I dislike your accusatory attitude, but I will give you some info about the run anyways. The first thing to mention is that the people who actually speedrun a game come up with its speedrunning ruleset. That being said, even if you don't like something and consider something cheating, that is just your opinion. The main reason this run is played on a source port called RBDoom3BFG 1.2.0 is because you can skip cutscenes when you use it and that particular version is the most stable. Now, there are some graphical tweaks that you can do that you can't do in the normal BFG Edition (as far as I know) that don't alter the gameplay in any way. Those are mostly some HDR options and useless gfx tweaks that I don't even use because they make the game looks worse. Everything else is THE SAME as in the normal BFG Edition, including the player's movement speed values. The command for the main one, which is running speed is pm_runspeed and in the BFG Edition is has been increased by the developers to 275 instead of the default 220 in the original Doom 3 from 2004. Reference: github.com/RobertBeckebans/RBDOOM-3-BFG/blob/master/base/def/player.def (ctrl + f and look for pm_runspeed) (and yes, I could easily change this and increase my speed, but I am not a dirty cheater and no, there is no way to prove it unfortunately) Furthermore, I play on g_fov 120, which increases the player's field of view and that can give you the illusion of moving faster. This is surprisingly deceiving. Now, the BFG Edition also gives you the option to play on 120fps. I have bound 2 keys on my keyboard to switch running the game between 60fps and 120fps. I mostly play on 120fps because it is a much smoother experience, but I have to switch back to 60fps in some levels where I need to perform jumps on railings because the physics are a bit broken on more than 60fps and I tend to get sent downwards when jumping off railings and thus failing my jumps. (example: alpha labs 2 jumps @ 11:14) So, I mentioned physics being different on 60 and 120 fps. It is also different in the sense where when you land from a jump, you can get boosted forwards with more momentum. This does make me slightly faster, but only sometimes when I'm performing strafe jumps, which I kinda do throughout the whole game as much as I can, because it is obviously the fastest way to move. From what I have seen, I don't see any notable difference in pure movement speed without jumping from 120fps to 60fps. If there was any, the other speedrunner called Corpseflesh would not be able to beat my runs because he plays on 60fps ONLY. However, he has beaten me and with huge amounts of time saved. Look up his RoE and Lost Mission runs on the leaderboard on speedrun dot com. In Doom 3 there is also wall running, which is a movement technique that can give you a speed boost when running up against a wall. I use this sometimes, like in Caverns 1 here: 52:20. So, between all of these possible explanations, I hope you find your answer because that is all I can think of that is either making me faster or giving you the illusion of me being faster. PS I actually did do speedruns of the original games. It's just not as fun to run the original game because of the slower movement speed, less stamina and slow elevator doors. Both of the runs below were done on 60 fps (or whatever the default is in Doom 3, maybe 62, I don't even know) and without any source ports.
PS
I actually did do speedruns of the original games. It's just not as fun to run the original game because of the slower movement speed, less stamina and slow elevator doors.
Both of the runs below were done on 60 fps (or whatever the default is in Doom 3, maybe 62, I don't even know) and without any source ports.
OG Game random run that I did years ago in like 3 tries and never even posted on speedrun dot com: th-cam.com/video/ouP2Ixozrv4/w-d-xo.html
