with updated spes.

    Great video I was thinking of this phone just not sure how it would be typing on the keyboard as I have not done it for quite some time. How does the phone feel in the hand. I’m looking for a phone that is not slippery. I don’t want to use cases anymore for my future phones. Just curious if you run the phones with cases or with. And if you don’t use cases can you suggest a phone that would stay in your without needing a case. Much appreciated

      Most people I know don't use a case with this phone, including the BB authority, CrackBerry Kevin. Every reviewer and just normal user I know of says it feels SO good and not slippery at all in the hand. :)

    I get the impression many, many BB faithful switched to Android or Apple long ago. In its day, it was unbeatable. First impressions are really good for me for this phone but I never owned a BB phone. I'm a Samsung fan. Particularly the Note series. I miss my Note 7 and took it back to the AT&T store with a heavy heart. Note 8 to the rescue. My daily driver is a Galaxy S7 Edge. I always liked the productivity features of the Note series and that is why I think I like this phone. My problem with keyboards has nothing to do with the keyboard, it's the predictive text algorithm that drives me crazy. I type similar words over and over and sometimes the predictive text is just stupid. Learn what I type already. The fact you can scroll on a physical keyboard is very cool. I'm not a business person but we do use email in the processing plant I work in. I can't think of anything that this phone can do that the upcoming Note 8 won't be able to. It's fascinating though.

    This was the first BlackBerry I didn't buy in 9 years. After watching your review, I think I made the right decision for going for the Honor 8 as I am raw media junkie and Huawei have some awesome camera tools (I still need to learn how to use one or two)

    Fantastic phone, best smartphone I've used. It make typing a long email a joy again and the battery give me a solid two days or more. It's not flagship, it's a lot better than those force feeded flagship phones of the last years.

    Your review helped me decide to get this yesterday (upgrade from iPhone 5S), and I couldn't be happier. I was a little hesitant to go from IOS to Android but I am very happy with the Keyone with its slick version of 7.1.1.
    Excellent phone, best I've used (for my preferences and uses).

    I have this phone, and I love it!!! I work as a nuclear engineer, and I depend on this phone for contacts. Good review. I never tried the PRIV, though, because that slide out keyboard looked impressive.

    Firstly, nice review. To be honest this keyboard is nothing new for BlackBerry users (BlackBerry Passport/PRIV have all the features). More shortcuts for you: on websites shift + spacebar and you are going up. R key is reader mode. Double tap is the cursor. In sms app on my PRIV I have access to emojis near send button or you can swide down keyboard to use special keys. Double tap, again cursor. Its much more, but I think its not a time to show here everything.
    For me this smartphone doesn't feel like a proper BlackBerry (different materials, not the same top notch build quality) but is a good device, definitely one to recommend. :)

    you can also just start typing to bring your phone into action. for instance, instead of using your shortcut for your mom, you can start texting, "text mom" and that would instantly start a new text thread or put you in the existing one. same goes for "email Mom", "call mom" etc.

    Thanks for the review. I learned a lot from it to enhance my use of the device beyond what I'd picked up in the couple weeks I've had it!
    What app did you use to bring up the hardware data on the device?
    Much appreciated.

    Can't wait to get my #KEYone soon! Great write up as usual! Buying for the keyboard as my Passport is broken. It has the best camera in a Blackberry ever and a huge battery for my productivity work. Currently using iPhone and I constantly have to charge my phone due to my heavy usage 😭

    Erica Griffin thank you so much for showing the emoji font! I'm glad that they stuck with default google emoji. On the hands-on/first impression videos, people pointed out that the backlight on the keyboard was uneven or dim on certain keys. Can you share if this is also the case with yours?

    Dear Erica Griffin,
    Thank you very much for your informative posting. I have a quick question.
    Between Nokia 8 & Keyone what would you choose to go for. If you are looking for a phone thats professional with a business look.
    I appreciate your honest comment.
