Just a Car Guy we had to add a few more minor adjustments to the car, like dremelling the plastic and whatnot. I own a 2014 Lancer so it was kind of different
I have a 2013 outlander sport. The speakers are virtually the same as the lancer. I'm gonna follow your steps. They were clean n less destructive. Great video by the way. Greetings from jakarta, indonesia
I ordered all my stuff from crutchfield. I still had to cut the old speaker out and use the plastic but I don't have clips. I just used super glue gel. I hope it holds! Thanks for the video
@@HippyMetalhead the speakers work great but the mounting bracket did not fit. I had to cut out the original speakers and use the plastic to mount the new.
Canadian Tire, so your a fellow Canadian I see. I'm going to attempt this soon, I got 4 Infinity reference 6502ix used for very cheap I want to install. Crutchfield's website says these are not going to fit, so I am concerned, but maybe that's just compared to the mounting brackets they sell. But they are a little thick I feel their magnet will jolt out more then the speakers you got. But only one way to find out, it will just suck if I got the old paper speaker and I can't get the new ones to work to have a speaker missing....
I just got sick of playing with the factory crap. I have mdf 30mm spacers and i made up studs for when i drill into the door, but i just couldnt drill the car in the end, pathetic maybe. In the end i found these (stingeraustralia.com.au/product/bnspmi652/) and ill be picking them up tomorrow, hopefully they work.
Damn, that was a lot of work for 1 speaker! Good video though, thanks bro! I have a 16 lancer GT that I might do some upgrades on, this video will be helpful.
Yeah it definitely took a while but I really didn't want to have to find speaker adaptors! No problem hope you enjoy the car. I've done way more to mine since this video, if you're on Instagram check out @projectmitsu :D
Need help pls!!! Two days ago I purchased a Dasiata Android 8.1 GPS/radio/Bluetooth.. Now when hooked up the new system I get no sound what's so ever everything works but no sound.. So I tried to hook up the stock radio back to see if I would get a any sound but now the stock radio doesn't even power on guys I'm pulling my hair out here like what the f*** is going on?? @@Island.Ventures hey, thanks for reaching back. Ya quadrupled checked all the connections.. The problem is my car we tested the new unit on separate speakers and it worked so now looking for a needle in a haystack.. Cloud you imagine if I have to check all the wiring in the car?? I'll set the dam thing on fire b4 doing that
@@Island.Ventures so I finally figured the problem out it was a blown amplifier that wasn't giving sound so I disconnected the amplifier and jumped the power to speakers everything works well but thanks for the help
Doesn't matter too much, any speaker is going to be limited to the power that the factory radio puts out. And pretty well anything will sound better than stock!
so did putting aftermarket speakers without installing an amplifier sound better than the stock rockford speakers? im interested in doing this myself without an amp, is it louder and have more bass?
My car had the base radio so my stock speakers were much worse than the Rockford system! If I had the Rockford speakers I probably would have left them in. As for the bass, I'm sure they do have much more bass but I have an aftermarket touch screen stereo and I have the settings done so that no bass plays through the speakers so I don't blow them. I have 2 10" JL Audio subs in the trunk for bass :)
My new speakers are definitely louder and sound better than my stock paper cone speakers that's for sure. Not sure how they would compare to the Rockford speakers!
+The Auto Enthusiast oh awesome, i thought all lancers had rockford speakers, must only be the ralliarts and evos that have em, i have a 09 lancer vr (australian model) which is one stage up from the base model and it has the 6 cd stacker, i suppose my car would have the same speakers you pulled out of your car, was there much difference from your stock speakers to your new ones? are you running them straight or with an amp?
+kisylluf I believe the GT model has the system as well! Yes big difference in sound for sure! I just wired them right up the the existing door wiring, no amp for the speakers.
Why didn't you use the original white connector that came with the car? You could have soldered the end wires to the modified frame of the speakers. I'm in the middle of the same process with the same car 😎
@@Island.Ventures I get it. 👍 One more thing....The yellow wire is NOT the positive one, the green is. Are you sure you have enough bass inside the car? I tried as you said with my 4 Hertz Cento speakers but there was hardly any bass in the car . As soon as I changed the polarity to all speakers, yellow beging the negative, everything changed dramaticaly, I have really deep bass now. If you could provide a link to where you found this info, I'd be grateful. On the other hand, your way of installing the speakers is the ONLY way possible, I did exactly as you did and I thank you for it! My Lancer is black 😅
Hi there! So I went ahead and installed kickers into the car, I ended up drilling holes into the side panel of the door, but everything worked out perfectly, thanks! Did you happen to install an amplifier with this as well?
Did your speaker sound staticky after? Mind did for some reason. I bought Rockford Fosgate speakers too. Idk if it’s the speakers or if i did something wrong for it to sound bad lol.
So I bought scosche speaker spacer install kits for doing my 2014 Lancer SE, would using these be a little easier than hacking up the factory speakers? I'm just hoping the space is enough. Only negative to using these I can think of is drilling holes in the sheet metal of the door, but that's no big deal. Great video!
Yeah I would have liked to use those but the only adapter things I could find were $50 for 2 which is more than I paid for my new speakers lol.. that's why I decided to just cut mine up and use the existing bracket. Hope it works out for you and thanks!
@@purebreadbuck6851 so do you think just buying the spacers is more straight forward than just cutting up the factory ones? I really appreciate the quick response

wouldnt it just be quicker just to cut some rings outve mdf ? and just screw them onto the panel ?
