What other essential items from Dollar Tree would you add?
I like the Dollar Tree matches because I save them after they're used. I bundle the balsa wood sticks 5-10 together and dip them in parafin. They make great fire starters.
That's a great tip, thank you.
Good video
Smokes and chew are you good barter items. Anytime i run across a discount bin of them i buy 3-4 packs and freeze them. Keeps them fresh, and people will run out of them eventually
Totally! Zyns too.
candles , these can be melted to make fire starters out of scrap cloth or cotton balls , the craft cushion filler makes a great water filter in a old plastic bottle with sand , the cheap UV lights also to kill bacteria in water , the solar lights can be charged during the day and used at night , cheers from the Australian outback
Great recommendations, thank you.
Just a thought .. DT Screwdrivers and their Steak Knives could also be carried in a bugout bag, duffel bag, purse, toolbox or a vehicle glove box for protection. You had some good suggestions though.
Yes, they definitely could be. Thanks for your comment.
👍👍. Thanks
Welcome 👍
Great idea. Thank you.
You are so welcome!
they have their a knockoff Sterno, some have a wick, some don't.
in the catering isle
I did see those. But like I said, some items I prefer to shop for at other places because of better quality.
Lighter fluid.does run out.. so stock up on matches also
You're absolutely right. Thanks for the tip.
New to channel. I just prep to stock up, but never thought about picking up stuff to trade
I think shortages are coming at some point. If not, I'll just use it myself.
only buy what you need and use. Don't waste your storage space or money on things you wont use.
great video! you inspire me to save more money! keep it up gear and grit!
Thanks for the encouragement, it really helps.
some times you can find brand name medical items.
Absolutely. They're typically more expensive. Batteries are an example. You can buy brand name AA batteries for $5.
Salt is salt and water is water but most often if you figure out what you are paying per weight of these items dollar tree is higher priced. Dollar tree is bad about having smaller packages than you buy at the bigger stores. Sometimes not but that is where you have to use your brain and not just look at the price per package.
* PURELY AN EXAMPLE* I'd much rather spend $1.50 for a 200 package of XYZ product at big box store than go to dollar tree and get 100 for $1.25
I agree with you. DT has cornered the market with that psychology. People are probably paying more for some of the items in this video, but there's the cost factor ($1.25), convenience factor and the barter factor that I take into consideration. This store is very close to my home, and I only need these items in small quantities. Bottom line, perhaps not all of these items make sense based on your personal situation and circumstances.
can't wait to start bartering
2:55 to skip the yakkity yak
Ha! Thanks for adding the fast-forward for folks who don't want to hear me "yakkity yak".
but i did also buy a case of mres soo that would do it but thanks for the tips ill have to stop by my local dollar store today haha
You're welcome.
How much stock do you have in the dollar store franchises?
I have a big fat zero in Dollar Store stock.
can you explain why you buy recommend buying this stuff on a weekly basis, rather than stocking up all at once or periodically but less frequently? i am wondering if it is because this is getting used or disposed of or because you want to be slowly but surely building a big supply, or something else
Great question! One word, habit. I find myself losing motivation and falling into normalcy bias. On another level, I'm really convicted to be prepared so buying things weekly (which is when I do my usual grocery shopping) means it becomes par for the course and also, that it doesn't break the bank.
well i wouldn't think dollar tree have any ''prepping stuff'' i spent 900$ on all of mine
Dollar Tree isn't perfect but it has some good stuff as I pointed out. Is it perfect? No.
Sh*t i Barely drink Enough water, as is.
At least store it if you don't drink it. ; )
But who do you barter with that doesn't have access to Dollar Tree??? They're EV-ER-Y-WHERE.
this would be for a situation where stores have already been cleaned out and aren't due to be restocked soon due to some kind of emergency i imagine
@@angelnumbing Seriously? So you don't even know people who already want to barter for stuff like this? I don't understand.
Dollar Trees, grocery stores, Costcos, Sams, etc., will all be cleaned out. But they'll be cleaned out by the folks who get there first. There won't be enough food and other essentials for everyone. If supply chains get hit expect shortages to last for weeks or months, so many latecomers will miss out.
