    These include understanding the difference between vector and raster file formats, as well as lossy and lossless file formats.
    With there being so many different formats to choose from knowing which one is right for your situation isn't always easy. Knowledge is definitely power when it comes to exporting files for clients, so hopefully this video will be helpful.

    I think it was a great educational and informative video, though maybe you could have added some images and examples to show the differences between those file formats, but no complaints!
    Good job and I got value out of this, thank you! :)

    I didn't think it was a bit dry. I watched the whole thing. I always wondered and didn't really totally understand EPS files. I actually didn't understand gif. or png either. What was very helpful is your explanation of how a jpeg can reside inside of a vector file. That was pretty awesome. Thanks for putting this up I have a way better grip on file formats now.

    • @MattBorchert
      @MattBorchert  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Awesome, thank you! .eps is super common as a middle ground format for all things vector, but RAW is so specialized to photography if that isn't your world, you're unlikely to have dealt with it. That being said editing photos from RAW is fun. :)

    • @MattBorchert
      @MattBorchert  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When I made this video I was using a USB AT2020. Fairly cheap microphone all things considered! Generally I just remove background nose and then equalize the volume inside Adobe Audition.
      I'm currently using a Shure SM7B.

    • @MattBorchert

      .ai and .eps are the two most common. Perhaps .svg, depends on what you're trying to do.

    I'm a small business owner with zero experience in design and print. But, for financial reasons I'm forced to make my own product labels, business cards ect. What's the best format and the best app for me to use? All these products have to be printed and occasionally resized. Do I need to pay for things like Adobe pro, or do I actually need Adobe photoshop? Also which is best for basic design Canva or Avery? Thank you

    • @MattBorchert
      @MattBorchert  ปีที่แล้ว

      Something like Canva is great for basic design needs. Adobe products are aimed at professional markets.

    Thanks for sharing! Quick question though that I haven’t been able to find a clear answer on. For the purposes of saving composited photos from photoshop while keeping my layers intact, Is there any difference between saving the file as a TIFF or a PSD?

    • @MattBorchert
      @MattBorchert  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      PSD is Photoshop's native file format, so it will be best if you intend to use what you're doing primarily inside Photoshop. Also you can save the same file in TIFF and PSD and see which file size is better.
