I work construction. I have never had a problem with any of their high end tools. I have approximately 3000 dollars worth of their tools.
they also give a secret lifetime warranty at all the stores around me so i assume the others would as well
I too stand by their high end tools. In 2005 I bought a 2500 watt inverter, I paid the extra warranty that lasted twenty years. I have taken it back twice. It went out again last year but it was my fault. I went to buy another one and when they rang it up they saw I still had some time left on my warranty and told me bring it back again. I told the clerk not to worry about it. I spend a lot of money at their stores. There solar panels are the best. I have panels that have been in use since 2005 and they are still putting out maximum power.

Same here. Never had a problem with their generators, power tools, or lawnmowers
I'm a diesel mechanic and at some point maybe I'll break one of their ratchets or sockets, but so far all of their tools have held up
They are like the radio shack of tools, you’ll be pleasantly surprised at what they have
I miss Rat Shack.
They went out of business in California once the average IQ here dropped below 80.
As an aircraft mechanic of 40 yrs I have had to "make" some of my tools and it as I believe wiser to buy less expensive tools that I would need to cut,grind and weld into "Special Tools" so Harbor Freight is a great place for this.
Hurricane Irma survivor here, the harbor freight 500 doll predator generator was ran for 4 days straight. All i need ed to do was keep a fan on it. I didnt even have the 240 v twistlock adapter, have one now. Best part my stupid 1500 $ honda generator broke down after 1 day, foam air cleaner degraded and sucked into carb. I bought two more h freight 4000 w generators.
My Honda foam filter did the same thing Jason.
Zip ties, duct tape, cordage, and rags too! My victims love harbor freight👀

My husband is a contractor and prefers Makita tools. He loves interchangeable batteries, the quality and the durability.

Solar panels are awesome! I have it for more than 3 years.. working perfect .
I have 2 sets of the 100 watt sets. They work great and actually put out 100 watts in direct sunlight.
I bought solar panels from harbor freight 6 years ago and still working !

A few months ago I got several tools from HF, and the only regret was I didn't go there sooner. Everything I got was of great quality. The dead blow hammer I got from there to replace my wood beater block works great. I love their tool bags. I recommend having a strict budget or you will buy too much. Both times I went I came within cents of blowing budget. I'm going back payday
I was working on a project. I had two expensive tape measures and a harbor freight tape measure laying on the sawhorses.
I went to the store for a Gatorade.
While I was gone we had a five minute rain shower. The two expensive tapes were ruined.
The harbor freight tape was fine.
I like harbor freight. at least at the store here the employees are very friendly and helpful, rare now days.
I've had my Chicago Electric grinder (I think I paid about $15 at the time) for about20 years and it still works good.
Don't use it much, I have a craftsman same way. 35 years old and use it 10 minutes every 2 or 3 years.
Same here, and I've used the heck out of mine.
I have about four of those cheap grinders that were 9.99 way back in the day.... I use the heck out of all of them grinding welds and buffing, cutting... I only had one give me trouble and I wore out the brushes, harbor freight had a universal brush replacement and it is humming again just like new.... Most any tool will last if you take care of them and use them for their intended purpose...
I have purchased some of their inexpensive power tools with the expectation that hopefully will last until the intended job is done. I have never disappointed. They have lasted several years it took to do a frame-off vehicle restoration.
They also have an adapter to refill the small 1lb propane cylinders from a larger tank. It’s around $5 and well worth the money

I’m a retired mechanic and use harbor freight tools all the time. They hold up just as good as my craftsman. As far as power tools. I have two of the cheap cordless and have used them hard for three to four years and still working. Not fan of Chinese but they work to get the job done.
I find that the laborers in the parking lot a Harbor Freight are much more pleasant and harder working than those at Home Depot.
No joke, I'm serious.
Apparently some Harbor Freights are WAY better stocked than others...

I got a flyer from HF. At first glance I thought it said "Disposable Tool Sale". I thought how refreshing to see truth in advertising! You buy a tool from HF , use it a few times, it breaks. You throw it away and buy another when you need it again.
I looked closer and it said "Tool Dispossl Sale"

I have there lil 2000watt suitcase generator, 2 years and still going strong 💪. Just my experience with them
Thank you for sharing . I shop there when Harbor Freight was a mail order only ,later with tons of retail store. They were very aggressive to begin with free gifts ,20% even 30%coupons . Lately ,their promotions are not as aggressive as what it used to be. Harbor freight always for the budget mind people. Their tools are always good emergency back up.

My favorite store. I never use or but power tool. But hand tool and tarps, solar panels and all the lights. I've bought so much there and always been satisfied.
The thing about HF tools....... Take pliers. The look cheap, feel crummy, they seem basically a toy but not only do they work, you keep coming across them in your tool box and wonder why you have such a crummy thing. Its because it still works. In the old days I bought all Craftsman and still have them and old S-K tools too. But today, tools are so expensive and junky so why not buy HF? Anyway I appreciate the video, I havent been in in a long time and its good to review for what they have. Between HF and dollar stores you can find tons of prep items. Im locked down in Asia and when I can come home my bags will be brimming with prep and tools, they are 50-90% less price than HF and they look like they came out of the same factories. There is so much important prep stuff for pennies its really a shock.

You are spot on! After Hurricane Sally went through my town (and wrecked not only my house, but some of my preps, too, while making others hard to get to for a time) I really started buying a lot of essential "need it NOW" items and tools from our local Harbor Freight.
As for their wrenches and other tools, I look at them as one-time use items. I need a certain socket set, I buy that and if it lasts then great, as you say -- I have a backup. If it gets ruined in the use for which I bought it, then I at least probably got my money's worth.

Great video, that almost felt like a commercial. I enjoy their great prices on things I may not use often, and have installed a few fake security cameras.
If you don't do something often, but then have to... Harbor Freight.
Have not found good drill bits at Harbor freight, broke many of them with little pressure.
Left hand drill bits are pretty good. Great is your gust trying to remove broke or worn fasteners
I've had a pair of step bits from them for years that I love.

I love my predator generator, I never had any issues, just do the routine maintenance and it will last a long time.
I generally agree with your assessments. I am a newbie prepper, so I have a ton of tools from HF. I’m not a homesteader though, so I haven’t ever really needed super high quality tools for repeated use. I love having the right tool for an occasional repair without having to have a super expensive toolbox fully stocked. Thanks for the video.

Some people complain about the Peditor Generators. We had one that went down on us, didn't try to fix it for years. Then when we decided to go off grid, it just took a new spark plugs and cleaning the carbonator..,it started right up like new. Alot of times it's something really basic to get it going again.
The way I look at Harbor Freight is that it is great for 3 things.
1. If it is a tool that you expect to use 1 time, there's no use to go with something like Snap On
2. If you need a large number of tools, HF will allow you to get all the tools you need for much cheaper. Then replace them as you can. When you replace them, you have a backup tool
3. Consumable items like zip ties are great to get at HF.
As long as you know what you are getting, HF is a great source for some items.
I've always called them single use tools. Especially if working on job sites where your can expect your tools to be stolen

Spot on with the assessment. I too wish I would’ve shopped there a long time ago. The orange mallet has been very useful. Water hose very durable. Yes always be on the lookout for deals and sales.
Small black battery powered lanterns are cheap and work great. Batteries last a long time and the initial set is included.

Yep, I am a regular customer there too. Great value, but I stick with brand name for power tools.

One thing is missing: a good, solid, pry bar. It can be used for anything. Also, one good solid metal tube, to make even longer bar.
They even sell cowbell's.

I drive down to Bellingham WA with $100 USD from Vancouver, BC when I'm bored and go home with four bags of stuff I "really need"! It's a guy's version of a candy store. Great for minor stuff like whetting stones, clamps, that miniature file set you use once in a while that you would never utilize enough to pay top dollar for for the premium brand. I keep a complete set of basic automotive and emergency tools from HF in my vehicle and I swear I didn't spend more than $200. Good video.
I like it for the “weird” stuff that’s hard to find other places. I got a 2 pound brass mallet for like 25 bucks.
HF is the guy's version of. Victoria's Secret.

Their hand tool warranty is pretty awesome. I cracked a breaker bar at work once (used a big cheater pipe) and they gave me a new one no questions asked!
Hey Mr. DIY Prepper, The only problem with the big " Rambo " type knife, that I know of, is the Allen set screw is NOT locktited in. So if you buy one, get some locktite, a small tube contains enough to put on 30 or 40 knife set screws. Remove the Allen set screw, put locktite on the Allen set screw. Put set screw back in and tighten it up good and tight....let it setup over night.....problem solved. Oh and put just a little bit of grease, on the handle cap threads and seal, so it won't corrode and will be easier to get on and off.

I use a gas tamper and predator generator,very happy,also tool boxes,wrenches and sockets,zip ties,gloves,batteries,flashlights
The best tool I ever bought from HFT is the High Position Motorcycle Lift.
I usually got them for 160 They are rated for 1100 pounds but that is a static perfectly balanced load. So go
about 750. These lift from two inches to 25 or so but are said to go thirty. Mine are on wheels and I use them got everything. Even inside houses for cabinets welding tables, small engines, lifting lawn equipment, even loading refrigerators on trucks by myself using planks.
I have even used them in pairs to load long term motorcycle projects on to work tables, also on wheels. Good wings to be exact
I will say they’re bench vise worked great for me and just bought some nylon inserts for my jaws from amazon. And then bam! Worked great for my builds
A few years ago I bought a leaf blower from a guy who rebuilds small engines in his garage. He told me that most internal predator engines parts are interchangeable with Honda.

.50 cal ammo cans at Wal-Mart are the most cost effective that I've found, other than buying surplus.
I have the Hercules cordless drill. I’ve had it for a few years and it still runs great.

Sometimes you just get what you pay for. That being said, mass manufacturing has leveled the field for staples like zip ties, tape and etc as far as quality is concerned.
Along with many items I have purchased at harbor freight I have the ratchet sets and wrenches.. they are quality and work well

With respect to budget power tools, I got an angle grinder there several years back. They had some crazy super coupon (when they did those things) and the thing was $5. If I only used it once I figured it was a good deal. But it has been several years and it stills works. Saves me the trouble of always changing the disc for different applications. But, without that coupon, I would have never taken a chance.

I've been using and buying Bauer power tools.
They do a good job for me.
The last thing I bought was a Bauer Polesaw and it does a great job.
As far as generators, I have seen a ton of video reviews on predators, and they all say they’re good. That being said, the reviews also point out that for the cost:feature ratio, you can do better. It might be total wattage output, or what it can sustain, fuel capacity, or even outputs supported. Again, solid performers, just not the most efficient use of your $$.
I have had the 8750 for several years. Got it I tent sale for $480.
Have used it many times to power my house or for welding etc. Never had an issue. But I do maintain it and use ethinal free gas in it

Purchased a lot of harbor freight stuff over the years very happy with it.. their lithium jump starter pack is actually extremely well made works great.. just don't allow the lithium battery to go down empty before charging it.. I top it off every couple months

What i paid for a Snap On box USED in 91 i coulda had a full size box from here and paid less. Harbor Freight just wasnt around then.
I have several of their pelican knockoffs that seem pretty good. I have one of the floor jacks, aluminum, and so far so good.
I have purchased many tools from Harbor Freight including their electrical tools. I would say for the average homeowner almost everything they have in their store would be acceptable. I may tend to agree with you on the battery operated tools that they may or may not be available in a few years, but the high name brands that I generally use because I was a contractor change the style of batteries that they used in the same voltage Power Tools although they still made the batteries they are very expensive. I do have two electric welders from Harbor Freight Chicago Electric brand one has a stick welder and one is a flux core wire welder and I have had very good luck with those.
I have a small clamp on vice that I've used to work on firearms. Nothing too intense.
HF is one of my fav stores to go shopping. Haven't had any issues with name brands
