I would love to see adopted people take a DNA test. I'm adopted and I have no access to any family history whatsoever, and I know I'd be interested to see other people go through that journey

Have to say I enjoy not knowing, I can be whatever I want and in the current times I'd like to believe I have a lot of non-Earth based DNA. I also don't need any other "relatives," as I already have enough relatives I don't see or talk to I don't need more unless they're really rich and want to give me some $$$.

That's basically how it is in Europe though 😅 it's possible to trace back to 17th century, but before that it's harder and you need to be lucky. Because of the reformation, and the 30 years war and all the wars before (like the 100 years war) a lot of parish registers are not existing anymore or they just didn't have it before. So it's not possible to find a record before that.
But everything after 1600 isn't that much of a problem to trace back because of parish registers and comunal registers and court books.
Of course if you don't know which region or town your ancestors came from it will be difficult.
More like, "I can only trace my heritage back to the 1500's. but my grandfather is Jewish!!?"

mahdi sabri it says Ashkenazi Jewish, that is Jewish people from Eastern European countries, mostly Germany, Poland, Russia and France. Most came to Brazil because of the war and persecution and changed their last names just to survive.

i love watching the reactions to the results, i was born in east africa and grew up there but i also did my dna test just out of curiosity, the results are amazingly interesting!

@@Tekvicious it depends on what part of Eastern Europe, Russians often have a few percent of that from the Mongol invasions and many other Eastern Europeans have it to a smaller degree, but that invasions never made it into the Baltics or Western Poland so people from those regions tend to have none to only the barest trace

Do I care? Not particularly.
I guess Europeans, especially from small villages can "trace" their ancestry back way more but the people from the Americas are only able to "trace" back to the 1900s. I say trace with quotation marks because back then (and even until recently) families would take in children left on the streets without actually adopting them or wouldn't register their childrens/register them years after they were born so it's really all mixed up.

Finding out your dna ancestry is really interesting. I did mine recently & I got back results that were very shocking. A large portion of my dna is Indigenous American & European (most of it Spanish & Portuguese). A very small percentage was Arab, Egyptian & Lebanese, which I was very shocked about.

It turns out I am mostly European, mainly Spanish, and Ingidenous American.
I was so surprised! Really cool to find these things out!

Much like people from Mexico are surprised to find African DNA. Of course in Mexico they aren't but in the U.S. people seem unaware that Spain was conquered and raped for 700 years by the Moors. That tends to leave a mark. Spain does the same to Mexico and here I am. Chinese tried to conquer Mongolia only to get their behinds kicked, hard. So they built a wall. Still, lots of admixture. History already tells these stories.

I'm of a mix of cultures according to my parents. I was told I was half Native American and the other is of Belgian, Columbian and French decent so I am literally waiting on my 23 & Me results in the next few weeks.

Is there a reason Courteney was included on this show? She in no way appears ethnically ambiguous. She looks like a Black woman with very slight admixture, aka most Black people in America. Her percentages bear that out. The fact that she thought she'd be only 30% African is a mystery to me.
