    Once again, thank you for covering how this sits in the lap! The placement of those nonslip pads looks like it might work on my legs better than my RAP sticks. I've never tried a noir layout stick, but I love Hayabusa components, so I may have to pick one of these up!

      Once I swapped to the noir layout, I have never gone back. I currently play on a qanba pearl and love it. My first noir stick was a fighting edge. I want this one for the easy button swaps.

      Sticks haven’t gotten any better since then. They’re still using the same bog standard Sanwa parts and the only selling point is compatibility. Where’s the Seimitsus? Korean levers? Nobody actually competes to make a better arcade stick anymore. They just add more stupid button layouts and flashy lights.

    Great review! I also like the buttons all up the front.

      Mad Catz sticks were quite popular during the late PS3/early PS4 era because a bunch of pros were using them, until the company went bankrupt. Ever since, companies like Qanba, Hori and Razer have been filling the void. Although none of them have made something as cool as the good old MC VS Stick.

    I have my eye on this stick, the PS edition for Strive drops in Japan at the end of June, so only a matter of time till a US release. The cord storage looks bad but if there is enough clearance a couple of small hooks or posts could allow for storage without touching components. Also I like the large gap the cable comes out of.

    Looks solid. Ive been using the RAP4 for alot of old games on MAME and its super responsive. I switched out the buttons and changed the gate on the stick. I still dont understand why companies limit these sticks to certain platforms. Some of these sticks dont even support PC. Not sure why no one makes a quality universal stick for all platforms. Maybe its a licensing issue. It reminds me of the pain in the ass of trying to get good surround headphones but being limited to one system for each pair. Im a rare stick user but if this stick had macros or a way to map multiple button inputs into each button it would be tempting. I cant see any reason why Id upgrade to this version over the RAP 4. Maybe if I played alot of fighting games and wanted to play them with a stick on Series X. That seems to be the trick they use. This seems like a downgrade without rapid fire too.

    • @theconsolekiller7113
      @theconsolekiller7113 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@hollowhenry04 Appreciate the feedback. I will definately keep that in mind. I switch between a modded Hori RAP4 and modded mayflashf500 for different types of games (seimitsu joystick mainly for shooters and hayabusa stick for faster moving games, fighting games). I havent noticed the additional lag but I will definately keep that in mind. In order to get my RAP4 to work on Xbox or Switch requires an adapter anyway, so I may still get that extra input lag in the end, on those platforms. I use the RAP4 for alot more than PS4 and PC which is what it natively supports.

    • @theconsolekiller7113
      @theconsolekiller7113 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@hollowhenry04 Nice. Appreciate that. Hopefully. I have an old Hori Rap3 coming in soon, that I plan to mod, so in worst case I can jump between the RAP4 and RAP3 on PS4 and PC without using any adapters. For other platforms I may have to sacrifice some response time. So far the mayflash has felt great to me on Xbox but I havent tested it on the hardest games yet.

    Im thinking of buying this stick, basically so i can play killer instinct on the windows store on pc and perhaps get the latest xbox console.
    My main concerns are the cable. Do you have to always open up the stick to put in the cable, or does slide inside the hole? Would sliding the cable back in the hole danage the wiring inside?

    • @ChrisStoneinator
      @ChrisStoneinator 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I own exclusively used sticks. No issues at all. These buttons and levers are called “arcade parts” for a reason. They’re designed to withstand all sorts of abuse. I’d argue buying a used stick is a no brainer so long as you’re willing to clean it.

    Just got this stick. My second ever, first in nearly 20 years. I have a question I hope you may be able to answer. When I press a direction on the controller it registers the movement with a click - if I then press harder the joystick moves further in that direction and kind of clunks slightly (it's almost like another click - but after the move has already been registered). Is this normal? Or does it sound like a problem with the joystick?

    • @NihongoGamer
      @NihongoGamer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Sounds normal. You only need to push far enough to register an input. Pushing further brings you to the “gate” which you can use to get a better idea of which position the lever is in without having to look down at it. “Riding the gate” isn’t necessary though and you can choose when and whether you do.

    Will you be doing any more on the Octa? I quite like those videos

      not sure but I am tempted. I may try dedicating one game I play totally to pad again since I have the Octa now

      @@NihongoGamer That could be a very interesting experiment! Any ideas on what type of fighter you'd be interested in switching to pad for?

    Will it work with the older 360? Can anyone recommend a good stick for the 360?

    Considering getting this stick. However the mayflash f500 elite is only £100 and looks really decent. Anyone here know why the mayflash is bad? Or breaks?

      I don’t have a mayflash myself but I’d make sure the model u get doesn’t require an extra controller to be plugged in to make it work with ur console. That can be a bit of an inconvenience
