Hello, when using the cornstarch, do you also add 91% alcohol to the mixture, or do you only use it to spray the mixture to ensure it will properly clump together?
This is one of the best steamer videos that I've seen! I'd like to see the packaging video and the recipes for the others steamers for clarity, and others! You should consider Patreon if you haven't done so already! Thank you so much for sharing and for having the heart to do so!
Wow, thank you! So happy to hear this was helpful. I am working on a Shower Steamer made with menthol crystals. Super excited! Stay tuned... I appreciate your support! xo
Hi I just found you and started making bombs and steamers. Thanks for taking the time to explain and share ALL this information. How do you decide on what fragrances to use? Hubby has bad allergies and I am not well versed on essential oils. Thanks again.
Instead of a mica could I use French Green Clay? Possibly substituting FGC for the white Kaolin clay? Your thoughts? Love these your steamer videos. These are the best ones I've seen. Thank you for sharing. Look forward to hearing from you.
Love your video. Tried your steamers in the mold and took them out after they dried. The started turning white and powdered looking and porous. I sprayed with alcohol (mistake) because they activated. Do you have any idea of where I went wrong. Of course I will never spray with alcohol again. However, I did something wrong in the process. Thanks so much.
Thank you so much for doing this video. I've been considering making shower steamers and I'm ready to make them. I appreciate the simple recipe too. Diane
My daughter gets horrible headaches, do you have any suggestions for shower steamers that might work for her. Thank you so much for your videos , I love your voice and easy instructions
hi there emilie. love your vids thank you so much for the inspiration. I made the steamers and my citric acid looked like it seperated from the mixture and the rest just looked like crumbled tart lol. what went wrong pls
Emilie, I made a glorified mess out of my shower steamers. They wouldn't hold together at all, no matter how wet or dry... anyway, I was wondering if I can take that mix ( your recipe ) and use it as foaming bath powders. There isn't any EO in them, only FO.
I have made two batches if these and the first batch didn’t have a string enough scent so I made a second batch with double the eucalyptus oil. However, when I used it I could not smell it in my shower STILL. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. Any suggestions?
Tracey's Body Treats me too! I almost thought that I was going to have to use the whole bottle of eucalyptus but I felt It never really opened up my nasal passages and it was a slight subtle smell .
Thank you for the headache bath bomb suggestion! I add Epsom salt to my bath bombs, but not to my shower steamers. The Epsom salt is wonderful if it can be absorbed into the skin (in the bath), I don't feel it is helpful is a Shower Steamer because it is not absorbed into the skin. Here is a link for a Bath Bomb tutorial. th-cam.com/video/JoXOq8Ad34A/w-d-xo.html Hope this helps! xo
Can you PLEASE share the exact link to the mold, I have been searching the website, and there are tons of molds, I can't find the clear one you used in the video :(
I’ve only tried using menthol one time, however, it is actually a tutorial I have planned in the coming months! I’ll let you know as soon as I figure any tips out. Stay tuned!
I melt the menthol in the alcohol overnight and pour the amount of alcohol needed in the recipe and it works great. Not exact amount but put in 1 ounce spray bottle and add menthol crystals to the bottle. As many as I can fit and pour alcohol in. Shake and let it sit overnight.
A much easier and better and cheaper recipe that lasts 15 mins is a ratio of 3 to 1 baking soda to citric acid.....nothing else is needed..no clay or polysorbate since they are only to go in a shower....you do not want these in a bath.....water is the binder...you can easily add color and fragrance of course....mixing for 4 mins is just a waste of energy....all one needs is a bowl and a whisk and I personally use a spray bottle of water...they go rock hard as well.
It’s very similar to a bath bomb, so if you are comfortable using those then you should be fine. However, it’s not really great for vagina health to use bubble bath or bath bombs, purely because it can disrupt the ph balance. I always use just water around sensitive parts but manny don’t, it’s kind of a personal thing, you will know what your vagina will and will not like.
Excellent question! I have only ever made these with 91% alcohol. I like using the 91% because more of it evaporates out of the steamer giving me a harder steamer and a longer fizz. If you try using the 70% let me know how it works. Hope this helps😘

Great question! I have only ever used the 91% because so much evaporates out of it, giving you a harder and longer lasting shower steamer. I must say, if I had access to the 99%, I would definitely use it! I would recommend the 99% over the 70%. Hope this helps. Happy crafting my friend!
Hmm...I have a few suggestions. You could try placing the steamer closer to you in the shower if possible (in a soap tray, or in a mesh bag around the faucet), you can add more fragrance to the steamer recipe (make sure you keep the liquid portion of the recipe the same - whatever extra fragrance you add, subtract that amount from the amount of Alcohol you add), or you can place the steamer in a bowl of hot water and do a facial steam (BE CAREFUL the water is not too hot and fragrance is not too strong!). Hope this helps!
I’m actually not selling anything on Etsy, I decided to share my recipe and instructions. Please let me know if you have any other questions! Thank you for watching! ❤️😘
I choose to use alcohol over water because water makes the mixture start to activate while you are mixing them. By using alcohol the mixture doesn’t start to activate as much. The alcohol also evaporates out leaving you with a harder shower steamer. Hope this helps!
This is the most informative and to the point process I've seen.
I find corn starch to work just as well for the hardening process as the clay. Corn starch is used as a hardener in a lot of clay-like crafts.
Good to know, thank you for sharing!
Me too and it’s easier to access
However, many people have corn allergies
cream of tartar is also a fabulous hardener

So these are nice and firm to sell yes? My first batch corn starch n vicks was mudhy
Will you make the head ache steamer video please
Hi. Does it matter about the percentage of alcohol? I have lots of 70% alcohol… I just want to use what I have..
Oh I could so use this right now with sinus acting up - I feel like I have a pillow stuffed up my nose lol. TFS
Ugh! Not fun! Let me know if you try this out. Thank you for watching! :)
Can I use silicone molds?
Do you use menthol at all for your shower steamers? And do you use them strictly for showers or can someone use it in the bath?
Why do you use rubbing alcohol as opposed to witch hazel?
Hey there! Could you use 70% rubbing alcohol? :)
Good idea :)
Thanks! xo
Thanks
I desperately need the headache bath bomb. Thank you!! Also can Epsom salt be added to the bombs?

Hi hunni, if using essential oils instead of fragrance oils, do I just use 1oz of apricot kernal carrier oil? x
Hi again. I’m from Australia just trying to work out what you Molds are called and hopefully I can find something similar here 🥰
I don’t have kaolin clay, could using bentonite clay instead of kaolin clay do the same thing since it’s for hardening purpose?
I was wondering the same thing
If you don’t have alcohol or witch hazel is it ok to use water?
Can you PLEASE share the exact link to the mold, I have been searching the website, and there are tons of molds, I can't find the clear one you used in the video :(
Please show how you package. Thank you.
She show packaging in the video. Don't think you need a separate video on how to add a steamer to a bag and add washi tape!
Thank you for letting me know! 😘
How would you add Menthol Crystals And how much
Can I use 70% alcohol?
Thank you for sharing Emilie! I’d like to add menthol crystals, do you have any suggestions at what rate?

OMG THS IS AMAZING DID U DO THE ONE FOR HEADACHES? ME AND MY GIRLS ALL SUFFER FROM HEADACHES AND MIGRANES. MUCH LOVE FROM MINES TO URS 💙💙💙
how many does these make>
I tried to use your recipe with moon cakes and i had some expand and some that stayed molded. Any idea on what I did wrong?!? Should I cover them?
It might be too humid/too much liquid, i had to literally dry mine with a fan because i live in a very humid place.
If love to see you other shower bomb recipes....plesae
doesn't it make the bath tub/shower floor slippery while its melting??
Can I use poly 20? 😬 I ordered the wrong one! Lmao
If placed in a bath is this vulva friendly?

How important is the “91%” alcohol? Can it be 70%?

Is 91% Rubbing alcohol an absolute must? I'm having hard time finding it. I can only find 70% and 99%.
