Got this laptop in 2018 after watching this video. i7, 256gb m.2+2tb and 1050 ti. Still works like a charm! Cyberpunk is the hardest game so far, but it runs pretty stable at about 30 fps. Yesterday i upgraded the SSD to a 1tb. 1050 ti is enough for most games at 1080p 60fps.

Just 2 days back got this laptop, the intel i7 model and frankly i'm telling you, I am in love. I played watch dogs 2, battlefield 1, mass effect andromeda, mafia 3 and they all ran extremely smooth at ultra with solid 60 fps. I didn't except it to perform this well. If anyone is thinking to buy a laptop in this price range you can then totally go for it because its easily way better then Dell 7567 and Acer VX15. Good luck!

Lithium gets damaged . It doesnt get overcharged but as u use it as soon as it hits 100% it will slow down and then you go back to 99 then 100 and in this cycle even Lithium Dies
Rysty the misconception that if you use a laptop while charging the laptop it ruins the battery life but in reality no matter what you do the battery will break in a couple of years.

Please be sure to include a comprehensive display and keyboard comparison in the video you mentioned. That I think would ultimately be the deciding factor as that is what one notices in day to day usage, given that all 4 (Lenovo Y520, Hp Omen 15(2017), Dell 7567, Acer VX15) share similar specs.
Still using this laptop. I upgraded the wifi card today to the AX210 and I'm getting nearly 60% higher download speeds. The screen frame is broken, but it's still usable. I'm content with it ☺️

Quality vid as always Dave - thanks! This is old topic but I'd like to have more info: Lenovo has cleaned themselves up totally these days? No more spyware bloat? Lenovo totally lost my trust over that fiasco and I have stayed away since then. Have they learned their lesson? I hope so as there are some Lenovo products I'd like to investigate again but won't unless I feel a higher level of trust in the transparency of their products...Of course I can research online, but I'm interested to hear your thoughts [the the thoughts of other viewers here].

I recently got this laptop, it has an i7 7700HQ, and A 6GB GTX 1060 With Max-Q design, I love it so much! I can run GTA V at a consistent 56-65 FPS, with the lowest dip at 48 FPS.

Just got it yesterday! Played pubg on it and it runs extremely well on ultra! Doesnt heat up, fans works very nicely.
@LLJ#GAMINGLLJ Not hot at all on high. I dont have a device to see the temperature but I often place my hand under it to see how hot it is and it's all cold on the left side and its slightly hotter on the right when I have played for some hours but its nothing at all.
The extreme cooler is a little loud but it doesnt bother me nobody pays attention to it when they are around. The extreme cooler is also very quick to cool it down.
Nothing failed yet my only dissapointment is the storage is already full and I cant download more games without a USB or extra storage. I only have 3/4 games on it.

Here is my own experience:
After watching reviews on your channel I was between buying this and dell 7567, the store didn't have dell so I ended up buying y520 laptop. I bought the laptop 6 months ago. This is my first laptop after using desktop for years (15 years). I was fed up with the lie about upgrading components on desktops. You cannot upgrade anything that is worth the money if you are not selling the old components for good price and constantly upgrading everything. Also desktops are clumsy, heavy and cannot be easily carried.
The laptop config I have bought:
i7 7700
GTX 1050 (not ti, store didnt have any ti version)
16GB RAM
SSD 240GB
HDD 1TB
This laptop is a beast. It stayed on for days, It was used to play very demanding game ESO with highest settings except a few unnecessary light rays or etc. Fans get loud but most players use headphones. Numpad layout was very different than what I was used to, I didnt pay any attention to that, It feels very awkward but you get used to it and it is even better. Delete and backspace is very close, I dont know why arrow keys are this large if anyone ever uses them they can be good for them.
Laptop screen is very dim, it is a good thing for eye health, and I am using it at 50% brightness. Laptop is heavy but you cannot find a good performance laptop that is not heavy. It is simply not possible. There was NO termal issue even in very hot summer days with heavy usage.
I installed my simulation programs like Matlab in the SSD, they open and compile very fast. SSD is really good, computer boots up in a matter of a few seconds. I have used the computer for 6 months, installed numerous games, programs and stuff and it still boots up as fast as 6 months ago.
I dont know about VR but by the time anything decent comes in VR we will be replacing our computers. Also gtx 1050 on laptops is as good as they are on desktops. D2D did an excellent job on reviewing them. IF this computer is on sale, you can definitely buy it if you want to replace your computer. We are past the era when we could just upgrade our computers, there is not such a thing remains except boosting your computer with an SSD, larger HDD or adding more RAM. All other components which are more crucial for the general computer health cannot be replaced both in laptops and desktops. (I have replaced my gtx 260 with 770, performance was not very different because motherboard, processor and everything was old and eventually my new GPU died in less than 2 years because of old components inside the case.)

I love your videos Dave! You have slick transitions and amazing, in-depth content. Hope you get a chance to review the Lenovo Yoga 720.
I wonder what laptop would be the best for me - Im doing digital painting, vector graphics and 3D + some gaming (I would like to run games like witcher 3 on it, quite smoothly on medium-low details). So ram needs to be 8gb at least (but I'd prefer 16gb or 8gb with free ram slot to upgrade it later), some quite powerfull processor and a GPU good enough to run games well (Nvidia because for some reason I really don't like AMD).
My budget is about 750-900$
I was thinking about Lenovo Y700 (Intel Core i5-6300HQ, 2.3 to 3.2 GHz, 16gb ram, GeForce GTX960M); MSI GL62 6QE (same, but with GTX950M which also have a little less gpu ram) & HP OMEN (again, same except GTX960M with only 2gb of gpu ram).
Main plus of lenovo for me is that it have more powerfull gpu, and good looks (I like metal) - but Im afraid about the anti-glare foil on it. Heard it's not good for color accuracy and I know you can take the foil off but I don't really wan't to tinker with it myself..
I'd love to get this beast (the one the review is about), but here in Poland it's price is way higher :T And I won't order it from amazon or anything, because Im afraid of buying expensive stuff like this and having it delivered. What if something happens on the way? Too much trouble and stress for me.
And before you say "laptops aren't made for games/graphics" (because I see this a lot) - I already have really good desktop PC, just need something that's quite good to work and play on the go and won't be harshly outdated in 2 years or so.
Wait for Dave's video about the comparison between the 4 laptops that he mentioned. They provide a better price-performance than the laptops you mentioned and since I have the gtx860m with 4gb ddr5 ,I cant tell you that the 960m is not very different.There are a lot of games in which they compare 860 and 960 you get a very slight (2-5) fps increase .I suggest buying any of these laptops since they wont be outdated soon because the gtx 1050ti is rather new and powerful. But if you are going to work in color related works , you may want to replace the screen.
And I also suggest going for 16 gb of ram minimum since 3d softwares like maya,max etc tend to use a lot of ram and processing power.

I know graphics cards are kinda old in those, but because I won't be doing that heavy gaming on it (especially since I still have my desktop that usually runs everything on high or ultra) and other tasks don't really require that powerfull GPU I don't know if I should pay much attention to it.. It all comes down to price to performance ratio I guess.

Im not doing any work for printing so colors aren't THAT crucial but yeah I'll probably end up replacing the screen anyway... To bad they technically have IPS but the color accuracy is smh still kinda bad.

For anyone interested, I ended up going for Acer VX15 - a bit more pricey than the options I mentioned before but with a bit more powerfull processor (2,8-3,8ghz) and gtx1050. It's really good, I like it, but if you're not someone who needs IPS display, I'd personally go for Dell Inspiron. Same price, but longer battery life (in acer it isn't bad, but still, dell is better here) and from what I've seen, dell's build quality is nicer. Acer is good and sturdy (for a plastic), but dell seems more elegant and just have more premium feel overall (might be just a matter of personal taste).
But it doesn't have an ips panel and color accuracy is worse (still good for gaming, but not so much for doing art) so it was a deal breaker for me.
ALSO FOR THE LOVE OF GOD GET A SSD. I didn't have the option to get one with ssd, so mine only have hdd, and it's really slooow sometimes. I don't notice it while gaming, working or watching stuff, but oh my god it can sometimes freeze for a sec while copying documents or stuff like that and that's just frustrating.

American tuturuu good at gaming, no problems with keyboard. The screen hinge is a lillte flimsy. Dell Inspiron 7577 has a better buitd but it's more expensive for the same specs and has very small 'Up' and 'Down' keys. So I opted for the Lenovo. My variant has a 1060, i7, 256 GB ssd, 1tb HDD.

I own one, had it for about a month or two, VERY happy I bought it. Starts up pretty fast, runs program very snappy, I play GW2 on max settings and no hiccups. And yes it looks better on an external monitor.

I've had the laptop for about 5 months at this point. No real issues, although some keys are a bit squeaky. Might just be dust that got underneath the keys, though.

Dave Lee Thanks for this review! I know this is a year old but I was shopping around Costco the other day and ran into a Lenovo Y250 laptop. I decided to go with this based off a few reviews but your review helped the most! I got a newer version I think? still a y250 with i7 7700hq 16gb ram & 1060 with 6gb of VRAM all for $850 I was blown away! Put that puppy right in the cart lol! The sales guy said they are discontinuing the y250 in stores and this was the last of them glad I got a decent sale on this! Cheapest 1060 laptop I think I will ever find! This thing rips! So thanks again for the review! The Costco website shows 949.99 but in the store was a sale and walked away a lot cheaper!

@@akari_4898 I would see if Costco still has the y250 for $899 I have the one with 16 gigs of ram i7 7700hq and the 1060 6gb vram most other models I see come with the 1050ti and my bare minimum requirements was to at least have 1060. So far so good battlefield v plays like a charm even can run it on 1440p med to high settings no problem on my external 27" monitor, don't get a laptop with a 1050ti that my personal thoughts, You will literally double your performance going from a 1050ti to 1060
I'm sure it has better specs than a MacBook, but in comparison I'd buy a MacBook because of the build quality, because the build quality on this huge thing looks very cheap and odd...

Apple Apple Macbooks are also 2,000 dollars more. You can get some very nice laptops with build quality almost on par with Macbooks with better specs, and still be 400-800 dollars cheaper. But I have to admit, if you want build quality solely, Macbooks are the best.
The Macbook is for a different type of user, and if you want build quality comparable to a Macbook, you're probably going to spend more than $850.
