Cabron has multiple meanings in Puerto Rico. It depends on tone. Like saying in a harsh way, it means asshole. Saying in a cool tone to a friend, it just mean dude. Other Latin American countries use it for like a guy that has been cheated on or if you add "-ito" to refer to little kid.
I grew up with my el Salvadorian dad and he said coger, i said that at a family reunion saying “Coger” at my brother and literally everyone looked at me but i was confused because i was with my mom at the time and She told me the same thing “QUE ESTAD VIENDO?”

I'm Guatemalan and "Pirujo" for us is a bread roll. I once walked into a Mexican Bakery asking for some, let's just say I never made that mistake again. 😬
In Venezuela, "arrecho/arrechera" means you're VERY VERY ANGRY. I was studying in Canada with Mexicans and Colombians and I would always "IM SO ANGRY!!!" when something was going wrong at school and they would always blush and stare at me. Turns out ESTAR ARRECHO in those countries means being HORNY!!!! SO I WAS JUST YELLING AT SCHOOL THAT I WAS SUPER HORNY AT RANDOM TIMES AND MY CLASSMATES JUST THOUGHT I OVERSHARED A LOT. IM DEAD.
Wow, never knew that. My mother is from Honduras. My father is from Puerto Rico and I know the word pepa in PR means a pill, but in Honduras it means vagina.
I'm Nica and for us "trastes" means dishes, but my hubby is from Uruguay and for them it means private parts. When we were dating I went to meet his parents and I was trying to be a good guest and I offered to help his mother wash dishes. 🙊 Lord Jesus!! I couldn't understand why my hubs (then bf) was laughing hysterically.
😂😂😂😂 my husband and me are Nica so it's been pretty easy to understand each other. But my ex was Mexican and when I called him a baboso he was REALLY mad 😂
Cuando yo estaba en Nicaragua el hijo de la familia con quien me estaba quedando me dijo que "bicho" se significa "p***y" en inglés y pensé en esto cuando lo mencionaron en el video. ¿Se significa esto para usted también?
My brother was working in Chile, and us being Mexican know the term for fever as ‘calentura’ he goes to the dr cause he was feeling sick and begins to explain his symptoms. He tell the nurse ‘pues no me siento bien, creo que me quiere dar calentura...’ and she just gives him that awkward stare.... o.O
As a Dominican I always get confused when my Mexican bestfried says the word "ahorita." To me ahorita means later but to him it means "right now". So I always have to clarify just so we're on the same page as to when we're meeting up.
I guess it depends on the context and the person I mean it could be like my mom telling me "Haz tal cosa" y yo le respondo "ahorita" which means later or it could also be used as "he's coming" "when?" "Ahorita" like he's coming right now.
It was really awkward when my friend was raving about how much she likes to eat chanclas. It was like, "You eat chanclas?" and she was like, "Yeah! I love it with mayo whether it's red or purple, etc. Don't you like eating chanclas?" "Um... no? Maybe it means something different to you. What are chanclas to you?" That's when I learned that chanclas means elote in another country. I don't remember which.
Alba Perez lmaooo for Mexicans chanclas means like flip flops 💀😂 im dead. She likes eating “flip flops” 😂😂 what the heck is the other meaning for chanclas then?
My friend is Guatemalan and I remember she invited me to a party at her house where she promised me they would be having enchiladas. I am Mexican, so for the whole day I was envisioning drenched tortillas in green or red sauce with some type of meat or cheese inside. As the party begins I see that they have tostadas and I look to her like, "Where are the enchiladas?". TURNS OUT, Mexican Enchiladas are VERY different from Guatemalan enchiladas, but omg they are so delicious.
Guadalupe Mejia that’s so true! Lol my brother in law is Guatemalan so I’m confused when he says enchiladas and quesadillas! But they are so good either way
Guadalupe Mejia when i went to guatemala i was really excited to try chilaquiles bc i was expecting the mexican version (tortilla chips and eggs and salsa verde) and was confused when i saw cheese filled güisquil on my plate
Okay, so I've been learning Spanish for a few years, but I by no means can speak it fluently. I also work at a restaurant, so whenever I see guests walk in and they are speaking Spanish I ask the hostesses to sit them at my table so I can practice. Well one time a beautiful Mexican girl came in and she was sat at my table. I introduced myself and asked her if she was cool with me trying to only talk to her in Spanish so I could practice. Everything was going great, estabamos hablando en espanol y I'm trying to flirt when I can. When I bring the check out I asked her if it was okay for me to "Coger los platos y tazas" I can't tell you how embarrassed I was. She laughed and asked what I meant in English and I was like any chance I possibly had was just gone. But, she thought it was funny and wanted to hangout sometime soon. So moral of the story is asking someone if you can f*ck their dishes isn't always a bad thing.
aaron sullivan she’s ignorant. I’m Mexican and know that the verb coger means “to grab”. Yes, we use it as vulgar way to say “fuck”, but if she doesn’t know the actual meaning of the word then she’s ignorant.
Most Mexicans I know can't speak Spanish.... they speak a derivative of based on their region of origin. Proper Spainish is not confusing, but the new world countries mix it up and things get sloppy Kinda like English...with American and the Australian variety.
@@ade910 the term latino comes from the roman conquered regions that adopted latin and mixed it with their original languages, Spain, Portugal, Italy and France. Spain and Portugal conquered part of north America and all of south America, which is why those regions are known as Latin America. So latinos do exist. And yes people from quebec and Louisiana also qualify as latino since those regions were conquered by France and there are many french descendants there.
I was teaching an art class in Mexico and I told the kids "Cogen su lapiz y vamos a mirar al objeto" Everyones reaction was priceless, cause I had NO idea what I said
Coger is easily the biggest one that gets me in trouble cuz im ecuadorian and it means to grab for me too. I work in an office where A LOT of our customers are mexican and sometimes it slips out 😂😂😂
Sayzar94 I'm used to the word because although I'm me I an, my mom uses coger all the time instead of "tomar" or "agarrar". I don't know when the word's meaning started to change, because all my uncles use it too.
popote, for mexicans, means 'drinking straw' b/c it comes from the nahuatl word 'popotl'. for every other spanish-speaker, though, it literally means 'big poop'.
Yesss I had a Salvadoran bf at one time and I asked him for a popote cuz some words I always say in Spanish regardless if I’m speaking English or Spanish... like liga... but point is he didn’t know wtf I was talking about and he lived amongst Mexicans come on! ( neighborhood)
My great grandparents are straight from Mexico, and my grandparents speak Spanish fluently, but the culture kinda stops at my mom. It’s kinda sad as I see more and more of the Spanish speaking culture become more popular and appreciated, so much so that some people are beginning to want to be Latino or Mexican and I had that ability in my hand but I didn’t really grasp for it. Just wanted to share that with you. Remember to always love your culture and where you come from (also, love your videos)!
You are right a lot of WHITES WANT TO BE TAN AND BROWN AND THEY SAY THEY ARE MEXICAN WITH A WHITE LAST NAME. A lot of Europeans are saying they are Mexicans. NO. Mexicans the real ONES ARE BROWN MEZTIZOS AND HAVE A CULTURE ONLY THEY KNOW.
Joder. One of my best friends is from Spain and made the mistake of saying that word (which is a mild interjection over there) in front of my grandmother. She damn near threw her chancleta at him.
I mean. I'm from Denmark and don't know Spanish. So this is a Danish word instead so... yeah Don't ever and I mean EVER call me bae. In danish that is a word for poop, and its spelled bæ (in old times æ was spelled ae). So if you say "You are my bae" I'm not going to be impressed.
When I was little, I used to say “coger” all the time (I’m Mexican) and my parents would stare at me and ask “wtf did u say” 💀💀 apparently, it was REcoger and not just coger
Peachy Bri true. Well, in my household coger meant grab but we barely used it. It was recoger that was mostly grab. When you said coger. It meant fucking.
Yasss but I’ve notice that domicans and Puerto Rican’s have an accent and they don’t pronounce their r and it sounds like an L instead. Correct me if I’m wrong
Yeah that confused me so much when I started taking a Spanish class because the Peruvian teacher tell us to do things ahorita and I'd be putting my stuff away while my classmates would getting to work 😂
My mom is from salvador and she would never let me use bicho/a she’s always like that’s what corriente people say and Im like ooookkkkaaaauuyyy mom Edit: Corriente means ghetto
Criseyda Gomez I guess it has a lot of meanings really depending on how you use it but over there it means worm lol so she would give me shit for talking like that. So I don’t use it anymore. Or ‘maje’ either. My mom doesn’t have a Salvadoran accent so I guess that’s why she’d get on me 🤷🏻♀️
it depends on the concept(?) in this concept, it's like cheap- like "you'll look like those cheap girrrls". Vulgarona, fácil, mojigata are sinónimos of that in spanish, depending (yes, again) on the concept.
“Traste” means dishes i think if you’re from Mexico but in Argentina “traste” means ass. Lmao so when I’m boyfriends grandma told me to wash the dishes imagine my confusion lmao😂
Wait, so what does cuero mean then? For us (Spain) it's just leather, but "estar/ir en cueros" means to be naked, although it's not a commonly used expression. Also bicho means bug, coger is to grab, and concha is literally just a shell. Man, language is so fucking weird, i love It.
For us (mexicans) it means skin, which is why we use it leather or nude (en cueros/ encuerado) but i guess it kinda makes sense how it went from skin to slut in other countries.
selena in some parts of Mexico coger is to fuck or to have sex with someone just a vulgar way of saying it... Im Mexican too we say recojer in my house and when my friends from Puerto Rico say it is normal we understand what they are saying but we dont ever say it.
@@radrook2153 It means pubic hair in standard Spanish. But technically it is something which hangs, I guess, so it makes sense for a little child to be a pendejo. Something which hangs off his mothers back or chest.
Hah, just thinking about bicho reminds me of my coworkers because we have some people that are Nica and for them it means vagina. Just to think that for me a bicho is a bug, to a Puerto Rican it means penis and that a Nicaraguense it means vagina still makes me laugh at how different Spanish can be.
6 ปีที่แล้ว
In Arg bicho could be used as something you call your loved one, like calling them litlle bug... But bicha is also snake, or someone very mean
Viva Chile! Apparently we have the most different Spanish from all the other countries lol. My mom once told me that her friends thinks Chileans don't even speak Spanish but an alien language lol 🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱♥️♥️
Ivy North hahaha I could somehow agree. My step mom is chilean and one thing that got me with that weird look is to listen to her say "guagua" as child while for us dominican is a transport bus 🤣
LOL. Well I have heard Chileans speak and I have to pay close attention in order to dicipher the words. The accent is very distinct. But I can understand it fine.
I'm half Honduran and Mexican. one word that is Hondurans use to describe a cow in Spanish is "wuey", and my dad uses it frequently for when talking about food etc. For my mexican mom, "wuey" is used like to say "dumba**" if used as to insult or "homie" if you hanging out with a group of friends who happen to be Mexican. So I have to use "wuey" carefully on the daily, because it isn't a big issue to my dad, but to my mom, it's better not to mention it in the house.
Latinos speak many different languages not just Spanish. A more accurate title would use the term Hispanics since Haitians and Brazilians (just to name a few) were not in this video expressing their "inappropriate" terminology as well. Besides that... this was a great video! I tend to use a lot of DR🇩🇴 and PR🇵🇷 slang, so this was a good reminder to be careful.
I’m Peruvian and I don’t think we use wawa. I think we would say bús or autobús. But wawa for a baby makes sense, because that’s the sound they make when they cry.
i’m mexican and my whole family says “coger” for picking up i didn’t know that meant something else to other mexicans every mexican friend i have uses that so i didn’t think anything of it
Also my peruvians friends use “molestar” as when you wanna make fun of someone and it did mean the same thing in Brasil like 30 or 40 years ago but today it means sexual abuse or rape
My mom is Colombian and my dad is Mexican, so when I go to both countries, I always have to switch my vocabulary for each place.😂 Like coger is completely fine is Colombia, but in Mexico it's a no. Torta is cake in Colombia , but a sandwich in Mexico 🥴It's neverending.
i salute you! not easy. my sister married a urugayan, one time I made a mistake by saying I need the "cachucha" referring to my cap because it was too sunny outside.that is how Colombians call it (yes, im colombian)......anyway my brother in law looked at me with shock. he said cachucha was very inappropriate. lolol other things like that too. im always careful when im around him or his family lol.
In 🇯🇲JA we have a little green squash that we put in soup. we call it Chocho, while shopping my aunt was embarassed to find in Spanish its slang for p🐺ssy. So now she calls it the spanish name Chayote.
"guao guao" in Cuba it means bus, in Mexico it means dog, in Puerto Rico it means a big truck, in Dominican republic it means baby, and in Ecuador it means a truck.
I'm dominican and i've never heard that "guao guao" means "baby" here, when i hear a person saying "guao guao" in the first thing i think is a dog; But if you say "gua-gua" in Dominican Republic It means bus.
Once in Spanish class, (all of us spoke Spanish already, we were chillin) but our teacher printed a worksheet for us and it said cabron on it. Idk but to us that meant something different than what it meant on the assignment 😂
I speak spanish but from panama and my spanish class was based off mexican spanish. I would always get marked wrong for stuff bc we wrote and said things differently.
prettysureful I live in the US but all my family is from Mexico, so in High School, here in Texas, most of us are Mexican and we’re forced to take a Spanish class because they don’t have teachers to teach any other languages, but the Spanish they thought us wasn’t Mexican Spanish so a lot of us would get certain words wrong and Spanish was my first language so I know it well, one day we all got so pissed that we failed this test that we yelled at the teacher saying shit like “wtf do you mean this word doesn’t mean this word” or “how is this not spelled right??” And she told us that we just don’t speak Spanish well and I yelled out “bullshit I can have a full on conversation with my abuelita in Spanish tf you mean?!?” And someone asked what type of Spanish you teaching us and she said Spain Spanish so I was like “Wtf!? If you know that we all are Mexicans why would you teach us that!!” We all complained to the principal and got moved to a different class 😂
prettysureful i had to take my driving test in English because when i took the test in Spanish thinking it was going to be easy, well it wasn’t i didn’t understand. Luckily i had 37questions right and i was guessing half of the time.
sobylove Yeah it does, I stayed in Puerto Rica for like 2 months with my family when I was a like 12 and I thought our Spanish was the same so I asked this lady that worked at this boardwalk “Tienen jugo the naranja?” And she was like wtf? I kept asking her and since my dad had been there working for a couple of months he picked up the lingo so I asked him for help and he was like “Oh say jugo the China instead” and I was like okay. So automatically I thought China meant naranja so I asked this lady once at the super market where the China’s were at and she deadass looked at me like I was stupid. So yeah context matters 😂 Btw I’m Mexican
In Venezuela joder means joking around or having a good time for a laugh. Once I said to a spanish guy "quieres venir a joder por ahi con nosotras" and the guy froze on his feet. Apparently I crudely asked him for "coger" 🤣😂🤣
Emily Gastelum nooo also cojer.. I mean it is also a swear word but my family and friends usually use it as picking up idk I thought it was kind of weird when they mentioned it
Maria Jose Fenton Well maybe it’s only you guys... cause Mexicans to clean or pick up say recojer, “Deja lo recojo” but they also say “Deja lo levantó” to pick up
Jaja. Qué bella locura
What are you talking about? Bicho in P.R. have always been used to describe male organ, this and a whole lot of other words that we use for it. Now that does not mean that we do not know that it also means insect, but we just don't use it that way. That also goes with a slew of other words we use to describe other parts of the body or things/objects. I'm sure that way way back people back home use to talk in Spanish properly, but that has change. This goes along with all other countries that speak Spanish, depending of the country you are from, they have change or invented new words to conform with that region. Either way, we all share one common thing and that is language. Cógelo suave!
I guess I’m very bilingual in my own Spanish language 😂 cuz I knew the real meaning and the others countries meanings 😂 I guess I just watch a lot of different tvshows and movies from todo el mundo 🌍 ❤️
My mom was Mexican, so that’s my frame of reference for Spanish. I was a teenager in Florida and was told papaya meant vagina to Cubans. (Now I’m second guessing myself because it could be PR, too. It’s been 30 years). ❤️
My mom said "cookie-ta" like trying to say "galletita" at church and one of her friends almost pissed her pants laughing because to Venezuelanos I guess it means "hooker" so......
"Cuca" has double meaning. The first one is "catalinas", which are a Kind of Cookies; the other one is "vagina". That's the reason one many sellers say "cuca" as a strategy to sell their cookies because they know people are going to laugh. The significance of the word depends on the context, so "cuca" not always means "vagina".
yea , in my Nicaraguan household, the elders usually call the children that. but if it's an adult that says it it's offensive and shouldn't be used often
The word Bicho in Cuba means Bug but in Nicaragua it means vagina. In other countries, you say papaya to talk about the fruit but to a Cuban it means vagina. So we say Fruta Bomba instead to talk about the fruit.
I was little and I'm Guatemalan right and my aunt she's Mexican. I was playing with a Barbie doll and I wanted to put it up in a ponytail and I only knew how to say hair tie in Spanish (now I know I'm English) and hair tie for me in Spanish is "Cola." I asked my aunt "can I have un cola" and she looked at me soooo weird and she's like you already have one, i was looking around and told her no then she pointed my butt then she's like "there's your cola" and I was sooo confused then my mom explained to her that I meant hair tie and for her it's "Liga". And I felt embarrassed so I stopped saying Cola to other people now and say Liga to understand me more. Cola for Mexicans means butt or tail and for me that's hair tie
I would like to hear about misunderstanding words between Cubans & Puerto Rican’s. 😂😆🤗 some words you mentioned is also misunderstood between Cubans & Puerto Rican’s, like pendejo , & bicho....However, I like your videos, they are funny. 🙏🤪
Yo soy británico (escocés) y aprendí español en España. Para mí el verbo 'coger' no significa nada sino 'to get' o 'to catch' en inglés. Me flipa que tenga tantos significados en cada distinto país. Como se dice en el Reino Unido sobre los estadounidenses, nos divide una lengua común jaja 😂
My cousin nickname in the Dominican Republic was Chicha. But here in the USA at her new job my mom was calling her all over the place Chicha and people where laughting. So, they found out that chicha is a bulgar way of saying to have sex in Puerto Rico.
Chicha is meat in Spain, and chichas are like michelines , lorzas or love handels ... I suppose that to have chicha = to have meat = to have sex , makes sense .
I had a high school Spanish teacher who was Salvadorian. In college I wanted to learn more Spanish and I had an Argentinian instructor for 1 semester. The following semester I had a Cuban instructor. It was like I was learning new slang each time. I felt so lost until I realized I was learning different dialects. I love this video as it explains what I had to figure out.😂😅
what words did we miss guys?!

Me "Chima" for Nicaraguan ppl just means "it hurts" like me Chima el zapato but apparently for Guatemalan ppl it's a bad word lol.

For the Filipinos 🇵🇭
“Puto” = rice cake
Lol what?!?! 😂😂😂
Justin Timothy Lalu What! That is a gay slang for us Dominican Republic 🇩🇴 folks
That’s a bad word for Costa Ricans
Related to "putu" in Malay. :)
In Brazilian Portuguese “Puto” is Kid and “Puto da vida” means “Pissed off”.
As a Mexicano🇲🇽 I’m surprised that Gadiel is actually still with us
Hahaha that's what I was thinking!
Chris Frias 😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I was born and raised in Miami and I moved to Texas and said “coger”,
Lord have mercy it was like I’d confessed to murder.
Mexicana aqui! I'd get my head turned 180 degrees if I said *THAT* in front of my parents! X'D
I'm Puertorrican and coger literraly means to grab something, is interesting how different a word can be
OMG! lol...😂

Bianca Robles yeah my mom calls my dog a pinche perro
Bianca Robles IF you where to say pinche at my house my mom would of gave you some dirty looks

Just learn Spanish from Spain and your set to go
Spanish changes so much when you go from country to country you might as well be speaking another language😂😂

In Mexico it changes from state to state.

"Leche" - milk right?
In Filipino we use it as a curse word meaning jizz...
In here it can sometimes mean that
Means the same all over Latin America. Just a word with two meanings lol
we use it for milk and for jizz in Spain 🤣 also you can use it to say something is good or to compliment someone, like ¡eres la leche!

To lick in French but it’s written like «lèche »

Some parts of mexico use it as well. But they emphasize it; "que cueraso!".

Weird I'm Mexican and I use it when I'm trying to say that I'll do it a bit later
To me ahorita means whenever like “eso es de ahorita” or “ es para ahorita”
I guess it depends on the context and the person I mean it could be like my mom telling me "Haz tal cosa" y yo le respondo "ahorita" which means later or it could also be used as "he's coming" "when?" "Ahorita" like he's coming right now.
Lol so true
Technically it means "right now", but many people just say that and do it later so it's taken a bit of a double meaning
Alondra Martinez Yeah, for her, chanclas were what we would call elote.

How about quesadillas? Guatemalan quesadillas are totally different than Mexican 😊

Yeah, they're different 😂😂😂😂
By the way, those 'enchiladas' you were expecting, here (in Guatemala) are called "pupusas" 😂😂😂😂

In Puerto Rico you say that to a girl you better be ready to get slapped
Lmao 😂
Alvaro Favela I don’t really think it’s ignorant because she probably had never heard it used that way

And yes people from quebec and Louisiana also qualify as latino since those regions were conquered by France and there are many french descendants there.

Emma With The Gs ooooh okay I see it now hahah thanks!
For Salvadorans
Cuero= leather
Bicho/bicha= boy or girl
Concha= shell
Dominican regularly use "en cuero" to refer to someone who is naked. "Cuero" by itself means both leather and whore to Dominicans.
In Argentina, "en cuero" means shirtless. But cuero's just leather

Once upon a time in Puerto Rico bicho simply meant a bug. Not anymore 😂. Now we say mime (mee-meh) lol

Carolbulanger 😂 You hit the nail on the head
In mexico cucita is a term of endearment or like a nickname for people named del refugio... idk 😂

Hah, I thought of that too. It's funny how we use that word for kids and pubes...
MicroPlugs 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 "Que pendejo!!!"
Pubic hair: wtf
Interesting
Yeah, that's what it means most to me. Cabro chico is what we use to refer to kids.
In honduras we say zipote(s)(see-po-teh) to say kid or kids we also say wirro or wirra for kids lmao we say hijueputa a lot too🇭🇳😂
Jorge Morales zipote/cipote in spain means penis AJAJAJJAJAJAJ
yea , in my Nicaraguan household, the elders usually call the children that. but if it's an adult that says it it's offensive and shouldn't be used often
We honduras use "puta" like using "fuck" 😂
Yesss 🇭🇳!!

They finally have a chileno 😂😂🇨🇱
Maria Isabel Rojas makes me so happy 😊
OMG YA I WAS WAITING
But my dad always said that pendejo is a pube but can also mean little kid lmao
Like of u Puerto Rican!!😀🇵🇷
Jocelyn J Gonzalez on its own it means butt or tail, but we call "pony tails" "cola de caballo" but a hair tie is called "liga"
I m ready for more of the chilean guy!!!
En Puerto Rico coger significa lo mismo que en España
My cousin nickname in the Dominican Republic was Chicha. But here in the USA at her new job my mom was calling her all over the place Chicha and people where laughting. So, they found out that chicha is a bulgar way of saying to have sex in Puerto Rico.
In Mexico, "chicha" (at least in the north part) means smart, or someone who's very sure about their actions (referring to a female).
Chicha is a beverage in Peru haha
Chicha is meat in Spain, and chichas are like michelines , lorzas or love handels ... I suppose that to have chicha = to have meat = to have sex , makes sense .
"Adios my little papitas fritas"
😂😂😂👌
I had a high school Spanish teacher who was Salvadorian. In college I wanted to learn more Spanish and I had an Argentinian instructor for 1 semester. The following semester I had a Cuban instructor. It was like I was learning new slang each time. I felt so lost until I realized I was learning different dialects. I love this video as it explains what I had to figure out.😂😅
