    Mirrorless? Hell I’m selling my Sony FX9 for the C400. It is everything I need and dreamt of in an extremely compact body. This is the closest you come to an Arri Mini LF for the common man.

      Canon says 16 stops, but we know manufacturers tell tall tales . Arri mini LF is 13-15 stops. If you get 12-14 stops on the C400, you definitely have an Alexa mini equivalent without the in camera log C3.

      @@TheSpiritawake Yes, claimed stops and usable stops are two different thing. Remember when RED claimed 20 stops of DR, but 7 of those stops weren’t usable at the end of the day.
      I believe the C400 will be more than enough for my type of work, even if it’s 13-14ish. My FX9 produces an amazing image with plenty of DR. But is is flawed in so many other ways.

  • @Sodacake

    I believe the 32-bit float implementation would be a hardware issue based on the internal preamps - it's why Panasonic had to release a new audio module with the GH7 as they couldn't incorporate it into the camera itself. So in the case of the C400 I'm not sure it could be included in a firmware update.
    I'm happy to be corrected if someone else has more info.

    • @HuFilms
      @HuFilms  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, kind of naive of me to think it could be added in a firmware update. Definitely something the'd have in it from the start if at all possible,

    • @pragmaticfilmmaking

      I considered this but then had to ask myself how Rode and DJI managed to include 32-bit technology in their compact wireless mics?

    • @TheSpiritawake
      @TheSpiritawake หลายเดือนก่อน

      Is firmware not hardware, it’s digital. Most recorders work in a 32 bit space to begin with, but store in a 24 bit codec. A firmware upgrade can store in 32 bit. That however destroys 70% of the market, especially live and broadcasters. Well unless the 32 bit is an option. Most Filmmakers and creators have short turnaround times and don’t need anything raw.

    You know the funny thing is I've been watching your channel since I bought the R5C and last month I ended up picking up the C70 for my second cam. It was a really hard decision that I had to roll the dice on. I only had 2,000 bucks to spend but after I brought the R6 Mark II home I realize I did not want to spend $2,000 bucks on a camera I didn't love. Now I have a C70 and an R5C and I am still in the beginning stages of getting used to the C70. I can say the battery life alone has made me fall in love. However not having a full frame sensor in 2024 wasn't a great idea for me to purchase.

    As a new R5 C owner (yeah, late adopter) … I’d miss the hybrid capability and the 8K resolution (downsampled); however, built in ND’s, better autofocus, dynamic range, and triple base ISO … kind of tempting, but I think it’s kind of pricey.

    • @HuFilms
      @HuFilms  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Yeah, I'm the same. I just love hybrid photo / video cameras in the small form factor. I could probably run my business for another few years with the R5C but this camera has so much to offer, it's kind of a no-brainer!

    • @mahutaproductions8498

      That's why my R5C will become the B-Cam. It's going to be perfect at that, keep it around for stills and whenever I need a second angle or a smaller camera. I understand if you just jumped into it, that is probably not something you were considering for now, and that's ok! Now if only they would give us C-log2 on the R5C so we can match these two without having to use C-log3...

    @ErisedMediaCo 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    32-bit float could not be added in firmware because you’d need to have two physical A-D converters… one for the high amplitude (Loud stuff) and one for the low amplitude (quiet stuff). It’s like trying to add DGO after the fact. That’s down to the sensor itself. But… you could add support for the camera to understand 32-bit float files. Wouldn’t really help if you can’t get the audio in that way unless they did it through the USB-C port some how.

      @@HuFilms I looked it up on B&H here in the US where the specification sheet says the “effective” resolution is 19MP at 6008 x 3170. So the sensor wafer may be 4300 pixels tall, but Canon have limited the number of pixels supported by the triple-base ISO circuitry. Adding the intermediate (3200) ISO option will likely be this camera’s super power for a long time to come. I will be shocked if any other manufacturer accomplishes the same any time soon-if ever.

    @camcamwatt 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    This comment section is mostly “video” shooters it seems not production filmmakers or cinematographers
    You can’t compare DSLr / Mirror less cameras to cinema cameras.
    When you have a 1st and 2nd AC - Multi dialog channels / sound techs and cinema glass you need this type of form factor. This isn’t a videographer camera. It’s a production camera. :) 😊

    • @HuFilms
      @HuFilms  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      OK, so the C400 isn't aimed at videographers then. Gotcha 👍

    • @KatieandVin
      @KatieandVin 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'd say this is squarely aimed at the solo/run and gun/lower budget shooters. The RF mount, AF, and 12,800 base ISO are huge tools for run and gun and low budget shooting. If you have budget for 1st and 2nd ACs then you have a gaffer and a lighting package and there are other cameras that will get you a much better image. It's weird that you are simultaneously talking down to "video" shooters so pretentiously yet thinking that this camera is good enough to bring on a high budget production.
      Very cool camera for the person who needs it.

    • @camcamwatt
      @camcamwatt หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@HuFilms correct - I mean look at the commercial canon paid for “scary good” that was full on production. The “video” market that will buy this will be operators that are leveling up their one man band video business and picking up larger budget clients / work where they will run in small teams. AKA production. They’ll have crews of 2-6 pax on set and their will be talent to direct be it client interviews, documentary style content or a small movie :)

    • @camcamwatt
      @camcamwatt หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@KatieandVin I’m not talking down to anyone bud. I’m simply pointing out the mixed up worlds of production and video work. And I don’t agree with your comment at all. Why would lower budget shooters buy a $10k camera brain that still needs alot of accessories. When you invest in a cinema camera it’s a $50k exercise ++ what low budget shooters are going to bust $50k to do $1000/$2000 videos. It would take a year to make back just the cost of the camera, lens, new tripod to hold the heavier camera, monitors, case to carry it all. Plus it’s heavy and bulky AF
      The industry is changing fast. Heavy bulky crews are becoming a thing of the past. Small powerful nimble teams are what works now on jobs $20k-$100k
      And I’m curious about your comment on the image of this camera - because unless you have owned one already or shot one how do you know about the image , TH-cam compression is rubbish. Until you have actually tested it yourself your comment makes no sense and it’s an assumption. And further more - what cinema camera at this price point comes close? Genuinely interested- the options are very small.. FX6 ? Komodo X ? People dismiss canon Raw cause they fan girl out on R3D but they -a) don’t own either camera system and b) don’t even shoot raw half the time they are stuck in XFAXC lol
