Karen is my spirit animal. I don't play competitively. I don't focus on hazards or priorities, but instead I give my team diverse movesets to help them take on any type I come across.
If the Pokémon is fun to raise, I'll use it. Stats be damned.

i remember replaying through hgss and karens umbreon had synchronized paralysis onto my ampharos and then confused it and started double teaming. i almost cried because i had to forfeit. she's absolutely amazing and i don't hate her at all, she's just so overpowered
lesson learnt: don't paralyze the umbreon

My favourtieElite four is Karen. Sometimes her team is hard to defeat but I like what she says when you defeat her.

Recommendation: get at least 1 grass and 1 dark type, also try to get a Pokémon that can learn embargo because it will help a lot

This Elite Four is abnormally easy. The problem is that HGSS has no good grinding spots before the Elite Four, and if it did, there's no doubt that its Elite Four wouldn't be the laughing stock of the series.
So fighting a FORRETRESS while it sets up toxic spikes in a JOHTO game is easy and also dealing with a double team spamming crobat while you are poisoned and pray to god that you hit because you die was easy??
Also Machamp with Cross chop and Rock slide a hitmonlee with a NUKE High jump kick was easy???!!
Heck even that Houndoom puts up a fight with flamethrower and DARK PULSE while it moves first because your team is slow as heck was easy???!!
This e4 is stacked for me

Will was harder for me to deal with than Karen
For me, it's a tie between Will and Bruno, cause I have a thing for Psychic types as well as Fighting
I love Karen's philosophy becase I always thought the same since I was a kid, I just like to win the game with a team full of cute mythical/legendaries pokemons like Shaymin, Manaphy, Celebi and Jirachi or a team full of Eeveelutions.
As a kid I would put cheats to find them on the wild and raise them normally like any other pokemon and win the league.
1. Will’s Pokémon: Xatu, Exeggutor, Jynx, Slowbro and Xatu
2. Koga’s Pokémon: Ariados, Forretress, Muk, Crobat and Venomoth
3. Bruno’s Pokémon: Hitmontop, Hitmonchan, Onix, Machamp and Hitmonlee
4. Karen’s Pokémon: Umbreon, Murkrow, Houndoom, Gengar and Vileplume
Umbreon was so bulky
Will’s the only one who had a team that was actually all Psychic types, the type he specialized in.
Koga’s a poison specialist, yet has a Forretress.
Bruno’s a fighting specialist, yet has an Onix.
Karen’s a Dark specialist yet has a Gengar and a Vileplume
@@gymleaderhasan I think the underlying theme of Karen's team is not just that she has Dark Pokémon, but also that she has Pokémon that only come out at night. In the Johto games, Dark Pokémon could only be found at night. So could Gastly and Haunter, and so could Oddish and Gloom.
Just to be speaking the truth about Gold/Silver/Crystal even for the remakes HeartGold/SoulSilver, Nintendo team production were being too lazy to give the particular type for the Elite Four.
1. Will originally supposed to have Espeon(as a deadly beast)
2. Karen originally supposed to have Tyranitar(as a powerful and the deadliest beast)

@@antonitocotter447 Nah I haven’t even picked it since completing the game haha. Mind you this was my second time playing through SoulSilver since I decided to restart after transferring my first team Pokémon over to the new games. I hadn’t realised it’s been so long since I last picked it up haha
Karen’s Umbreon is a great waller of attacks, especially being 15 levels lower than your Meganium.
Karen is my favorite Elite Four member that i beat the most. Her quote when i beat her tells me what it means to be a true pokemon trainer.

I love karen change her outfit and hair color, it's funky and cool. But idk, her little black dress in GBA gold/silver/crystal was more representative for Dark-type elite 4
love this games but the level of this elite 4.. underwhelming, I had chosen some strategies more complex like its predecessors: DPP
For example:
WILL: Girafarig, Espeon, Xatu, Wobbuffet and his ace: Slowking. Just give him Johto based Pokémon with different movepools and strategies to fight.
KOGA: Venomoth, Muk, Qwilfish, Weezing and his ace: Crobat. The addition of Qwilfish could be very iconic and remembered forever as the spiker of his team.
BRUNO: Hitmontop, Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan, Heracross and his ace: Machamp. The classic team for Bruno with a little twist with Heracross to defeat those psychics, let's be honest, Steelix is dead as soon as it touches the field, a misfortune they only gave him AN ONIX. Why a pre evolution if you just battled Jasmine's Steelix.
KAREN: Sneasel, Murkrow, Umbreon, Houndoom and her ace: Tyranitar. A more consistent team with the actual pseudo legendary of the region who might defeat the champion's team.
This not only could have brought some fresh Pokemon, but harder strategies and a well remembered elite.

In my Pokémon gold play through, Will was a pushover, in fact, all of them apart from Karen and Koga were trash.
Lance was the real challenge I had to rematch him but between those attempts I got a Lapras with ice beam so then Lance was maybe easier than Diantha
Edit: I crushed Koga’s Ariados and his Forretress so he was trash as well

Ill be honest, i find it kinda strange that will has all of his pokemon be female. In the original gold and silver, all of his pokemon but jynx (due to gender ratio) were all males. Why they decided to go forth with making all of his pokemon female in the remakes? I dont know. They even did it in his rematch teams.
