From an ex-wedding planner, keep your candles in the freezer and if SHTF, put them in a cooler. It doubles the burn time.
Make candles out of crisco oil and it is healthy and last longer. Look up in youtube

I used to work at Energizer. They made NUMEROUS brands of batteries- all the same thing but with different labels, most were cheapy brands. If they needed more stock for some brand, another brand went through a delabeler machine which ripped off the label, and then was relabeld as a new brand. So don't worry about what brand batteries are, the size is all that matters!

FYI: I'm a Trucker and I've hauled various goods over the past 20 years. One thing I learned is that they will take stickers off of produce stating its from Florida, ship it out to California, change stickers to say its California grown and sell it as California Oranges or whatever produce it is. the brokers know about it.
I've hauled gasoline and its the same gas. If you get " BAD GAS" its not the gas, its the maintenance of the tanks underground. Tanks can get water, debris, trash in it. Ethanol separates and a car may fill up with a tank full of Ethanol.

Two stainless steel dog bowls. You can cook, bake, boil, & eat from them. A pair of pliers and a couple of binder clips let you move them or securely cover one with the other.

If you were Catholic, which I grew up as one but we were told why white candles were the better, I’ve been buying tea light candles big and small and other candles because they were going to be a better way to make if you had to make stove and use it for cooking and boiling water because the heat was the better way to go with candles till somebody spoke out and said, get Crisco oil in the tin and a lamp wick that you would use in a lamp and put it in it, it would burn better.

The ones he shows in this particular video all have white wax inside. The color/Jesus/Saint decoration is usually a plastic wrap on the glass column😊
I would put those solar landscape lights outside in the sun during the day and every evening I would bring them inside my house and set them around all the rooms. My house was so beautiful with the ambience of those lights. I think I’ll do it again. I never had to turn lights on after dark! But truly the ambience was so worth it!!

Personally I’ve found they don’t last long. I use them all around my airbnb, inside , outside and on the driveway, even to scare the foxes away from the duck pen, weirdly the cheaper ones last longer than the dearer ones every time

Women’s items!! It always shocks me how few preppers with wives and daughters mention this. Then again, it is a bit awkward and taboo I suppose...I keep small dollar tree packs with pads, pain reliever and icy hot pads to barter and/or give to those in dire need. It will certainly be a high demand item :)
Sanitary napkins make great bandages or help for wounds. Also great for cleaning floors.

Get reusable period products. Like the underwear and the cups. Super lifesavers I haven't bought monthly items in ages. But I have 2 small girls to look into for it later.
There are cloth pads that you can buy and use many times. But I have a little bit of everything.
Not just pads but monistat, wipes and pain meds..oh yes and chocolate if it applies.lol
I bought a 100 pack of tea light candles from Walmart (Mainstays brand) the other day for $5. Much better deal than anywhere I've found elsewhere.
Dollar Tree also has small alcohol burner cans for cooking, the type caterers use to keep food warm. These burn for about 2 hours, and are safe for use indoors, a real plus for cooking in cold weather or for a grid-down situation. These cans are usually located on a lower shelf in the party decoration section, near the baby shower decorations for some reason.

Once lit you can't shut them off. They just burn down until done. So it wastes it after you are done with it.

My high school chemistry teacher would always yell at us for buying name brand aspirin. She told us to compare the ingredients on the back label and to go with whatever had the best value because a lot of it is the same stuff with different packaging.

The active ingredients are almost always the same as 'name brand' versions. I buy the $1 packs of asprin etc. from the supermarkets because they're identical. I never waste money on brand name drugs anymore. Even our pharmacies ask you if you want the generic version of prescription drugs.
Good point. I treat it kind of like Silver Rounds. If I were ever to use them for bartering I think that people would prefer American Eagles over Buffalo Rounds, even though they are both the same percentage of silver. I kind of follow the same approach with medications, even though I know that the ingredients are identical.

As a nurse for 26 years, I can say with confidence that generic is most commonly used for over-the-counter meds in hospitals and nursing homes. It's very seldom we see "name brand " medicines. Save your money and buy generic- the "experts" do! 😏
Depends what it is....batteries for example...no name brands dont always last as long while lots of meds have same ingredients etc

If you can’t find the plastic drop cloths (which are huge!), get the shower curtains. They aren’t quite as big as the drop cloths, but would totally work. Also good to put under a sleeping bag if you’re sleeping on the ground to keep moisture out. Excellent video!

Yep, and bandages of ALL kinds. DT has TONS of name brand bandages, with Curad being the best one. Sometimes they'll have cute Lil cartoons for the kids, or camo designs, but for a buck, who cares?! And I've even seen "Vet Wrap" there in various colors which is great for people AND pets. Hair elastics is another DT fav I stock up on, again, multi use items are always great to have and if you have long hair, you know important hair elastics are.... And how frequently they go missing! Lol!
They also have storage plastic bags in the "Closet" section. They come in a box with a variety of sizes from XXL with one bag that is HUGE, down to LARGE with 3 bags that aren't so big but fits a lot and good for organizing. They are like big zip lock bags, but are thick and I believe they are also waterproof. They advertise on the box as storage or camping. They don't ALWAYS have every size, which is a bummer, but when they do, they are WELL worth stocking up on.. I use them for everyday storage of crafting supplies to separate out my florals, etc. They have a cut out handle above the zip lock for easy hanging. 😉

Avoid their sunglasses
Dish gloves. They are a great cheap waterproof layer over thin warm gloves when out in the elements, use in a small cleaning/disinfection kit, and protect your hands from bleach water when doing laundry/sanitizing dishes in a grid down situation.

I've been in post hurricane and no electricity. Plastic or latex Gloves are essential ..for women you have no idea the abuse your hands will take with power outage and no washing machines or dishwashers.
My favorite Dollar Tree items to prep are super shelf-stable foods that are rotated through (each obviously being only $1): canned coconut milk, apple cider vinegar, larger (18oz?) cans of refried & red kidney beans, shelf stable milk (they have 1%, 2%, whole, & almond milk aseptically sealed), Pete's hot sauce, tinned low-heavy metal fish types, Rotel tomatoes w/ green chiles, 1lb bags of lentils, 2lb bags of rice, random interesting canned vegetable mixes (usually in larger cans), mushrooms (in reusable glass jars), pop-top coconut water with coconut chunks in it (up to $3 at other stores), and aseptically sealed chicken stock. =)
I would also add from the stationary section, pencil sharpeners. These come in handy for taking small twigs and using the shavings for fire starter, (adding pencils as well, since this would be a dry source of fire starter if the outdoor wood is damp.) I would also be looking for the Mylar emergency blankets. These come in really handy if you have to use the plastic drop cloths for an emergency shelter in the cold. They can be taped to the plastic to reflect heat, both body and candle heat to stay warm. Last winter we lost power for 2 and half days, the temps were in the single to minus numbers. I took a mylar blanket and placed it under the fitted sheet, and one above the cover sheet, with a linen, wool blanket and quilt for covers, I used a two hot water bottles and placed them at the foot of the bed under the covers. This kept me warm and comfortable all night. I also put my slippers under the covers as well so I would have warm slippers in the morning!

A very good point... accurate too - with the lifelong chronic pain and conditions I have, I've tried so many OTC meds from all different stores (sometimes to supplement Rxs, sometimes to replace) and in my experience, whether store brand or national brand, they all do the same job. I always buy the generic now, unless I can get the name brand for the same price. I do think though that in a 💩-hitting-fan situation, with my pre-apocalypse marketing experience, I might be able to talk some folks into better barters or trades if I had a few "meds you should have" kits of name brands on offer.😁😉😋 Side note: I've definitely noticed some generic Rxs are duds or sub-par, so I'm more picky when I can be about certain meds and their manufacturers. Afraid I don't have too much say or choice in that particular matter though.
So are vet ones. I found several companies that sell from Canada and Mexico that have comparable prices.
As far as extreme cleaning, Awesome is probably the best I've ever seen.

This stuff even breaks up dried diesel fuel residue that is a decade old!

I work in industrial maintenance and I use it on my uniforms gets them cleaner than the uniform company ever has and I don’t lose them.
I own a survival supply company, and I would have to concur that these are indeed some pretty solid picks. Dry goods food items are also a good pick for Dollar Tree items. Dry good items typically have a naturally very long shelf life, and even the off brands would make great barter items.
I bought coffee, creamer, and sweetners as barter items.
Around Christmas, Dollar Tree Stores in my area have been selling cranking flashlights.
I buy hygiene, first aid, vitamin and cleaning supplies each trip. Foil pans for cooking on the fire pit are another thing that I stock up on every trip. Battery operated tea lights are good for emergency lights.
Shelf Stable milk in the carton is the most important thing that I stock up on at Dollar Tree. Because of my allergies, most powder milk products are not good for me because I have severe reaction to certain chemicals.

Personally the tubes of triple antibiotic hydrocortisone and anti-itch cream the small bottles of Tylenol and ibuprofen the small kits of feminine hygiene for trading purposes or to give to somebody who is a neighbor in an emergency all of these items from the Dollar tree are very useful
I have used DT items to make first aid pks for new parents or if someone takes up a new hobbie such as skateboarding or hiking. fits in a backpack and can take care of small injuries.

Electrical tape is wonderful for applying compression on wounds and keeping other stuff together. Plus it comes in pretty colors now.
You know, one thing that some might not think about getting even if just for barter is female products like tampons and maxi pads. Those items have no expiration date and can be used for barter.

They have pink Himalayan salt there. So good!!! $1 instead of $5 elsewhere.
$1 a pound is good but, I found it 5 lb fo $4 at Big Lots this year! Love it!
@@aliceking2350 pink Himalayan salt has no iodine. If using it long term, may want to find some iodized salt. Mostly all in little packets are iodized. After awhile your health suffers. A long while, but still. Just saying.

A few of my favorite dollar tree items (some every time, some are only once or twice): grill racks (thin, but light and easy to pack, placed over a fire on rocks or logs makes a nice grill), fingernail polish (coat matches and they are waterproof) super glue, the small washcloths that are compact but expand in water (easy to pack and save space) and the snap on lid containers for making water tight kits (fire kit, first aid, fishing, etc)
How do you use the matches after you waterproof them with the nail polish? Does it just peel off?
Those plastic drop cloths could also be used to seal up part of the house:apartment to keep in heat if power goes out during winter. Won’t have to use as much energy/fuel/emergency power to heat up the whole place when you can just warm up a smaller portion

I always pick up cotton balls, cotton rounds, 70% alcohol or peroxide.
I have bought some of the cheap kitchen tools to stash with food stashes not in my home because a cheap can opener or knife is better then nothing.
I always get my 70% alcohol there. Great sorce for some first aid stuff as well

I buy 90% at Sam’s because it works better as a back up fuel for a super cat or alcohol stove. Dual purpose. :)

Petroleum jelly. First aid and fire starter. Works great even for starting wet fires. Add a bit to a cotton ball, toilet paper, cotton face cleanse pads ect. I actually find rolling up a bit in toilet paper works fantastic

Suggestion: date your battery purchases and store them in the vegetable bin of your refrigerator.
I like to get the rain ponchos and keep one in each bug out bag, also a couple in the glovebox of each car.
Be careful to check them periodically, I had a plastic poncho in my car which when I actually went to use it was so brittle I couldn’t. But then I live in Texas and the summer heat destroyed it.

I have a vac sealed bag of rain ponchos and emergency blankets...however the emergency blankets are loke one time use, then the coating wears off
Glow sticks for my Power Outage Kit. I prefer them over tee light candles because of the fire risk. Plus it’s a great night light for kids during a power outage.

Was never a fan of the glowsticks, my eyes are sensitive and they don't help lol. I survived Harney and used Tea candles. Just put a huge plate underneath them or a metal cooking sheet with the sides that come up. I would turn off the tea candles before I went to bed though. After bed meaning, after the sun would come up. We were the only ones with a generator and I stood guard, armed just waiting for someone to to try and take it lol
@@MrDballmoney Couldn't you just get a quarter locked cabinet that they use in data centers and lock that sucker in there? I sure Amazon might even have them as they had a 10U locking cabinet when I last checked. My thoughts is that you can get a 12U+ one, put the gen in there (facing appropriately) and forget about anyone trying to EASILY steal it.

we have a similar place here in UK, I usually pick up Vaseline and cotton wool. These have multiple uses. Plus rub them together and have great fire tinder
Ok, you’re saying you don’t use chapsticks but hear me out…
One product I can recommend, if you can find it, is a skin ointment developed for the Swedish army in the '50s. It's sold everywhere here in Sweden and most people use it as a lip balm but it's a super versatile product in an EDC kit.
It's great for dry skin in general, cuts and scrapes, damaged cuticles, blisters, prevent chafing and It can protect your face in extreme temperatures. You can also use it to grease bike chains or weapons/knives, wax skis, or use it as an emergency candle if you remove it from the container and and shove a wick in there. It's even edible (it contains some vitamins) and you can fry food in it or spread it on bread if you're in a pinch.
It's called "Försvarets Hudsalva" and comes in small military green containers of either 9 or 23ml and I've seen people selling it in other countries. Probably can’t find it at Dollar Tree but I bet you can find it online if you're interested.
Thanks for the great tip!! That is fabulous stuff!! Always helps to have small items that serve many functions in your emergency kit!!! Got to get some of that for my hiking kit. I never even day hike without my small bag of desert/woods survival items, about two days worth of food and about a gallon of water. Never know when you could get stuck or hurt and have to hunker down for a night or two. Kit goes with me in the truck on road trips too. People in my state literally die every year within a mile of their cars in our summer months because they are totally ignorant of these kinds of things and unprepared.

Sharpies do tend to grow legs and disappear into the wormhole, don't they? Lots of good tips. I especially like the focus on barter items. Never know what you need to swap for until it happens.

When I needed sharpie for work I would buy the multi color packs because most people had black. Even thought some colors like yellow and light green don't show up well the fact that the other colors stayed with me 10x longer than a black one more than made up for a couple useless colors.
Me too. I have coffee creamers and sweatners as barter items and we dont drink in my house so hubby and kids teese me that i think that far into the preps
It might be useful to organize the things you buy by date so that you can use them yourself when they are nearing their expiration date. Best to not be wasteful if we can help it :)

Very true. I once bought a lot of can goods, over time ---- when we moved across country had to throw out---- at that time no one wanted slightly expired can goods.
How did they NOT get used quickly enough?
I always cooked with fresh/frozen produce and fresh meats. I did not think of that when I stocked up. I did arrange them to use according to dates. But just did not use often enough. 😢
Now I go ahead and use can goods more so my rotation is reasonable, according to dates an speed of use.
Most shelf stable foods (pretty much any non bread or kept cold) will last anywhere from 20-99999999 years depending on the food after they pass the date on the package, plus sell by or use by are not true expiration dates and things with that will usually last forever.

That's why i think 3mths worth is enough. If shtf, you can always loot or forage. Once the initial panic danger is over.
As a current Dollar Tree employee myself I can confirm these sell FAST [especially the tall candles], so it' best to grab this stuff whenever you see 'em in stock. We usually get our trucks in every Saturday, so it's best to check in every Tuesday/Wednesday. 😉

I would add zip ties/cable ties. They have a pretty strong largest ones. They can hold things together.
Even the smallest ones work to hold small things together, tie up branches quickly especially if cold outside.

I did purchase off brand aluminum foil from a dollar store . The foil was thin and it started tearing off of the roll unevenly.

Even Great Value brand is better than dollar tree. I will NEVER make this mistake again. I use up the dollar tree brand for random crap that I don't need good foil for, just to get rid of it.

for a long time, they carried a box of 6 "emergency" candles - got one box every time I went. They also have a zipper dental kit like what your dentist gives you, every cleaning visit, which only costs a dollar.
I have seen them. I go to three different stores. They all have different things/priorities.
Those candles will be useful in an emergency for going to the bathroom without burning down the house. You can also read by them in the dark.
My nephew bought some cheap desk lamps at Target for $10 each just need new batteries and you can use them in the bathroom too. Always keep generic meds on hand for yourself or bartering. Remember diapers and wipes too for people who don't use cloth ones. There are all kinds of things to barter with that you can buy at the dollar stores, even if you don't use them. Those Chapstick containers when cleaned out can hold money for emergencies or just to hide it from thieves, they'll never know, plus they're cheap. You may need Chapstick when it's cold and the heat is off. I keep reminding people of Katrina and Texas. Be prepared.
I like the paper lanterns. They use 2 AAA batteries and are great to hang in a tent! I also put them in bedrooms and bathrooms during power outtages. Great for the kids as well, no fire Hazzard.

Zip lock bags are not cheaper at $tree, if you calculate price per bag.
Careful, always calculate by unit price not package price. On some items the $tree is quite expensive.

I like to pick up the small puzzle in the metal boxes. The box is bigger than an Altoids tin. I usually put the puzzle pieces in the recycling bin and use the box to make a kit.
I paint the puzzle pieces and use them for craft projects. I don't use foam or plastic. Tina

A must have for me. I love to cook but MS sometimes takes over and I cut myself when preparing food. Super glue is my go-to to seal the wound.
I buy them and glue the cuts on my fingers. Better than paying more emergency room bills

Vinegar is as effective as bleach for disinfecting and can be used for pickling food to preserve it along with adding a little flavor to your food. Sometimes they have apple cider vinegar with the mother non pasteurized.
So you can use it to make more vinegar if you are running out.
Totally loved this video. I had just started prepping at the end of 2019 and have a wonderful stash of stuff. They have name brand tissue which I keep a lot of. I have prep baskets for kitchen uses. I love the travel name brand stuff for individual bug out bags.
I just went to Dollar Tree yesterday and picked up lighters, cotton balls/pads, and a variety of other items. The cotton pads/balls can be used for medical purposes but i use the cotton balls with vaseline to use as fire starters.
dryer lint works great as a fire starter also and its free lol. but I also have a ziplock bags with lots of cotton balls and a container of vaseline in each bug out bag and in vehicles.
@@jeaniejbutler4911 Dryer lint does work great, but I would rather not risk the fumes from synthetic clothing lint. Old mattress filling is the most flammable fire starter I've ever seen - I'm practically afraid of the stuff :)
Gardening supplies, seeds are 4 for a dollar and they grow fine. Pick them up , they go fast and when they are gone , they don't restock. Thank you for your list.!!

Try to buy Heirloom seeds. They are more expensive, but you can save some seeds from what you grow and replant them the following year with better quality results.

I like picking up the zip ties, Reynolds foil sheets, there are 25 sheets to a box, 40' braid rope and some of the food items such as chicken al a king, (they are $1.65 at the grocery store so saving 65 cent a can is good especially when we have so many in the family that like it. I like buying the tall 3 quart round storage containers also, good for storing the small box matches, tea candles, zip ties or batteries. I remove the packaging from the batteries, zip ties and tea candles so they are all loose and I can fill the container with more.
Be careful storing batteries loose it can start a fire

We buy the generic medicine from Dollar tree all the time. They work great. Especially the pain relievers and allergy pink pills.

Anyone here that hasn't noticed how many items at Dollar Tree has shrunk in size or volume? Less an issue with things like Goo Gone where a little goes a long way but I like those large plastic jars for storage & the shrunken ones I don't need. It took looking at five stores but I found a few hold out jars.
Aside from emergency long term food storage there is a value as well to stocking up on just your regular annual groceries, paper products, etc that you plan to actually use/eat throughout the coming year. That really will help if inflation or shortages due to shipping delays continue. People get caught up on just the apocalypse or power outage scenario, but make two lists -one for your immediate needs that you can budget to buy a bigger quantity of now for -and then another list of items for your "long term" prep pantry. Also, track on a list where your long term items are stored and their expiration dates. You don't want to forget to do a little FIFO on them too (First In-First Out) to not waste items. We're doing that now to make sure we don't have to throw some of the stuff we bought right when the lockdowns happened.
I also like to get basic first aid items, bandaids, gauze, medical tape ect.

Their fabric bandaid are the best. I also get their gauze, but Walmart is a better deal for that.

I use their blue tarps for everything. I get the nuts, seeds and dried fruits for all my bags. Colgate toothbrushes are sturdy...not the no name ones. The Tylenol and Advil individual packs are priceless for everyday carry. I also like the little tissue packs because they have come in very handy.

Hi Monica! The Soft Bristle Oral B toothbrushes are excellent! And can be repurposed as cleaning tools-- especially around the sinks and tub areas!
The brown tarps are heavy duty and I get them whenever they go on sale. The blue tarps don't last outside. They are not heavy enough and the brown tarps I get are silver on the inside that reflect some heat.
dish towels, if you dont feel like making your own form cloth. they can be used for dishes, obviously, but also to padd breakables, to grab a hot dish, to dry hands- and they are rarely available at other stores, but dollar tree often has them.
feminine hygiene supplies- obvious if you need them but also as trade (and can be used in general first aid)
every once in a blue moon my local dollar tree has candies or mints in a good solid tin- even if i throw out the contents the tins are useful
I would recommend price checking though, and also checking unit cost... a lot of these $1 items are actually cheaper per unit or size in other stores, like the dental items and even sometimes the soup cans, baggies and foil, etc. great list!

I'm really picky about milk (prefer farm fresh from the cow) but was convinced to try their shelf stable by a friend. Was completely surprised to find the whole milk is quite nice! I buy it all the time now & love the convenience of having some on the pantry shelf.

idea of ‘place holder’ items, until you can ‘upgrade’, is a great prep mindset.
Gives an idea of ‘overall prep’ in physical items, not just on a paper list.
Also, by packing ‘everything’ into a BOB, you realize how ‘much’ a pack ‘really’ weighs. I had a backpack that i kept throwing stuff in. One day, i picked that bag up. i could never carry the weight!
So the backpack weight dilemma, with a more realistic idea of what i could carry, led me to the ‘next level’ of prepping!
Organization, … pack & repack, repeat as necessary. 🤔😎
It only just dawned on me recently that you can save a lot of money getting rechargeable lighters and flashlights. And of course get a solar power bank of some sort.
Now that Dollar Tree has raised prices to $1.25 sometimes you can find identical items somewhere else cheaper. Dollar General has a decent $1 section.
I always pick up tarps and clear shower curtains at DT. Both are a little more heavy duty than the drop cloth, but still not too expensive to throw away if necessary after use. I also look for digital thermometers in the first aid section, though that has been hit or miss this past year. They might not be Braun, but they are fairly reliable and I think good for at least barter. The other thing I like to get for BOBs or vehicle kits are those dish drying mats. They are super absorbent, light and have a fraction of the bulk of a comparable towel. I also get flip-flops to keep in my vehicle just in case something happens with my regular shoes and I need something to wear into the store to get shoes or I need to treat my shoes has disposable for some reason - again, not too concerned if I throw them away and also take very little space.

Foil is a fantastic item for making molds and transferring shapes.
Heat shielding, makeshift electrical wire, mixing chemicals, signalling, scrubbing metals/wood etc, cup for striking flint into firestarter, wrapping seeds/cotton etc, lining porous materials and containers, filling space inside clamps/crevices/battery boxes, covering complex shapes to protect from heat/fire/water/sparks, it just goes on and on..

One thing, as far as Canned Meats, $1/can may sound good, but most grocery stores have Tuna, Salmon, Chicken, etc, including Name Brands for LESS than $1/can.
Kroger, Meijer, Walmart etc, all have tuna for 79¢/can, or less. However, you're only gonna save money if you are going to be there anyway. Making a special trip uses more gas & time, plus wear on your car. Just something to consider. 😉😸
Chap stick is good for making fire and you can light it like a candle too. I use carmex on my own mouth. But a chapstick is good to put into an altoids EDC kit for fire making.
Vaseline or equivalent on cotton balls in an altoid can. In the rough, generic vaseline is way cheaper and works better, including on blistered hands, feet, ears, nose, etc. than chapstick. And I swear carmex makes you need more carmex :)

Don't use carmex if you get old sores it has menthol crap in it some are allergic to, as a kid it always gave me a fever blister.
Vaseline is safe and great for fire starting with cotton ball.

@@meditatestaycalm8321 you misunderstood me. I use carmax to protect my lips. You can't use it for a candle tho. You use chapstick for candles. As far as cold sores are concerned. Vanilla extract works best. It'll heals cold sores in 3 or 4 days. As for allergies, they are a valid point. If you are allergic to something, do not use it. Yes too, cotton balls slathered with vaseline is great fire starter too. It's also the cheapest. Take care.

Wrapping your feet with saran wrap before putting on Socks in cold weather will keep your feet warm and dry. Also turkey bags csn be used to boil water if a pot is not available , thirdly "press and seal " is a great way to protect large wounds and helps to waterproof dressings that need to stay dry and in place. Doesnt cause the irritation that tape can somtimes cause.
They have quarter gallon boxed milk. It is ultra high temperature (UHT) pasteurized making it shelf stable for up to 6 months without refrigeration. Make sure you rotate it. Tastes the same as refrigerated milk.

@@CvilleEducator 3mil trash bags aren't as sturdy as say 6mil, but yeah, they'll work for water storage, purification, keeping dry etc
When you open the sterno can keep the lid. If it is missing you can use a coffee cup to snuff out the light and keept the sterno from drying out. That is what we did in the restaurant.
Don't forget basic sewing supplies , needles ,thread ,safety pins etc
Disposable razor knifes large and small sizes along with razor blades and the plastic holder for them is something I pick-up to put in my kits. Mouse and rat traps are another multiple purpose item from perimeter alarms to cathing food if needed

@@SgtKenway Yes...but it isn't the Himalayan Chef Brand it is SALT 84 brand. They have a website and you can see the label and package is VERY similar. But, I just got the two out and totally forgot, the Himalayn Chef bag is about 30% smaller than the one from Dollar Tree. They are both a pound. And both are packed full. I thought it was odd they can get one pound in the HC smaller bag and yet need to increase the bag size for the DT version pound. Then I realized by looking through the window on the front of the bag, it is the GRAIN SIZE. The gauge of grain is much larger on the DT salt. I have not opened my DT salt to compare. It is prep storage, but THERE IS A DIFFERENCE. It actually looks like sand. The other version looks like pink powder. Hope that helps!
For persons saying DT best buy dates are close to expiring, It is March of 2021 and my DT HP salt 84 Expires Dec 2025!!! More than 4 years. PS. The 84 is for the amount of minerals found in this salt. YOU NEED IT PEOPLE!!!
