I'm taking Spanish as an extra curriculum even though it was one of my first languages and everyone in my school is saying why are you taking Spanish when it is one of your first languages... I'M NOT THE BEST AT SPANISH OK, THERE IS A LOT OF ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT.
There's proper Spanish and then there's slang Spanish, if you don't live in a "proper" Spanish environment you speak Spanish but not standard good Spanish. It's the same if an English speaker spoke English only at home in a Spanish speaking country without having an English class for natives at school, like the one they have in Britain, Canada, the US... I'm pretty sure the children of British immigrants here in Spain don't speak proper English either.

Spanish is my first language and English is my second language. I only spoke Spanish until I got to preschool because there I started learning English. I sadly lost confidence in my Spanish and only knew the basics. But I’m relearning and regaining my confidence now that I’m older so I can pass this language onto my kids I’m 1st generation the language can’t stop at me.
I'm also terrible with accents, but I did fairly well. I'm not that confident in my spanish (it's my fourth language), but watching pero like videos (especially those about being bilingual when english is my second language) is making me feel pretty good. knowing multple languages is the shit! I encourage everyone to learn, it's not too late.
"I don't dislike you, but I don't like you either" is translated wrong. It'd be something like "no me caes mal, pero tampoco me caes bien". The way you guys translated it is very literal.
Some argue that it can cause learning deficiencies (which is what used to be said about bilingualism in general so this type of distinction is useful for these studies.)
Can yall do more Spanish videos? This was super interesting to watching and it helped with my Spanish listening skills. Thank you very much for the videos!!!
As someone who was born and spent almost all my primary education in the U.S and am now studying a degree in Foreign languages in Mexico, learning how to speak a language because of context rather than because you studied it in school lacks the grammatical aspect therefore assuming this is the case for them I don't think they are to blame for their lack of knowledge.
I can speak both languages, but I'm not that high in vocabulary. I should try to add bigger words into my languages so I could at least feel like I could speak a language. You see? I'm so repetitive. My spelling is getting worse too. My Spanish vowels are trying to interrupt my English. That's not so great. I'm trying to push myself into bigger books like the Shadowhunter series, Harry Potter, or maybe complete the second series of Percy Jackson(Heroes of Olympus? Yes?). Whoever read this, you are truly gifted. Thanks for waisting your precious time. 😊
It happened to me when I learned french, but in the case of french is just memory or more subtle. The special c is the equivalent of every c in spanish that i like a s. and the trick for Ê is that try looking at the word and add an s after the e. You will notice that some words sound the same as some in english or spanish. Like forêt = forest, , fête = “fest(ival)”, intérêt = interest. Hope this help
Kae Hume I am not from Spain but this is basic Grammar. By the way, I am from Dominican Republic. The only excuse I can think of is that they were raised in the States.
@@melaniehc4761 son catetos a rabiar. Y estás contestandole a alguien que no conoces sobre su nivel de inglés, cuando no tiene por qué ser su lengua materna, y cuando de hecho los que se muestran en el vídeo sí tienen el castellano por lengua materna. No es una comparación justa.
Dude, I'm pretty pleased with myself. Spanish is my SECOND language and I got these mostly right, like maybe an A-. (I messed up the end of the last sentence a little but that was just a weird sentence!) And I didn't learn it in school, either. I learned it organically, working in Mexico. Crazy.
I'm Venezuelan.

teacher made me take a Spanish test (to enter AP Spanish in high school), spent the whole day re-taking the test, 4 times in total. finally, after the teacher witnessed my horrible grammer on the free write portion, she finally let me go lol
These people are descendants of latin-americans, which does not mean that they are themselves latin-Americans... to me they all are anglo-americans (english speaking people of the Americas) of latin-American descent that logically struggle with a language that it not theirs,
This is one of the reasons why I decided to learn Spanish! So many latin/hispanics born and or raised in the U.S claim to know spanish (for various reasons the Spanish was forgotten or not used) a lot don't know how to speak proper spanish. I was made fun of by your uncle because I didn't know how translate a letter he received. From that day I was determine to learn Spanish. I wanted to make him look like an uneducated fool! Ironically, when I started highschool my school offered spanish as a foreign language and I took it, I took a test and was placed in Spanish 202(level 2) and the irony is it was Castilian spanish! So I learned fancy af spanish!😂😂😂 so now every time I talk to muy uncle I always rub my spanish skills in his face! Now I can read and write in Spanish. I also did it because it's part of my heritage. Also I can now understand, french, Portuguese(I can speak it a bit) Italian(speak a bit too) and I also found out I'm really good at learning other languages really fast too.
Tbh No one ever showed me to read and write Spanish. I kinda self learned using the English rules soooooo. My Spanish sounds like a kindergartener trying to read.
Brazilians speak Portuguese, Argentinians speak Spanish, but they speak with a very unique accent. Argentina has one of the largest Italian communities outside of Italy, and the Spanish of Argentina has an Italian cadence and pronunciation.
That is not true. The Spanish Royal Academy (Real Academia Española) standardises the language rules, the only thing that varies is the usage, but proper Spanish is the same everywhere, proper Spanish is the one that follows the official rules. It's really simple, American English doesn't have different rules from British English, does it? Why would Spanish? On top of that English doesn't have an institution standardising it, Spanish does, things like neighbor or neighbour in English don't happen in Spanish because of the RAE. Proper Spanish is proper Spanish everywhere.
Selvaggia Aguillon well, the usage varies in different Spanish “versions”, some regions use some tenses instead of other in certain circumstances, Spanish has a very extensive verb system compared with English, this means that there are many past tenses or subjunctive tenses and different conjugations depending on the type of verb and the person doing the action... so there’s no need to alter grammar to regionalise it, you can just use one of those more than the other while all are correct. For example, in Spain there’s vosotros and ustedes, in Latin America they don’t use vosotros, they always use ustedes, it is not wrong because ustedes is a way to say it but in Spain you have two forms both used, using both correct forms is a characteristic of Spain’s Spanish using one correct form is typical of Latin America. Most grammatical differences are that Latin American variants, especially Mexican Spanish, are closer to (American) English and borrow from native languages while European Spanish always tends to be closer to the other Latin languages (French and Italian) and it forms new words instead of borrowing from native American languages. There’s also the typical: mobile/cell phone (teléfono móvil/celular), elevator/lift (elevador/ascensor)... that are the exact same in Latin Am. Spanish versus European Spanish as in American/British English. We have differences but the proper way is to use all forms in circumstances where they can be used.
Perfect representation of how i take spanish tests bc although im hispanic theres so many ways we can say something but these tests only use the spain spanish and everyone is like “you speak spanish? Oh thats so unfair youre gunna pass this test!” But likeee its a learning process for me too lol
Diane Solorzano these tests use proper Spanish, you probably speak and write like shit. It only counts as Spain's Spanish if they use the «vosotros» conjugation plus their regionalisms.
Bee but if they use Hispanic they have to include Spain, and they have some kind of thing going on with including Spain, Europeans can't get in here...
They didn't use people from every latin country therefor they wouldn't have to use people from every hispanic country. Using the word latin suggests that you might be including non Spanish speakers, which they did not do. That is why I think they should have used the term hispanic instead of latin.

Love you you guys and 8th one here
I'm also terrible with accents, but I did fairly well.
Son latinos, no se les enseña el español puro lo cual es una pena.
That's the point, I think.
Damn it Gadiel 😂😂 He cracks me up every video!
isn't 'partially bilingual' an oxymoron?
brightredstar This is about spanish not the english language......alright
AnimePandacorn Queen ????????? Wtf. You need to reevaluate your comment
brightredstar yes it is
Not at all, it is used in technical terms, for example in linguistics or psychology, as opposed to "proficient bilingualism"
Some argue that it can cause learning deficiencies (which is what used to be said about bilingualism in general so this type of distinction is useful for these studies.)
Can yall do more Spanish videos? This was super interesting to watching and it helped with my Spanish listening skills. Thank you very much for the videos!!!

El español es mucho más difícil que el inglés, miren cuánto acento, conjugaciones verbales y géneros tenemos jajajaa
Como cuando sientes que eres la única que sí pudo poner todas las tildes en los lugares correctos y te sientes rara porque la mayoría no xd 😂
Latinos: The accents always kill me
Me: Try learning French (é,è,ê,ë, and ç)
It happened to me when I learned french, but in the case of french is just memory or more subtle. The special c is the equivalent of every c in spanish that i like a s. and the trick for Ê is that try looking at the word and add an s after the e. You will notice that some words sound the same as some in english or spanish. Like forêt = forest, , fête = “fest(ival)”, intérêt = interest. Hope this help
I knew Gadiel was going to do well because his Dominican accent sounds really original, I'm shook that Spanish is his second language
Saidie Jimenez
no he said that english is his second language and that spanish is his first
Any other Spaniards cringing while yelling the answers at them?😂🙋🏻
Kae Hume I am not from Spain but this is basic Grammar. By the way, I am from Dominican Republic. The only excuse I can think of is that they were raised in the States.
Me hearing them speaking broken english cracks me up
Vaya catetos que descuartizan el idioma en este video
@@user-jh4ir6km5p me gustaría oír tu inglés idiota
@@melaniehc4761 son catetos a rabiar. Y estás contestandole a alguien que no conoces sobre su nivel de inglés, cuando no tiene por qué ser su lengua materna, y cuando de hecho los que se muestran en el vídeo sí tienen el castellano por lengua materna. No es una comparación justa.
There can be different Spanish dialect trick questions I got in there before
"Take that spain"😂
Dude, I'm pretty pleased with myself. Spanish is my SECOND language and I got these mostly right, like maybe an A-. (I messed up the end of the last sentence a little but that was just a weird sentence!) And I didn't learn it in school, either. I learned it organically, working in Mexico. Crazy.
that is one of the best ways to learn another language!
Same, it's my 2nd language and I got all those tildes. I have no idea why people make it seem so hard when it's not.
I'm Venezuelan.

lol! Love it!!
why are tildes so hard for y'all?
Carolina Monsan because the public school system quit teaching us in Spanish in the 3rd grade. As a little kid I actually knew these.
well as someone who is trying to teach themself spanish and isn't a native speaker or any way hispanic it's because I'm not used to accents in English XD. Idk why for people that grew up in spanish households.
As a person so is learning Spanish I always thought that accents would be a piece of cake for Hispanic/Spanish people, kinda glad it’s not just me lmao
3:15 is that really the correct translation?

teacher made me take a Spanish test (to enter AP Spanish in high school), spent the whole day re-taking the test, 4 times in total. finally, after the teacher witnessed my horrible grammer on the free write portion, she finally let me go lol
Arriba guatemala
These people are descendants of latin-americans, which does not mean that they are themselves latin-Americans... to me they all are anglo-americans (english speaking people of the Americas) of latin-American descent that logically struggle with a language that it not theirs,
Shouldn’t the title be “Hispanics” rather than “Latinos” given that some are not from Latin America? 🤔
finally!!!!!!
I hate having to remember where to put the accents but it makes the words so much prettier
Who's Brazilian 🇧🇷 and doesn't know what's going on?
Gabriella Chanel eles esquecem de nós 😂🙁
Well I ain't Brazilian I'm Portuguese Angolan but we speak the same language so.. 😂
Nunca faltan los brasileños... 😂
Saludos vecina.
I'm Brazilian but I also speak Spanish so I get what they're saying (and got triggered when they got the accents wrong. C'mon, guys, it's easy)
Just warning people: not every latino speak spanish....
Tbh No one ever showed me to read and write Spanish. I kinda self learned using the English rules soooooo. My Spanish sounds like a kindergartener trying to read.
“spanglish” meeee
yuli reminds me of this friend I had in 5th grade Cari she's Dominican too. I loved her and her accent ❤
Imagine an Argentinian or Brazilian doing this Spanish test as latinos :)))
Aida C. Argentinians speak Spanish too, though? Would be just as entertaining as a Mexican or Dominican doing this test
Marianne O'Brien as far as I know they speak Portuguese or am I wrong?🤔
nono. We argentinians speak spanish ("castellano" to be more precise. Meaning "from Castilla")
Meme Mims my mistake. Sorry
Brazilians speak Portuguese, Argentinians speak Spanish, but they speak with a very unique accent. Argentina has one of the largest Italian communities outside of Italy, and the Spanish of Argentina has an Italian cadence and pronunciation.
"take that Spain" hahahahaha Gadiel, u r amazing, big hug from Spain

Gadiel is LITERALLY my favorite person on this planet. He makes me smile by just simply smiling.
But what is “proper” Spanish? It’ll vary by region. The Spanish they teach in the DR won’t be 100% the same as what they’ll teach you in Mexico.
Claudia what
That is not true.
Lucas Villar British English and American English have minor grammatical differences (dreamed, dreamt; the usage of "already" as a past tense verb)
Even for Spanish speakers accent is difficult! ✋
That's the thing about Spanish. I've been studying it for 6 yrs now, and I've realized there are so many ways to say one thing!
No me gusta la política, pero yo le gusto? dafuck nadie habla así. no me agrada la política, pero yo le agrado a la política
2:49 idk why that was so endearing to me!💖 que curioso se me hizo 😭
They should have used "hispanic" in the title and not "latino"
Why? They are both.
Only hispanics speak Spanish and that's what this video is about.
Bee yes, but they NEVER include Spain while always use Hispanic, there’s not one video... it’s not just that they couldn’t include everyone here.
Gadiel and Julissa, ustedes son the best!! Hugs from Brasil =*
No such thing as a “partial bilingual” you either are or you aren’t
Curly! I totally agree with you! Spanglish is my language!
