  • Thank you to all of the people who have subscribed, liked and viewed the channel! If you're like me, you'll never forget your first RC cars and even the ones you could never afford as a kid!
I don't claim to be an expert on all of these models, just a passionate collector who looks to pass on some insight about the facts I do know and what to look for if you have been wanting to finally own one of these cars.
If you have facts or questions about these cars that I don't address, PLEASE post in the comments!! I'd love this to be a very informative, collaborative place to discuss the cars we all love.

Love this car. I still have mine. It was the limited edition, no car on the box. I wish I still had the box. Hopefully everybody is per-ordering the new 1/16th version today!

Ohhhh I had one of these buggies. I wish I still had it. I replaced everything on it. Oil shocks, titanium gear box. Dropped a Turbo 05 cobalt drag motor in it...oh boy. It was too fast to handle for an average racer. Decided to convert it to a truck...fooled all the JRX-T drivers at the track because mine was faster hahaha. Ended up selling it to an advanced driver that competed in open races. My friend talked to him one day and he said he was winning all of his races! At that time I had the fastest electric in existence to my knowledge. The fastest in my area at least. Had I not been only 15 years old I probably would have kept it but I just couldn't handle it.

I still have my original JRX2. It would be nice if they did a re-release so I could get new parts and drive it again like I did with my Tamiya Lunchbox.

Totally agree! I would go nuts if they re-re'd the Jrx2. Don't see it happening as Horizon owns Losi now. Thanks for the comment!

used to race a jrxt professionally in the 90s and won the north American coca cola challenge with this truck. I have a whole room full of trophies I won with this thing.

I wonder if you ever ran across my converted JRX-2 at any races. I sold it to an advanced driver when I was 15 because I couldn't handle it. It was modified to the maximum though. More like a drag car speed.

In 1988 I was 14, and was in my local hobby store and this crazy looking dude walked in covered with tattoos, piercings, and jewelry, wearing a leather vest and holding this futuristic car which was the Losi Jr x2. The hobby store owner installed a new modified motor, battery, and mounted the steering servo for him. I watched as they ran it in the parking lot and then the guy left. When the hobby store owner came back inside, he asked me if I ever heard of the band Motley Crue, I said yes, then he said,... that was the drummer. I hadn't seen a car run so fast before as a child., and so I always wanted a Jr x2 ever since. Good just to see one. Great video

Wow, Great story!! Its fun when you hear about celebs that are into RC. I know here in the Detroit area Ben Wallace of the '04 champ Pistons was big into RC and was a regular at the local hobby shops!

I started with, and still have, My JRXT, although I have modified it heavily for racing. All the way up to the Stealth Transmission with MRP CVs, titanium turnbuckles and RPM A-arms. I have started my boy into the hobby, and we are driving this and my vintage LXT as well.. Until he starts to get the hang of it and I get him a new vehicle of his own. Nice to see these old cars still kicking out there..Thanks for taking the time to share your collection with us..

Just a little add: the telescopic shafts from the trasmission box to the wheels, wonderfully reliable, smooth and totally rid of troubles. I loved that!

This was the car I had in the day, it was the best at the time unless you had rc, 10 with stealth transmission maybe I would just stare at this car on car action mag before I finally got one

Pull the rear wheels off and see if the axles are black with no unpainted surfaces. Those early axles bent left and right, didnt stop til the hardened axles were released a few months after the initial run. Would be cool if yours had the original axles if it's a real early car, doubt many, if any of those axles survived.

I had one of the early jrx2 cars with the picture of the car on the box, the chassis was the graphite 3 layer , meaning graphite bottom fiberglass center graphite top layer, but the trans had the diff on the outdrives not like the one pictured in this vid, later that year I want to say it was 1990 I bought the jrx-pro conversion . that was the longer chassis longer jrxt front shocks and the rear H arms wich did away from the 5 link. also I recall the servo on both my jrx2 and pro both had servo mount holes drilled in them, there was a full carbon fiber weave chassis on the much later jrx2 cars just before they brought out the xx car.

Great video, Still not sure exactly what model Losi I have.. and I've had it since like 1991 (it was used then) But it seems almost the same as this one.. Maybe a later revision. It has different front arms though and the skinnier battery box.

First buggy with different front arms than these was the Jrx-pro SE. It had a plastic chassis though.

Had one, bought it right around when they first came out, 88 or 89 built it with my father, shortly after put a 9 turn motor in it and a 7 cell battery, run through a cheap futaba speed control, beat the living hell out of it for a few years and it took everything I threw at it, never had a major problem, lost it during a move, wish I still had it

Do the trailing links on the rear serve any purpose, or are they just a redundancy/reinforcement to the double wishbone suspension? I remember reading about/seeing this setup on the JRxT, but never fully understood it.

I still have the JRX-Pro (upgraded from a JRX2) that I raced as a kid so many years ago! I would love to "modernize" it a bit and run it again with modern electrics. I've read stories of people who run theirs for 10-15 minutes at a time! I was lucky to get done with a 4-minute race back in the day! Need some suggestions on batteries and chargers that will fit in the old battery cup.

Does anyone know where to find a metal spur gear for a jrx2? Or a 32 pitch conversion?

I still have a jrx2 from 1990. It has a few improved parts, like better shocks, wheels, nylon axles and a stronger diff gear. The original diff gear teeth wore down. The RC-10 gearbox is nowhere near as good no matter what you do with it. That's why I sold my RC10 and bought a jrx-2 way back then.

Dans RC stuff had the good servo tape, at least good enough for me. It stuck like a champ.
