  • I posted a graphic a few weeks ago about California’s new reproductive loss law and wanted to follow up with a video.
Because the main feedback I got was how even though this is a huge step forward, it is still nowhere close to enough.
We all deserve so much better, especially when you think about how many women this affects every day.
1 in 4 pregnancies end in loss and that’s just the start… reproductive loss can also extend to individuals experiencing failed adoption, failed surrogacy, stillbirths, and unsuccessful assisted reproduction.
And you would think since this affects so many people, there would be more support and help available for those experiencing it.
If you do find yourself in this situation, know that my heart goes out to you and I’m here to help however I can.
As far as utilizing this new law, there are a few criteria for you to be eligible.
Your company must have more than 5 employees and you must have worked at your job for more than 30 days before taking leave. You can take up to 5 unpaid days off within three months of your reproductive loss either consecutively or non-consecutively.
You don’t need to show any “proof” or medical documentation… so don’t let your employer tell you otherwise.
So while you deserve so much more, hopefully this can help you find even the smallest bit of time to focus on yourself and begin to process your loss.
Hopefully the future can be safer and healthier place for women, with more support and understanding in the workplace. I trust that we will get there.
In the meantime, I’ll always share what is available for you so that you can take the time off that you deserve.
Sending love to anyone reading this. ❤️

1 out of 8 and 25% are very different ratios.. either way bereavement time should be a given
