This comment section is toxic as hell. The B58 is the better engine for daily driving. The S58 has no useable low end torque, is a mpg pig, and its a much rougher ride. A track SUV (to me) doesn't make much sense as its the worse of all worlds. That is where the M40i shines in that its still comfortable, you have low end torque, and with just a downpipe and tune you have +100hp reliably and can compete with stock X3MCs. Yes the S58 is a much more tuner friendly platform if you want to crank crazy numbers... nobody is saying buy the m340i over the m3 if you want a serious track car.... but if you want a practical vehicle that is faster than 98% of things on the road with just two mods... is it not a no brainer?? I test drove an X3MC and had my heart on one as it has a gorgeous interior and its aesthetically set up beautifully. I was in rush hour traffic and did a few pulls and burned an eighth of a tank while my lower back and hands were sore after driving. At some point you need to look at the value of things... for 20-40k less (depending on currency) you get an award winning engine (b58) that can be tuned to easily make X3MC speed without having to worry about being TRACK READY... because none of you driving these things are tracking SUVs. Its essentially all city and highway pulls. Either way, glad the X3M's exist but in my opinion the perfect combo is an X3 M40i (stage 2) + a weekend track car (m1/2/3).
Having had both, I think you can argue either or. No non M will ever have the fundamental drive feel or precision of an M. You have to decide if is worth it to you. Both are great but inherently night and day.
I have both 2024 X3M40i in black sapphire and 2024 X3M in Alpine White with all Competition hardware (M performance seats in black Merino leather, active sport exhaust and 21 inch forged M wheels), and no factory tune for 30 hp. , executive package with deleted pan roof. Hard to find one of those. Had a great deal and could not pass it. Booth are great SAVs, but X3M is just exceptional and feels like a sports car.

But it handles much better - not that the x3m40 was bad, it’s just different/better and obviously faster. I love it. If you’re going to do a lot of city driving with rough roads - you’re going to feel it in the competition. They are both great cars.
I'm thinking the X3 M40i is the overall winner. You can make X3M power and still get over 32MPG on the freeway and over 500 miles to a tank of gas. The X3M gets 19mpg, a lot worse, but it's more fun to drive.

Yeah it can? It's actually quite close. From a dig just flooring both cars the M40i will actually hold the lead for the 1/4 mile, and then the x3m will even out with the m40i at the end, if it manages to catch up.

The m40i is actually faster in real life. Only time the X3m is a little quicker is from launch. A stage 1 x3 m40i will walk it, if the x3m is stock. Even on jb4 map 2 without launch control the m40i is still faster 😂
yes it backfires stock, most performance bmw's backfire. To make the backfires more aggressive you can remove your muffler, get a catless downpipe, or get a tune
I’d prefer an m40i and tune it, idk just seems more practical to me. A stage 2 tune plus down pipe, and Later on change some suspension Internals to improve on handling would Be 👌🏽 but the x3m is just overall a different beast that isn’t practical at all times. The perfect balance would be that and an m2/m3/m4 in my opinion. To each their own though, both amazing cars

They both slow without the mod. the car was X40 was ruunig low 13s stock. with just JB4, it was running 11.7. watch the other video i posted from the track.. so how the hell will they be faster stock.
its a matter of opinion , JB4 to be is superior IMHO , The X3 40i is now running low 11 and its very safe, the safety alone make Jb4 superior than other in the market. with only 2 mods, jb4 and downpipe with E30. the car now run consistence 24psi on map 5 for last 8 month. Say what you want but i like my car being together and not blowing up like other flash ecu i have seen. even my 335 single turbo runs JB4 with mhd backend and i was happy with it.

youve clearly never driven a SUV, the ride is 10x better for anyone over 5'8ft tall than a sedan or truck

On paper there's at least an 8 mph advantage in trap speed for the X3M
