    The question I receive about shower steamers is. "How long does it last?" Well that totally depends on how you use it and how long you shower. Placing the shower steamer behind you in a bath tub shower may slow down the activation. For fast activation put the shower steamer directly under the water stream, or take a shorter 3 to 5 minute shower. Then put the used shower steamer on a dry wash cloth. Even if it falls apart the powder can still be used for another shower Also, for the maker, add cream of tartar or a clay and the shower steamer will last longer. Be very carful about adding oils, because falling is very dangerous and a shower is usually slippery any way, Use a bath mat.
    I do not use menthol crystals because they can detract from the essential oil shower steamers therapeutic inhalation. (Synthetic fragrance oils do not have therapeutic benefits, they are scent only) Here's why. I am a Certified Aromatherapist and the chemical constituents of essential oils in my blends are composed for many benefits and to support our immune system. For Instance: addressing relaxation and sleep, addressing stress and anxiety, addressing muscle tension and sinus headache, addressing airborne allergy, addressing lack of energy, addressing depression and grief, are only a few. Usually a 3% dilution is strong enough for inhalation in a shower depending on the essential oils. I choose certain essentials to use for safety and effectiveness and recommend certain blends for normal healthy children at different ages, pregnancy and elderly. Anyone taking medications must be aware of contraindications if taking prescription drugs and menthol can be a dangerous culprit. A light dilution is probably going to be better for a 5 to 8 minute shower. Some people are setting timers. Not for the inhalation therapy but for water conservation. Just got back from a 2 week trip to western US and it is dry and hot out there with very little snow in the Rockies so there will be a lot of water conservation coming around.
    If we consistently, use strong dilutions, we can develop scent or fragrance fatigue. We become accustomed to using certain essential oils and then we may feel we aren't getting the same effect. So the best use of expensive essential oils, is to use them in a light dilution, for a short time and switch to another combination. Good Luck in your making endeavors and be safe.

      You are making medical claims which you should not be making at all. I highly doubt that menthol inhalation in the shower will cause any interactions with any medications. Please share a source for your claim. Also there's really no difference in aromatherapy between essential oils and fragrance oils. That is, unless they are substandard.

    • @lip-skisnaturals9250
      @lip-skisnaturals9250 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SheasBathLab You know are wrong. In order to understand the chemical components of essential oils or fragrance oils you must see GCMS reports. That is the proof. Do more research. Read from "Essential oil Safety", Robert Tisserand and Rodney Young, (-)-Menthol Pages 590 - 593. and more, These are pages addressing chemical compounds. It's is not a medical claim that Fragrance oils and essential oils are made up of chemical compounds. Using caution and staying with usage rates for infants, children, elderly, compromised individuals, pregnancy and normal healthy adults is strongly advised. Urging caution and good praction is not limited to medical practices. Quotation from "Essentail Oil Safety", Tisserand and Young. Pg. 593, "Our safety advice: Menthol should be avoided at least in oral doses, by anyone with a G6PD deficiency. These people will characteristically have had abnormal blood reactions to at least one of the following drugs, or will have been advised to avoid them: antimalarials, sulfonamides, chloramphenicol, streptomycin, aspirin. Menthol-rich essential oils should possibly be avoided in cases of cardiac fibrillation and great care should be taken in regard to infants inhaling menthol."

    Hi Jerika, thank you for sharing your journey with us. It’s a brave thing being out there. When making your steamers, rather than weighing each one separately, I like to put my mix on the scale and tare it out. Then scoop however much mix into the mould. So a 2 oz shower steamer would weigh out to be a negative 2 oz on the scale. That way you don’t risk spilling ingredients if your mould topples. I also find with evaporation/drying the steamers tend to lose around 0.15-0.2 oz when fully ready. So always good to be heavy handed. Blessings to you and Cale and keep on keeping on.

    Hi J! I use the moon cake presses to make all my bath bombs. I wanted to have both flat sides to have a design, so once the shaft is filled, I use another stamp to compress the powder into the shaft and create a design on the back. It works beautifully!

    I guess the menthol. If it should not be touching the skin. How did these do with skin on your feet? Because of put behind you in the shower the run off of the water could get onto your feet. Though it skin on our feet are more callous than the rest of our body. I would think you might get a similar i guess "cooling" feeling on your feet? I guess I'd be asking if this menthol though not directly touching the skin is skin safe for this type of product?

    Can you make a shower steamer without the menthol crystals and instead use just essential oils?

    You definitely want to omit any oils. You don’t want the liability of someone slipping. My trick is making them out of a half bath bomb mold

    Hello! Maybe a fellow soap maker or bath bomb maker can help me out! I have been using a new scent of fragrance oil because the last one I used got discontinued. It is a “cake” scent for my donut bath bombs. It is turning my bath bombs brown and leaving weird spots. Does anyone know of a bakery scent fragrance oil that doesn’t contain vanillin or very little that it doesn’t discolor?

      1 part citric acid
      1 part binder (clay, corn starch, tapioca starch)
      Fragrance or essential oils

    Thank you for sharing. I instruct my customers to put theirs on a shelf or a ledge and sprinkle a little water to activate. I tell them not to put on the floor and they get 2-3 showers out of it. It’s my most repeat item. I started carrying a suction cup and a mesh bag as an add on and I can’t keep them in stock. They hang them up and tell me they get 4-5 showers that way. I certainly can get a weeks worth out of mine that way! Great video

    Getting products to market in the UK takes soooooo long as you have to send off your formulas to be assessed by a chemist. It’s also really expensive ☹️ are there any kind of regulations like that in the US or Canada?

    • @Shannon-zp6yz
      @Shannon-zp6yz 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, that is not a requirement there. I am a Canadian who lives in Germany, it was so disappointing for me to discover how difficult and expensive it is here to be able to sell :(

      Not in the U.S. Naomi, but we do have to label everything correctly or will have repercussions. And people are so sue happy here I almost wish they did do this because it would be an extra layer of protection.
